    THE Chef Anderson
    Jenn J.

Taco-Dirty to us! PLEASE!! TA-Que gave us soooo much to taco bout!!! Ok ok we'll stop with the puns. Chef Tyler Anderson of Millwrights has created a magical wonderland of Tacos from a food truck in the parking lot no less!! A wooden patio is adorned with umbrella tables, utensils and water dispensers and a deck that overlooks the waterfall. The deck is by far the best seat in the house! When you walk up, there's a contactless menu, followed by a hosted kiosk to place your order and grab your drinks. You'll be given a number and free to select your own seating. When your food is ready, a server brings it right to you!! We got to see Chef in action. And well, isn't he just a dream? He looks so at home and having a blast in Gus element. It's inspiring. We selected Agua Fresca, which is a blend of strawberry, pineapple, lime juice and mint with vodka (mocktail version is available), a margarita and the following tacos: Vampiro: cheese, smoked brisket, avocado Smoked Chicken: fried kale, lime crema, chickpeas Baja Fish: tempura cod, malt vinegar powder, cabbage slaw Mushroom "Chorizo": salsa verde, cotoja cheese Pork Belly: "al pastor", pineapple, cilantro, onion Smoked Sausage: pickled onions, mustard crema Most Loved: Pork Belly-the contrast of sweet and savory was a big win Wish for a Remix: Mushroom "Chorizo"-we'd prefer slices of mushroom rather than what we took to be a purée To finish off the seats with a view, we decided to try the banana pudding, something neither of us has ever had. And tbh, it was startling surprise! The combination of whipped cream, with the smoothness and richness of the banana pudding, real slices of banana and chocolate (we don't even know how or what) made us feel as though we won the jackpot on Chef Anderson's cooking show. If this was be our last meal ever, it'd been well worth it. The pudding...EPIC! We can't wait to come back and get our fill on the rest of the line up! Cheers to the best TA-Que Tuesday ever!!

Ta-Que, how do I love thee... let me count the ways.. 1. The hot honey chicken taco special. It sang of fresh, real honey, with a back hit of heat. I honestly could have ate 13 of those chicken tendies on there. They paired it with pickle and their fresh, crunchy slaw and it was a slam dunk for me. 2. Vampiro, oh sweet, toasty, cheesy, beefy beautiful taco.. it's folded over and cheesy and crispy and I haven't even got to the brisket yet. These boys were smoking it right. Delicate and flavorful and everything you'd want 3. Fish taco, that malt powder turns this taco into a memorable bite. Perfectly crispy and fresh. 4. Sausage was really good I just would've rather had it on side. 6. Gringo taco.. almost perfect. It's like everything you want a Standard taco to be. It sent me into a fat girl shimmy that rivals all fat girl shimmies. 5. Street corn. It's one of my fav things and it's done correctly here. Smothered in sauce and flavor 6. The drinks.. margarita and agua Fresca. It was so bright and fresh w the perfect effervescence. 7. Service.. unmatched. They let the hubs peek at smoker and we even had a group hug to celebrate our delicious meal with a gentleman with an excellent dread of hair! Gal at counter was super friendly and noticed my husbands brisket and chill shirt and shaded him for not getting the brisket taco lol. We both laughed then added on the brisket taco. It was my second fav taco too. 8. Ambiance.. so cute, waterfall, brook, cute tiki umbrellas. I'm devastated I finally got to this place on the last week of their season. I'll be counting down the days until their next season.. until then, I love you Ta-Que

Fish tacos and mushroom chorizo nachos

Visit this spot throughout the summer. Definitely stick to the tacos, the fish taco is one of the best I've ever had. Also love the mushroom chorizo and I like getting the nachos topped with it. The agua fresca is my go to and if it's been a long day is even better with a tequila shot in it. Views are perfect to have a relaxing dinner.

Love their tacos! So happy that they have an outpost at New Park Brewing. I highly suggest the Vampiro taco and the nachos (with pork belly of course!)

Beef brisket rice bowl with red pickled onions, cojita cheese, and avocado crema! Delicious!

