Delicious!

Just like the 5 star rating, this place is a Must!! When you visit Spain, do what the Spaniards do and relax. Enjoy the food, ambiance, the business and friendliness of the area. By far this little restaurant was a diamond in the rough. Passing by, you would think nothing less than doing just that and continuing to walk by. It's easy to get scared by the line forming across the street or their chalk board looking busy. If you ask me, if people are willing to wait , that's a sign of a good place. The wine and beer flowed freely and the food was served nice and hot. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Oh, and the price was right too!! Needless to say we came back 2 days in a row because not only was it that good, but it felt like I was at one of my friends house making small talk with new people from all over. I've seen the negative reviews here and I don't get it. Try it at least once. You won't be disappointed.

I was in Sevilla for just a few days and wanted to get some good tapas that weren't too pricy, so I headed here at the recommendation of Yelp and the person hosting us in the city. The place itself is in a relatively quiet part of Sevilla, but the restaurant is pretty much always busy. There were tons of people waiting outside and inside to get food here, which indicates it was either really hyped or really awesome. I ordered the pork with whisky sauce as well as the stuffed eggplant. I was going to order a third tapa but was glad I didn't because the portions were massive. The pork was great, not too overcooked and the whisky sauce was garlicky yet delicious. The eggplant was stuffed with an interesting combination of things -- it actually had shrimp in it which was good for the first few bites but then got a little overwhelming. The melted cheese on top and inside the eggplant was very good, however. My sister ordered the quail eggs and the potatoes with a tomato cream sauce and said they were both excellent. The food was so reasonably priced. I think our whole meal was 10€ which is a legitimate steal for tapas. The service was super friendly and everyone working there seemed happy to be there and was more than willing to answer any questions we had about the menu. I would certainly return if I were to come back to Sevilla!

Chocolate cheesecake. This was amazing. Not too rich. Just perfect.

Food: Phenomenal with great vegetarian options. My group was pleased with everything they ordered and almost everything on the menu tapas style. For dessert the Atmosphere: this is what wants you coming back. The waiter has so much enthusiasm and heart, makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Wait: while this place had a line both times we can for dinner, they are efficient at getting through the list. Plus, there is a nice park where you can sit, even take your drink from the bar, while you are waiting. I would not let a line deter you. Cost: (coming from a US perspective) this was very inexpensive. We ordered 6 tapas, four drinks and dessert and our bill was less than 25 euros.

Super rude service. The waitress totally ignored us and didn't bring us plates, after bringing out 3 plates of tapas. We had 7 people and we found plates ourselves. Food was also not good at all, we got this sardine, tomato and sugar cookie and it was the worst plate of food I had in Spain. We were very surprised with this high rating because the service or food justified the current 4 Star rating at all.

My favorite place, so much so that we stayed an extra night and came back here for our last meal in Spain. Come early if you don't want to wait and wear comfortable shoes as you may be standing at the bar to eat. Our favorite dishes were secret Iberico (prime cut of Iberian pork), pluma Iberico (top cut of Iberian pork), pechuga de pollo con salsa de almedras (chicken breast in an almond sauce), zanahoria alinada (carrots in vinaigrette), salmorejo (cold garlic tomato soup) and canasta cream (sweet dessert wine). If you like dry sherry def try their solera, manzanilla. It's light dry but crisp. If you are looking for a bottle we like the gloriouso. Our bill with 8 tapas and 5 glasses of wine was 30.80€.

We came here during holy week, so they were only open for a limited amount of time. They didn't have the whole menu available, because we came too early in the day, I would have really liked to have come back to try more of the menu. We ordered the quail egg with pork and bread, carrots, and octopus. The bread had a sort of tomato or pepper paste/sauce that worked perfectly with the egg and meat. This itself would make for a perfect meal. The carrots were terrific, similar to what my mother makes for Christmas, only with more garlic. We were always happy to find a vegetable dish that we liked. The octopus (served with onions and peppers) was good, but not as good as some of the other octopus dishes that we have tried on our Spanish adventures. The only real problem was that the onions were overpowering. A light roasting of the onions would have made a big difference.

