The Noodler Taco (Crispy Cornmeal Catfish)
    Sabrina J.

After I finished eating why was I in such a euphoric state to get home and write this review while I had the memories of what I just ate still on my tastebuds. I remember seeing this restaurant when it was being built and even went there with a colleague some years ago. I was in the area and knew I needed to get something that was not too heavy, so I said I decided on "Taco Bamba". The menu had changed a lot since the last time I was there, and I had the hardest time deciding. So, I ordered the "Its Chiko (Not Cheeko) Taco and The Noodler (Crispy Catfish) Taco". When I took the first bite of the catfish I was like "what in the shamrock tastes like this". Fortunately, it was the same reaction when I took the first bite of the Its Chiko. I tasted every ingredient, every sauce, every cut-up vegetable, the taste of how they cooked the catfish and shrimp, how they cooked the tortilla, the presentation, and how fresh everything was. It was all intermingled together so well to provide you the best tasting meal. Who does that; okay, many places try to imitate. However, these two have my vote today. It was funny listening (after I ordered my food) to some young male co-workers in line looking at the menu trying to decide what to get; hearing their reactions to all the titles along with the descriptions of dishes. Through the years one thing I've noticed is that for you to give a review you don't have to stuff yourself full of food to be able to articulate whether a restaurant food is good or not. It's not the quantity of food; it's the quality of the food. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other things on the menu. The restaurant was clean, bright (not sterile), friendly staff, with a pleasant atmosphere.

This is a spacious place for groups and happy hour vibes and good service, however the food itself was just okay for me.

Al Pastor Taco (spiced pork & pineapple)

Takeout review! I was craving some nachos and stumbled upon this place. Well, I'm so glad that I did because the food speaks for itself! El Bacho Nachos with grilled chicken. These nachos were DELICIOUS! The nachos cheese sauce took it over the top but the other toppings and the grilled chicken were all chefs kiss! It's the kind of nachos that you want to share but you're also enjoying too much to share. Al pastor taco with spiced pork and pineapple on a soft taco. This was FANTASTIC! The pineapple helped cool down the heat from the spiced pork but both flavors were perfectly paired together. Delicious! Overall both of my items were excellent. Not sure how it looks in person but the goal is now to visit and grab some more of their nachos and tacos. Packaged well for delivery with a few sauces on the side and a coupon for the next order. I'm a new fan! I love a good nachos and tacos so I was happy to stumble upon this.

Oh my goodness. I LOVE THIS PLACE. truly the only restaurant we go to anymore. It satisfies my cravings for Latino food. And the service is AMAZING. Not sure how they know who we are and where we sit and what our order was but they do. I love my chips and queso and my guac - plus the numerous sauces. Seriously I love this place. Libby the hostess made our day because she was SO nice and so helpful and so easy to talk with. Thank you Libby!!

Happy hour review I sit at the bar and the service is great! Even got to chat with the chef once while it was slow which was cool. The happy hour food options are filling and affordable. Drink options are standard but you can get a variety of marg flavors which is nice and different than what most places offer. It has one of the later happy hours ending at 7 which I love. You don't have to sneak out of work early to catch it lol. It can get packed so go early!

After a long shopping trip to Wegman's, my sister and I were drawn into this beautiful restaurant not only because of its architecture, but because we love us some tacos! We walked in and immediately noted the free daily coffee they provide to their customers. They also have a wide assortment of tacos for breakfast AND lunch. We decided to indulge in the Migas taco and the Al pastor (the best of both worlds). The Migas taco was an 11/10 with the salsa they provide as the taco melted in our mouths. The eggs were light, fluffy, and had the perfect amount of cheese mixed in. The crunchy bacon added texture and the crema sauce added a boost of flavor. The Al pastor taco was okay, at a 7/10 mainly because It was a bit dry, but still had lots of flavor. The coffee was also very good, and was provided with milk and sugars so you can make it the way you'd like.