This food truck is found in Millwrights parking lot in Simsbury. There was plenty of parking space and had an organized spot to line up to order food at the top of the lot. We were greeted by friendly staff and given menus and even had the option to scan the menu with our phone. The manager was super social and walked right up to us and shared a special for the evening that was not listed on the menu, of oyster tacos. I declined because I am not a fan of oysters but was impressed they offered a special, and felt special that the manager himself introduced it! He also made his way along the dining area and made sure everyone was taken care of, which I appreciated in the visit. Menu options included tacos, burritos, rice bowls, and other side options like nachos, street corn and quesidillas. I decided to get the beef brisket rice bowl. The girl that took our order was super sweet and offered a complimentary sample tasting of their aqua Fresca which was like a strawberry, pineapple mint lime infused water. It was refreshing! After we ordered they gave us a number and we walked down a flight of stairs to the cutest little patio area of colorful picnic tables and grass covered umbrellas and beautiful outdoor lights! There was a table set up with complimentary water, paper napkins and plastic utensils. And then a pathway of a deck area with barstool seating and beautiful views if the waterfall and river! It was so peaceful and definitely a chill vibe for a summer night. We took in our surroundings and before I knew it, a server brought us over our food! And boy was I impressed! The bowl was filled with rice, beans and beef brisket. It was tender and the blend of toppings were red pickled onions, cojito cheese and avocado crema, and the taste was just perfect together! That avocado crema was my favorite and i could have drank it, since it was that good! The portion size was just right and I even had some left over to bring home! I had such a great evening and will definitely be going back for the tacos next time!

Wow! Finally found a night when the line wasn't an hour long, so we could try TA-QUE! We've been a fan of Millwright's for awhile. Great pub and amazing upscale dining. Our son and daughter-in-law got married here, and it was a gorgeous setting with incredible food. TA-QUE is their new outdoor taco truck with outdoor seating overlooking the river. We've been watching this place for awhile, so we were really excited to eat here. So... the setting is just outstanding. It's hard to even explain how amazing you will feel sitting here. We sat at the bar are overlooking the river, and honestly you will forget you are in Simsbury and think you are vacationing somewhere exotic! The beautiful view with a lovely breeze. Unfortunately you won't get a full picture of our meal because we dove into it! The tacos are amazing! Pork belly is full of flavor and the chicken is delicious! The nachos look small, but they are so loaded with meat, queso, avocado, and sour cream that you almost get full just looking at them. We definitely will come back, and you definitely should try this out!!!!

This restaurant is owned by Millwrights, located right in their parking lot. You start by ordering your drinks and food up top at the food truck, they give you a number and you head downstairs to the patio on the river. They deliver the food and drinks right to your table. We tried an array of things, the nachos were full of flavor, the chips crispy. The pork belly could have been slightly more crispy on the outside however the meat was tender. We also had a couple tacos, all were great. My favorite was the Mexican corn. Full of flavor.

We tried their to go bbq truck at mill rights parking lot and it was good! Would recommend their smoked chicken chic pea bowls and the sliced pork belly. Surprisingly enough the banana pudding was a nice complement too! We don't have enough places like this locally so it's nice to have around.

    The view

So a bunch of my friends and I decided to go out the next day after a hard game of Polo and to brighten up the spirits of someone who just broke her leg in the game. When we got there at first we were a little baffled but the servers explained everything and it was actually quite easy from there on out. They even helped bring our broken friend down to the patio area so we could be closer to the view. The food was absolutely delicious we had almost everything on the menu including the drinks which the only thing I'd have to say is I'm going to possibly visiting a lot more often so I hope that they change the drinks up frequently to keep things interesting. We ended up staying for the 3-4 hours & ended the night with some banana bread pudding complementary of the chef. I think I could literally eat that all day long.

We were the only ones in the restaurant today at lunch. Our food was promptly served and my mom really enjoyed her Miguel's Tacos, however my chicken enchiladas left a lot to be desired. They were smothered with cheese that tasted like plastic. The sauce tasted like watered down tomato paste. The meal didn't taste right and the visual of the cheese piled up on the side of my plate made me feel queasy. It was even sunken into my beans. My gut was telling me to just stop eating altogether.. On top of this, our waiter, Juan, never came by to ask how we were doing or to fill our water. He seemed totally disinterested in serving us, with no enthusiasm whatsoever, a complete lack of energy in all he did. When he finally returned after we were done eating, I expressed my disappointment about my lunch (which I wish I could have told him sooner so maybe I could have tried something else), and thankfully he removed my meal from the bill. He also apologized for abandoning us at our table. (Adding that nobody even came over to re-fill our salsa, and my mom had to ask the girl helping Juan twice for a refill.) Overall I was really let down by this experience. I love Mexican food and I was excited to come here. I still pressed the 18% tip button when I checked out because my mom enjoyed her tacos, however when I reviewed the receipt after I left I found that their calculator includes the food AND Connecticut state tax as the basis for their tip calculation! Unacceptable!! When businesses do this, it really upsets me. I'm mad at myself for not inputting my own tip, but I honesty did not feel good after lunch. I've been burping constantly since I left and I can tell that the food I ate has upset the balance of the my microbiome =( I feel like I have plastic in my stomach. I will not come back to the restaurant and I'm hesitant to recommend it. Wish we went to our usual Mexican spots instead (Ochos, Puerto Vallarta).