By far the best tapas place I have encountered while studying abroad in Spain. True, I am on a college student's budget and probably have oftentimes chosen bars that provide complimentary tapas alongside a drink order or bought cheap sandwiches from mercadonas... But undoubtedly, I've had the best tapas experience in Taberna Coloniales. It's busy. Almost always when the kitchen is open, Coloniales will be busy. The wait, however, is always worthwhile because the food is just so good. Even the sangria (tourist drink or not) is one of the best I've come across - not too sweet, not too heady with wine, and perfectly spiced with cinnamon sticks and chunks of fruit. || My favorites so far - names are in English: || * Marinated octopus Salty and crisp, this is one of my favorite seafood taps yet. The chilled octopus is cut up into chewy dices and surrounded by diced onions, red and green bell peppers. It goes well as a sort of "salad" and palate refresher in between heavier tapas, such as the carne dishes. * Lightly fried eggplant with honey These aren't your typical eggplant medallions. No, Coloniales merely slices up whole egglants into thick slices that resemble French toast, fries them well, and then drizzles them with honey. That way, you get more eggplant and less of the fried part, which makes for a berenjenas fritas con miel dish that you can't forget. * Chicken with almond sauce Chicken was juicy and the almond sauce deliciously creamy. As a meat dish, it's bound to fill you up quite a bit. * Chicken with whisky sauce My favorite carne dish: The tender chicken is drizzled in a dark, flavorful whisky sauce and surrounded by soft, cooked garlic cloves that you can eat whole or cut open to reach only the pulpy insides. As a lover of strong flavors, this stood out. * Quail eggs and chorizo slices on bread The quail eggs are delicate, and thick chorizo slices wonderfully strong in flavor. I tend to order a ración size with other people (6 come out in ración size) and enjoy 2. I would have ordered the salmorejo, one of my favorite Spanish dishes, but unfortunately I couldn't find a tapa portion. Man, I'm salivating now.

Busy small restaurant, friendly staff, quick service, food is okish, fried cuttefish is our favorite, however, the tenderloin and chicken are a bit too dry.

Pork tapas...they call it tenderloin, excellent

If you are anywhere near this area, you should come here for some tapas and atmosphere. It is really worth the stop. Sitting outside is actually very nice and peaceful, there is a park right across street, and not too many cars come by on the street. It is a very small place, so not so good for groups, excellent for a date or just a couple friends, great wine, better food, and it is recommended by pretty much every local you ask in the area. I highly recommend this place for traditional Spanish lunch, extensive, extensive wine list. Not the cheapest in the area for sure, but well worth it. I simply liked sitting outside.

Away from the tourist area and amazing tapas. Three of us shared 9 tapas and a bottle of Rojas. All of them were super delicious and great veggie selections too. Want to keep coming back and try the whole menu.

Knowing we were going to eat a lot during a food tour, we settled on some small tapas (ham, cheese, bread, and olives) and got some sangria and a beer. I came here due to a yelp recommendation because like most westerners unaccustomed to the Spanish way of living I was hungry at about 7 pm and needed something to eat. Yay yelp to the rescue. The place was crowded and there were no seats available when I arrived. There were many small groups congregated around tables and a few couples as well. It isn't obvious how to proceed once you come in the door so I probably stood there awkwardly for a few minutes near the door before making my way to the bar to what looked to be a vacant seat. A gentleman informed me that it belonged to his girlfriend so I was forced to now stand awkwardly next to the bar. Bar tender to the rescue explaining that if I waited he was pretty sure someone would leave soon and I could order a drink while I waited. I ordered a sangria and also inquired about food but was told that I need to have an actual seat in order to order food. After nursing my drink for about 20 mins when I was about to pay and head out to find somewhere else to eat, a spot finally opened up and I was treated to the most delicious steak and potatoes and zucchini tapas. This had to be one of the most delicious things I have eaten on this vacation. When I finally vacated my seat to save a pair of new arrivals, there was a line outside of people waiting for the opportunity to eat here. I might chance it again before I leave Seville. I highly recommend for the food and friendly waiters but wish there was a way to turn seats over more quickly. One guy kept insisting he was saving his girlfriend's seat but in the 90 mins I spent there she never showed up. Who knows if she ever existed. Bread comes free with your tapas order and really complimented the meal.

The layout can be a bit confusing, as the restaurant seems to have three dining rooms with separate entrances but only one kitchen. Where we sat was charming, with stone walls and wood-beamed ceilings. We started with the foie appetizer, which was a delightful surprise for my palate. It was a unique combination of foie, cream cheese, and what I believe was pear. It was unusual, but I ended up really enjoying it. The zucchini noodles with pesto and burrata were also very enjoyable. However, the star of our dinner was the 40 day dry aged ribeye, cooked perfectly medium-rare, tender, and absolutely delicious.
