I got the quesa birria tacos, which is shredded beef and melted cheese in a double corn tortilla. They come three to an order, with a cup of red consomme to dip them into, and a couple of lime wedges to squeeze over everything. They do not come with any sides, so I ordered the refried pinto beans and carrot rice, because I really wanted some rice and beans. Beans and rice are my litmus test of any Mexican restaurant, and I'm happy to say that the rice and beans at Tlahcos passed the test with flying colors, and they are sublime. I don't practice Santeria, but perhaps the people at Tlahcos do, because their food is bewitching. The carne asada was also ordered, and it came with grilled nopales (cactus), cebollita canbray (little onions), grilled panela cheese, plus guacamole, salsa, rice and black beans.
