He makes you feel like you are important and like has has plenty of time for you. He gets the little ones laughing and before you know it... exam complete. He even managed to administer a strep test with limited crying. This is a one of a kind doctor and I cannot recommend him highly enough. We saw him this morning with an exchange student (6 years old from inner city NYC) who developed a bad cough. In those 10 years, I've lived in Manhattan, Philadelphia and Washington DC. I always make the trip to Richmond to see her because she is that good. She patiently listens to her patients and offers practical information and guidance. Over the years, Dr. Zeckman has offered to refer to me a local doctor and I always used to refuse. She was so good and I only had to make the trip to see her once a year. Back in May (2015) I had my last appointment with Dr. Zeckman. She confirmed I was pregnant during that visit. Since there are a lot of obgyn appointments in store for me I will now have to find a local obgyn but begrudgingly;) Also her nurse- Vicki is super sweet and very organized. They are a great team.

He is very ignorant and self absorbed. He had a whole argument with me because I didn't know that the Clear Care contact cleaner case had to replaced with every new bottle of the solution. He argued with me that there is directions on the box for it but there actually was no directions on the box. There was actually an article on Yahoo that published that stated that Clear Care contact solution does not label the directions accurately. The office was empty with no patients so that should have been my first red flag. No one even said "Hi." or "How are you?" Nothing. The doctor asked me why I was there and I said I had an appointment at such and such time. He just stared at my blankly and then very condescendingly said "normally, one addresses who they are and why they are here when they walk in" I should have walked out right then. He asked me to fill out some paperwork along with a HIPPA. As I started to read the HIPPA he told me to just sign it and that was just a form to release my information. I told him I knew but I just wanted to read what I was signing. He continued to make rude comments on how I just needed to sign the paper. Somewhere along the way, he walks away and another (unfriendly) staff member tries to get my insurance straight. She took my card and told me I had no coverage for an exam. I told her that was incorrect and I had my breakdown of my coverage with me. I showed it to her and she brushed me off and said "that's not what my system is telling me" She then tried to get my insurance company on the phone but when she was unsuccessful the first time, she gave up and said maybe I could try to get someone on the phone. Umm...that is not my job. That is something you should have done PRIOR to my arrival. After all, that is why I gave you my ID number when I scheduled my appointment. Clearly with the lack of patients in the office they should have had plenty of spare time to do this before I arrived for my appointment. I finally got so fed up with their lack of help and how rude everyone in the office was, I took every paper I signed and left. There were no apologies. No help. Nothing. They are some of the rudest, laziest people I have ever met. I would never go back there and I would never trust this doctor or his staff. I hate that I am even giving them my time right now to write this review but this was just how bad they were. Hopefully I can spare someone else from wasting their time and their patience with this doctor and his staff.

I continued to travel back to Fairfax to get my checkups to make sure the invisalign was moving my teeth appropriately, until I was complete with the treatment. Fortunately they had evening and weekend hours so it worked out well. Anyway, at that time I was considering a switch to a dentist in Richmond... I can't even remember where I looked them up... but talk about a horror of a dentist experience. It was somewhere in the RVA fan area... and all the dentist equipment was old and rusty looking and the customers their were literally psychotic... this probably happened 9 years ago... I still remember it like it was yesterday. I waited for awhile and the dentist called me in took the X-rays... mind you I was using my teeth to hold the biggest contraption known to man... not one thing I was used to... it looked like a contraption from the 70's and I just came from a super sophisticated dentist in Fairfax. I literally hurt my jaw holding it. The doctor had to go in and out to handle these other psychotic patients that had complaints... and after 45 min in the dentist told me I had to come back another time for a cleaning and an actual checkup. Seriously I was like definitely not! Long story short I actually out in a complaint with my insurance on the dentist. So for probably 5 or so years I continued going back to my dentist in Fairfax because I was too scared to try someone new. Then of course I got pregnant over 3 years ago and I finally thought to myself, I can't keep going to see the dentist in Fairfax. So I decided to take the plunge and see my husband's dentist Dr. Zentgraf... so glad I did. His team of hygienists are super nice as he is too and made me feel right at home. Also doesn't hurt that I haven't had any cavities since I've been going to him (just wait I probably just jinxed myself). Regardless, I highly recommend Dr. Zentgraf as your dentist if you live on the south side. The best part is that there is hardly ever any wait! You get there on time sign in and within a few minutes they call you to the back... always quick visits!

Robert has advanced technology, is meticulous in his exams, extremely knowledgeable in conditions of the eye, has a kind demeanor and has become a family friend (my parents still see him). I don't know what I will do when he retires, but I have been grateful for discovering a fantastic Opthamologist.
