I was in search for some good Mexican food place that was not a typical"touristy"spot. This place was recommended by YouTuber Eloyd Angel and what was a great recommendation this turned out to be! The food at Ta Carbon is delicious, authentic Mexican food. The staff was super friendly and the food was packed with so much flavor. Reminded me of the local food we had in Cancun. Also, the restaurant had good cleanliness procedures including providing and ensuring guests used disposable gloves when handling using the condiment bar. They had a large variety of toppings including limes, pico de gallo, and three different types of salsa including salsa verde. My Favorite Taco was Hazz. While the location is not necessarily in the best area of town, I never felt unsafe at any time. This is a must stop if you are ever in the Phoenix area as it is definitely a front runner for the best tacos in Phoenix! read more

This place is incredible for some cheap Mexican food. They have all sorts of delicious toppings/salsas that you can grab yourself. My favorite was their mixto! Also, their asada tacos were only $2.99 which was crazy affordable. This place was pretty busy so you know it's good. Fast service too. Definitely give this place a try!! read more

I came here for lunch and it was packed which is a great sign. I heard this place is the best for street tacos and I can confirm that's true. I got some street tacos and I got a Lorenzo tostada. They serve the tacos on your choice or flour or corn tortilla. They serve their tacos with only the meat on top. They have a cute toppings areas which has a huge variety of salsas, limes, carrots, cucumbers, onions with cilantro, avocado cream and more. Yum. Also got a burrito and horchata. Both were darn good. The tacos and burritos are super good, but when I tried the Taco Harz that has like a green chili peppers, it gives a better taste. I also get Lorenza, is steak and cheese on a toasted tortilla. There is always a long line which says a lot how good these tacos are, is worth the wait. Dont get quesadillas I mean they're not bad but in my opinion I think the cheese takes the delicious flavor of the meat. Everything is delicious. read more

Great customer service, one line to order and then you get your food and then you pay in the other line . Mexican music fills the room, along with the aromas of the delicious meats! I've been here a few times and food seems very consistent. I especially like the quesadilla. The cheese they use, which is generous, is mild but really good. They have a condiment bar including salsas, limes, marinated carrots and so on. Great for adding on to tacos, etc. It's a walk up ordering with no wait service. Interestingly you don't pay until you're done. I almost walked out last time without paying since the usual is to pay upfront when there is no wait staff. I really enjoyed not only the cheese quesadilla but also the barbacoa street tacos. Give it a try if you're wanting a quick, no hassle, easy ordering place to eat some authentic Mexican food. read more

A great hole in the wall taco spot. We order take out from here on a regular basis. Always call ahead if ordering take out! Line can long with two separate lines one to order one to pay. *** BEWARE OF THE SALSA*** The red salsa is very spicy! It is delicious, but if your aren't ready it will creep up on you. We order about 6 lbs for the office (3 asada 3 pastor) and a handful of asada quesadillas. Normally only takes about 20 min to get ready and is always fresh. Amazing street tacos! This place was busy AND fast. I got the horchata. Lorenza taco, the small gringa quesadilla, and the carne asada taco + all the toppings I added. It was incredible!! The flavor of the meat is what sets this place apart. They give you the tortilla + the meat- you add everything else. They don't make you pay until after you eat in case you want to come back up and order some more (which I did) which was really really convenient. Food is made immediately to order right in front of you. This place deserves all of our money. read more

Everything was great Even the salsas, onions and limes were good lol I highly recommend this place You order. I made a Yelp account just to make a review for this place, all I can really say is oh my God! I ordered the carne asada burro , added the white onion and cilantro mix and the Verde sauce. This is the greatest burrito I've ever had in my entire life. I wish I did not live in Tucson so that way I could become morbidly obese eating this food every single day of my life. read more

