Rodeo burger with onion ring instead of smothered onion.

This was a place I always went as a child. The burgers, rings, and frappes among other things are sooo good . Pictures here is a west burger with onion ring in place of smothered onions.

    An incredible lakesdie view!

My husband and I were so excited to discover Taber's mini golf. Who knew that Auburn, ME was such a mecca for mini golf, with both Roy's and Taber's within 5 min of each other?!? (For the record, both are great in their own unique ways, and they combine to make an excellent day trip to Auburn). We came to Taber's on a Saturday evening and it definitely was busy - it seemed to be all locals as opposed to tourists, as the parking lot was 100% Maine license plates. Even with the slight crowds, we still didn't have to wait too long on any given hole, and we were able to use the extra time to soak in all the cool sights of this mini golf course. The mini golf course is beautifully maintained (not gonna lie, I LOVE a nicely manicured mini golf course where the greens are in tip-top shape), with lots of carvings of animals sprinkled across the course to set the scene. They even had a cute little fairy garden around one of the holes! The best part though was that, at around hole 9, you get an *epic* view - I'm so glad we came here around sunset, as we ended up getting some beautiful pics of our group with the lake in the background. It truly is an exceptional property, with a HUGE lawn and a driving range as well. This is one of those mini golf courses that will please both the serious golfers (the greens are so nicely maintained that the course feels fair if you want to have a competition within your group) and newbies (plenty of variety across the holes to keep things interesting for all). After mini golf, we grabbed a bite here as well. While we originally ate here because of the convenience (we worked up quite an appetite after 18 holes!), we were pleasantly surprised by the food. The hot dog was A++ (I am kind of a hot dog snob...), the fries were hot and shoe-string style (basically like an upgraded version of McDonalds - and I mean this as a compliment!), and the grilled cheese was perfect (I think this is the first time I've ever seen a round grilled cheese!). The food prices really can't be beat either. My husband and I have visited 100+ mini golf courses across the country, and this little spot in Auburn, Maine really impressed us and ranks high on our list of best mini golf courses in Maine.

Good memories from the past here. They have Mini golf, driving range, ice cream, burgers, onion rings and more. Our family gathered up here to sit around the picnic tables and go back in the past. We shared ice cream and rings and drove balls on a beautiful day and enjoyed the view.

This folks is the coleslaw...how much you ask....$2...for THIS!!!!

This has always been a place that my family goes during the summer. We usually fun putting on the mini golf course and eating lunch. This is part of what makes up our summer traditions. Of course over the years things have been updated. The mini golf course has become bigger and better and the driving course has had face lifts. Small things along the way that always make us even more eager to go for the new year. This year however....this year is horrible! The prices have skyrocketed and the quality has good down. You can't even eat the food because it tastes like cardboard! You have to pay an arm and a leg for it....and now are forced to wait 30minutes. For a hotdog and a burger! My summer traditions are fading.... Each golf by golf ball. Don't waste your time... Sorry...I love small business, but this one needs even more of a face lift.

Hands down one of the greatest cheeseburgers I've ever had. Added with the lakeside atmosphere on a nice summer day, this place is a hidden gem!

Do not waste your money. Keep on driving

Great spot for mini golf and roadside dining. It's not gourmet. Just good! Real frappes, famous beach style battered onion rings.

Roy's All Steak Hamburgers is not a new concept or business in Auburn. They have a location, which is only a restaurant, located at the split between Minot Ave and Washington Street North. The location on Route 4 is a fun center, or a term along those lines. They have a driving range, mini golf course, batting cages, disc golf and of course their food and famous ice cream. The driving range consists of a matted area and a grass area for the more avid golfers. The mini-golf course is an 18 hold adventure fun for all ages. They have 4 batting cages with levels for slow pitch softball, fast-pitch softball, little league and big league. They started off with a par-3 9-hole course and then converted it to a 9 hold disc golf course. They have a covered area if you want to rent for a birthday party and there is also a covered eating area around the food building. The food is more diner and foot truck style, but they have a large selection of options including a lobster roll for the seafood lovers. I mostly go for the sport aspect and don't eat there often. It's not because the food is not good, when I had it, it was 4 star worth and the ice cream gives it the 5th star. If you are looking to take the kids, or the family, to a spot that has multiple sporting options to choose from, Roy's All Steak Hamburgers and Golf Center is a must-stop. They also have antique cars show up once in a while.

The tent & cabin were both very clean & comfortable. The campground community bath house (when staying in a tent or cabin w/out bathroom) was also kept clean. The cabins could use a bit more privacy - all the huge, gorgeous, picturesque windows are problematic as (particularly in the winter) there's several other cabins w/full view into your windows. It would be nice if it was more of a private / woods view than looking into other cabins. That said, my daughter & I enjoyed our time and have been repeat customers. Would give it 4.5 stars (Yelp doesn't give half star option, but I needed to account for the lack of privacy in several of the cabins in the area we were in.). Overall a great option & we'll likely be back!

What to do in Freeport? VISIT THE DESERT!…read more This has been on my list for years and it did not disappoint. I kinda found it odd to pay $21 to explore the dunes but here's what we got for the price: - unlimited train rides - Ability to wander the desert - Executed their scavenger hunt - the kids rode a massive slide (unlimited) - we explored a fair/troll maze - dug for fossils - visited an old gas station - walked through an old home - unique playground This place isn't just the desert (and I don't mean the mini golf.) It's a little hidden wonder that offer families things to do. My kids (4 and 13) were fully immersed in the experience. The oldest was keeping the youngest involved in the scavenger hunt which he loved looking for the 'red' guy. The hands on portions fully captivated them. I was worried the walking might be a lot for the little guy but he didn't complain not once. It was explorative and interesting. Keep in mind, on hot days I bet you feel it! Bring sunblock, wear hats, closed toed shoes are best and water. Also, the big blue slide in the rear of the desert shoots little ones out like a cannon! I thought he broke his arm but he was ok! You've been warned.

The first 9 hole of the lower course are handicap accessible and I'm not sure if just the first 9 of the top course is accessible or if the whole course is accessible, but there are more ramps and sloping ground in the top course compared to the lower course. One thing I appreciate about both courses is that they are not repetitive like many other mini golf courses. Each hole has a unique aspect to it. The score card also has an I-spy checklist on the back, which gives groups another activity to do while playing or waiting for the group ahead of you to finish a hole. This is optional, but it ties into their theme of Maine wildlife. Everything here feels cohesive and their layout is well-planned. However, I do wish there was more lighting for the upper course. We played that one second, so it was getting dark and a few areas were difficult to see. Especially if you're going in the evening, I recommend playing the top course first if playing both. Their ice cream options were also good, with several unique offerings from Hersheys as well as some standard options. The ice cream prices seemed reasonable and on par with other places in the area. The mini golf prices are higher than some other places I've been (especially for playing both courses), but the courses were fun.

And looks alone it would seem to be worth it, but once you get on the course it's really "easy". Each hole is almost exactly the same. There's no real obstacles or challenge. Maybe a turn or a rock, but that's really it. It was pretty boring. An 18 hole took about 20 minutes. It's all looks, but no attraction. And for the high price ($25 a person) it's not really worth the trip.