I walked in on schedule and my food was already waiting for me at the front with the hostess whom was friendly. I checked to see how long it would take me to get home since I'm not from around here and the map said about an hour and 15mins. I was so hungry and decided to find a quaint parking spot to enjoy my food. For the first time I decided hmm maybe I should eat this in the backseat in case I accidentally make a mess. (Best idea ever, it's so much better than eating in the front) Anywho all that information just to say that when I pulled my food out, it was in the most perfect container and it was actually plated so nicely. I don't think I've ever had takeout look so presentable lol. I also appreciated all the garnishes that it came with. I got the tacos birria which also came with rice, I think this is the first time I've had a restaurant serve rice with the birria which I also appreciated, as well as the refried beans. I will say I wish the birria wasn't as soft as it was but I'm sure it was because it sat there for a little. No biggie. Everything was tasty, the consome was good, not the best I've had but it was still good! I also got chips n guac which they give you a really nice portion. I'll be eating guac n chips for the next 3 days hahaha Overall I would return and try something else. Their carne asada looks delicious. Thank you

I was polite but inquisitive about why my order was missing the 2 other fajitas. Bartender put me on hold and stated the kitchen put our three orders together in one box. When I said why would they put three seperate fajitas in one box. Her response was "why not?" with a condescending attitude. When I arrived and showed the cooks and servers my portion and the fact it was missing peppers and onions. I told them I was treated very disrespectfully on the phone and the server replied that was not me and I said okay it's really unacceptable to talk to people this way!! I told them that you do not serve three separate meals for three seperate people to share their takeout in 1 box. Well the bartender was overhearing and walked over to let me know it was her on the phone and got into a full blown argument with me in front of her two customers at the bar and the 1 table sitting and eating. I am talking yelling back and forth across the restaurant. Absolute maddening, disgusting, disrespectful, person. Trying to make me feel like shit that I am complaining? Literally made fun of me, mocking me for complaining I didn't get peppers and onions. It was absolutely shocking I had to compose myself because she even mocked me when I said I had my baby in the car and had to return here and she said "wow you left your baby in the car alone" And I told her no my friend who stayed outside waiting 20min for you to mess up her take out is in the car with my baby. Again all in front of her other customers. Disgusting. I've worked in this industry 15+ years and if anyone made a mistake in the kitchen or at the bar, my job was always to treat them kindly and correct any mistakes or issues so they leave with a pleasant experience. AS THEY SHOULD. I never leave bad reviews but this place truly deserves it. The bartender was abhorrent & the food was also terrible. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Pretty area but I was honestly thinking it was going to be more quaint and romantic. It was not. The area is somewhat narrow which makes tables spaced close together and it's really not that private. But the space is nicely decorated and if you sit on the right side (which we did), you're right in front of the waterfall. I would try the dining room next time just to compare. Our server Anthony was professional, kind of and accommodating. We started with cocktails - I had a creative gin drink called Dot Dot Dot. My husband loved his Old Fashioned - he meant to ask what type of bourbon they used because he thought it was very good. With the tasting menu - many of the options apparently change regularly though based off other reviews it appears there may be similar options from time to time. We started with their Johnny Cakes which the waiter said the restaurant is known for. Another reviewer ranked them a 7.5/10 and I couldn't disagree more. They were one of the tastiest bites I've eaten in a while. Crispy, buttery and divine. I thought they were to die for. Served with creamy honey sesame butter which was also delicious. My husband doesn't eat fish so for his amuse bouche he had a little puff served with cheese, that was amazing. For his first course - he had the Ricotta Raviolis. They were as beautiful as they were delicious. My amuse bouche was a tuna tartare that was a perfectly balanced bite. I had the Tapioca custard as my first course. The bacon was a bit too smokey for my taste and overpowered the dish in my opinion. It could have used a bit more liquid but it was a unique few bites. For our mains, my husband's porcini risotto was rich, creamy, and full of earthy flavor. I had the bass with cauliflowerini, golden raisin-caper gremolata, Marcona almonds, and a cauliflower purée--thoughtfully composed and very flavorful. The final savory course was a crispy duck breast with port-poached pear, port reduction, and sweet potato purée, which was beautifully executed. Dessert was a pomegranate pavlova--crisp on the outside with that perfect soft, marshmallowy center. A delightful finish to the meal. Overall, the dishes were not only delicious but also thoughtfully composed and visually striking. It made for a memorable experience, and we're already looking forward to coming back--maybe in a different season to see how the menu evolves.