I went to Ta'Carbon in Peoria. It was obvious that they had been open only a short time. Many of the logistics in ordering and picking up the order could have been improved. I went on a Sunday night, and the line was out the door. It took about 20 minutes for me to receive my order. The cart holding the Salsa needs to be larger and positioned better. OK, so why a five-star rating? The food was spectacular. The mesquite grill added much to the flavor. The burrito taste was exquisite and had a deep, rich flavor. It is the best burrito I have had in Phoenix. The size was more than filling, and the salsa flavors were bright and fresh but not too hot or spicy. I can't wait to go again and hope they will resolve some of the logistic items. read more

I tried out this place because it's close to my job and my coworkers highly recommended it. The food was fresh and made to order. They don't have an extensive menu which I think works in their favor. It's not a big location, but they have seating for those who want to quickly dine in. Wish they had a drive through for those hot days, but it's well worth getting out the car for a grab and go lunch. read more

I thought the tacos were average. Not great but not bad. I live in Los Angeles and I've tasted better tacos here :P Parking lot is cramped and the ordering is hectic. During busy times seating is hard to find too. I do like the condiment bar but a lady wasn't careful and spilled some hot sauce on my shoe. The meat was slightly bland tho but at least it wasn't dry. read more

A great traditional taqueria but with just a slight twist - The Salsa bar is off the hook. That's the twist. You can load up your tacos with a whole bunch of toppings and that's exactly what I did. This ain't your average Fuddruckers. I put just about everything on these tacos and I was proud of it. I would've put the napkins on top if they had some flavor. We were visiting Phoenix and wanted to try some affordable, authentic Mexican tacos. We scoured Yelp and found this spot and we were so happy we did. Arrived around peak lunch time on a Friday and it was packed with locals. The ordering is a bit confusing. You line up to order and then you wait for your name to be called. We weren't sure when we had to pay but apparently they give you the food and you pay when you're done eating by going back to the counter and telling them your name. It's honour system based it seems. They have a full salsa bar with pickled onions and veggies, fresh onions and cilantro and lots of lime. I loved all the salsas. Now the tacos - we tried the hazz, the carne asada and the mixta and they were ALL AMAZING. I wish I could go back. And the price was incredible. Around $2.50-3.50 per taco. Highly recommend. read more

Super authentic spot. Brush up on your Spanish to order :) we got like 20 tacos for the fam - steak, steak w cheese and green chillies, pork, and barbacoa. My fav was by far barbacoa but my sisters fav was the steak w cheese and green chillies. There is a toppings bar to add onions pico sauces salsas lime cucumbers etc. $2.60 a taco. The tacos can be flour or corn and then just the meat on top. Yum! read more

Carnes asada is always good, the reason for three stars is the plates in which they serve meals in- for the price of tacos you'd figure they would have enough to outfit some plates- this could be they do not employ a dishwasher or have one. The chicken thigh packaging plates were a turn off. If small Señor Taco has real plates, why can't this joint have any? Hope things will change, I can compare it feel like I'm eating at Food City. read more

Ta Carbon's claim to fame is the carne asada but I wouldn't stop there! The cabeza and the tazz tacos are even better! The cabeza has a deep strong flavor and the tazz , with its complement of cheese and chile, is a real surprise. If we had the capacity, we would have tried the burritos and others on the menu - but that is for the next time. read more

Yelp cannot go wrong! This place was amazing. It was Packed with people, great flavors and quite clean! We had a beef burrito, Mixto plata, a water, a Coke and unlumited veggies and it was a tad under $20! They used real charcoal grill, had friendly staff; food was great flavor and not salty at all. I definitely recommend this place! The service was Awesome and fast! The food is made fresh and was delicious ! The ambiance is chill !My husband had the tripas burrito which he recommends! And I had the Hazz burrito (carne asada green chili and cheese!) It was bomb! So if u are ever on this side of town you should stop in, You won't be disappointed! read more

One of my favorite salsas was hibiscus. We enjoyed our quick happy hour so much that we hope to come back for dinner as I see Mole is on the menu. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I hear that they have open a second venue not too far from the original place. They have an event venue. Their original place is in a former church. The architecture inside is very interesting due to the roof structure.

Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. If you like Mexican food and seafood, you need to try it. Great food, big portions, and a menu that makes it hard to stop ordering.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