We came in around 1:30 for lunch. It wasn't too crowded and we ordered and paid at the counter. They were fine with changing some of our order - tortillas instead of cabbage cups for the Jeneral Tacos. We got some salsa from the salsa bar! I think there were 4 options - we got 3, all but the very spicy one. There were all good! I had the shrimp taco and that was so yummy! Seasoned so well with tangy slaw and crema. I had a bite of the Jeneral and Bamba and both were also delicious! The nachos was great too! Will come back when I'm in the area.

To elevate a mocktail instead of just making an expensive juice spritz is much appreciated. I must mention we did go here right after our engagement (which happened to be after a 16 hour flight back from New Zealand). We ended up sitting at a table and enjoyed a variety of dishes along with some happy hour drinks. The ambiance is clean, modern, and pretty cool. The service was fairly quick overall, and our food arrived fresh without much waiting. My first drink was the white sangria, which was well-balanced, moderately sweet, and refreshing. The wines we tried also had great flavor. The happy hour deals on the alcohol menu are especially generous, so I highly recommend taking advantage of them. The ceviche sampler included traditional, cremoso, and callejero. Each ceviche was unique and packed with flavor. My personal favorite was the street-style ceviche, callejero. The tostones, or crispy fried plantains, were light and crunchy. My partner isn't a big fan of mayo-forward sauces, but he really enjoyed the crab salad topping because it paired well with the tostone. My favorite was the shrimp topping as the shrimp were perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. The conchitas a la parmesana was another interesting dish featuring seared scallops. They were grilled with a creamy Parmesan sauce and served with ciabatta. I found that the sauce was a little overpowering and took away from the scallop itself, but I really enjoyed eating it with the ciabatta. Lastly, we ordered two empanadas: one chicken and one made with a mix of sirloin and tenderloin. The dough was a little too oily for my taste, but it was thin and flaky. The chicken and beef fillings had slightly different seasonings and textures, and both were enjoyable. If I could add one thing, I wish our server had explained more about the menu or drinks when she asked whether it was our first time there. She also wasn't around the table consistently, which made it a little difficult to order additional drinks and dishes. Other than that, we really enjoyed the meal, and I'm glad we came here. I'd love to come back for brunch or another happy hour!

The tostones were pretty good where the chicken salad was the best. The causa was alright (reminded me of a chicken potato salad but fancy because it was layered). The flan was delicious. Ambience was nice, clean, spacious. There were two other tables in our area and this was around 4 PM on a saturday. Service wasn't the best. Yes we came about 15 minutes before brunch was over, but our server greeted us once, came back right before 4 (when brunch was over) but zipped past us telling us he'll be right with us, and the when he came back to take our order, it was a few minutes after 4 meaning we missed the price fixe brunch and brunch altogether. The restaurant did comp out dessert but we had intended to come for the brunch. Would we come back? Maybe.

The spaghetti and meatballs came out shortly thereafter. I was a disappointed with this part of the meal. Meatballs lacked flavor. No garlic, no parmesan cheese. The pasta was fine but the sauce was watery and didn't taste like gravy at all. I ate most of it, the garlic bread accenting the meal with the wine. I will probably go back. And what a joy that is. Although it has been around for decades, Buck's has adapted deftly to our current inflationary environment. Perhaps a luxurious dish like steak au poivre is not longer affordable? Well then, how about Burger Au Poivre? With top quality toppings creatively prepared: grilled oyster mushrooms, gruyere and white cheddar cheese, and grilled vincotta marinated onions. Oh my word. All of it was beautifully plated on a bed of cracked peppercorn sauce. Of course the meat itself was of excellent quality, perfectly cooked to order at medium rare. At $31 it is not cheap, but I think a bargain for a meal that sends you over the moon. An equivalent quality steak would have been exorbitant. We paired it with asparagus tempura (also excellent), a nice bottle of Montepulciano de Abruzzo, and for dessert, apple crisp. I also truly appreciate that the portions are generous. Another thing that has become rare these days. Given the service and unique ambience, this is a special occasion restaurant that is fantastic bang for the "Buck," while also casual enough for date-night any day of the week.
