Came here for quick lunch. Was looking for someplace super close, remembered seeing this on the drive back home couple of times. Firstly it's so cute the location. The hosts are super friendly and felt lot of positivity entering in. Given the development of egg allergy I am limited to very few options at Asian restaurants. But to my surprise they had an option of removing the egg from the fried rice. So we got the usual pineapple chicken fried rice (forgot to post it) it's definitely a comfort having that. We got the crab puffs and a unique curry (don't skip on this one, I haven't had this anywhere else) the evil jungle princess..it's got shredded cabbage, mushrooms and chicken in coconut milk (that's all too it!) it was amazing! I didn't want the jasmine rice so they give you an option to swap for other things, I went with the steamed rice noodles (oh wow!) that entire combo was amazing! Paired it with the unsweetened cold green tea. We wanted something simple and non- experimental and were glad this place is so close, and the food is just amazing here! Nothing super fancy just good Thai comfort food! Good options of appetizers, mains, noodles, combos, curry's and desserts. Ta Lew...what to say... Clean, friendly staff, comfortable environment and relaxing music, good initial signs. I ordered the red curry chicken with a hot spice level, the usual as you'll know a bite of hades is in order. A fellow diner who ordered moments before us got the food first and was practically done by the time mine and my other diners food came. Granted they were getting busier and as such I can't hold that as a gripe against them. The food itself, meh. Presentation wasn't bad, but the floating red oil was slightly off putting. The chicken was pretty good and was accented by the flashing neon of green peppers and flare orange carrots. Yet the LEGION of bamboo shoots was quite overpowering. The curry itself was not hot (taste) in the slightest, I'd personally pinpoint it as a mild. The curry itself shared much the same flavor as the rice, garlic and sweet notes while lacking the creaminess/thickened texture of a non-soupy curry. Yes, the rice taste was...off. Overall I was not a fan. It's not bad, it just wasn't great. As stated before, the staff was really nice and the place was well cared for, positives for sure. And of course as always this is simply ONE of many menu items and just because this wasn't a winner, it doesn't mean they don't have one. Their noodle dishes aren't great - often lacking dimensional flavor or on the other hand being too salty. If you stick to their curries, you can't go wrong. Our family loves their massaman curry. Very nice decor. Take out or dine in. Super friendly staff. Had the Tom Kai soup and Basil chicken. Both were excellent. Only 4 star because the soup was only one size (huge) for $16. We've been going here since they opened on Queen Creek Rd. What a great place! Service is always fast and friendly! The food is so consistent and well done. We love the mussaman curry is our favorite go to dinner! It's usually pretty quiet when we go, but every now and then there is the family that can't seem to control their children and can make things a bit uncomfortable, but hey they are only kids for a short time so you deal with it. read more

It is a very cute restaurant inside the people were very nice the decor was fun and fresh! You don't deal with humans a lot throughout your dining experience so that can be a positive or a negative depending on how you like to dine but it doesn't bother me either way really! When I did speak with the workers they were super nice and helpful! For the food, I'll say based on the reviews I was underwhelmed and everyone else in my group was as well. The drunken noodles were the best dish by far! The pad Thai was super sweet and bland. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't the best and it was surprisingly OK. The pad Thai was pretty tasty. The Panang curry was full of flavor and unexpectedly, the orange chicken was better than I anticipated. I'm not trying to be a food snob, but I did not expect orange chicken to be on the menu of a Thai restaurant. I only ordered it because my younger son wanted it looking at the photos of the Tom kha soup, we decided against it because it had cabbage (?). I've never been to a Thai restaurant where cabbage was part of the coconut milk soup. We decided to not order it based on that alone. It was weird because it felt like a fast food restaurant. It also had a drive-through window which was odd and you had to pay upfront versus at the end of a meal. The people were friendly enough and the dinner was OK. It wasn't the best but it was OK and the place was better than we anticipated considering it had orange chicken on the menu. read more

Ordered 2go last night for dinner 2/24. I had tried 2go once from their original location but i didn't like that their pad Thai was tomato based. This location is about 10 mins from my house. This was easy to order online & made in ~10mins. When picked up there were ~12 people running around the building from the boot camp that made parking a little difficult. I was the only customer. Food was ready, lady was really nice, but taste was just OK. Pineapple rice with No spice tasted like turmeric & think pineapple from a can & didn't include any meat for price. I had a hankering for spice today, so lunch was Ta Lew 2 yellow curry chicken. I was feeling brave so I ordered it Thai hot. I am really glad I did. The spice level was perfect. Enough to make my eyes sweat but not so much that I turned into a weeping mess. The kitchen was quick and the dish was served piping hot. The biggest inconsistency I find with yellow curry at some Thai restaurants is the "doneness" of the potatoes. Some places are undercooked and crunchy, some are overdone and mushy. Ta Lew nailed it with the carrots, onion, chicken and potato all perfectly done. The place was quiet, but I was having a late lunch so I wasn't surprised. woot woot for the second location WITH A DRIVE THRU WHHHHHHHAAAAAAT?!?!?! I absolutely love having this option especially for quick pick ups - I don't have to park? I don't have to get out of the car AND upclip the kids? AND I get delicious food at the end? win win for me :D Basically the only reliable thai place in the area and thankfully it's an amazing one. Food is always on point. If you dine in, you order at the front kinda like cafeteria style, then they bring your food to the table but everything else, you have to grab on your own. This was our first visit to Ta Lew and it was a good one. The customer service was excellent for the size of the small size of the restaurant. There is counter service for take out and a few tables for eating in. It was quiet and comfortable. All our dishes were very good. Serves piping hot and fresh. The spices were fragrant with lemon grass and ginger... the spice level up to you Prices were a little steep for lunch and I suggest as lunch menu to generate day customers. Okay I have to tell you guys the background so you can decide yourself. About a year ago husband picked this up on the way home. Bland. Way overpriced for what we got. The orange chicken was like puff balls of fried air with some chicken. Even my kids didn't want it. He said the pad Thai was bland (he almost never says anything other than positive things about meals. Never questions something unless to know what's in it when he really likes it. Keep reading until the end...) Tried it again a couple months later. Same thing except this time I went and couldn't help but still clearly remember how rude the lady was at the register. Decided to try it again and to my happy surprise I ORDERED TO THE WRONG ONE! I ordered to Thai Bistro 1 on Ray and Higley. WOW! What a difference. Didn't get the orange chicken but got the same exact curry and pad Thai and omg the spicy was insane. The flavors bold and identifiable. Ordered pick up from this Thai joint and I must say I thought it was quite pricey for the amount and quality of good. My favorite dish was their pineapple fried rice and it looks like they make their own chili paste or if they buy it then they get it from a good supplier because it's very tasty and has a good kick. The pad Thai and yellow curry were decent and the pad see ew was not very good. Dumplings were also very lackluster and they definitely didn't taste homemade. We had been to the location on Higley and Ray, but decided to try this location on Christmas Day for dinner. We did have to wait awhile, but we expected that bc it was Christmas. Yellow Curry and Garlic Shrimp entrees were amazing! Service was fantastic and we ran into friends there which made it even better. So glad we found this location! Ta Lew Thai Bistro opened a second location near me and I couldn't be happier! Anytime we have a craving for Thai food, we can now get it in under a five-minute drive. We usually call ahead and within 15 minutes, our order is ready. Our go to is a shrimp and/or tofu pad thai and panang curry. Just like their first location, the food is flavorful and the portions are pretty generous. Enough to have leftovers. The staff is very friendly both over the phone and in person. We're always greeted as soon as we enter. The interior is clean and offers plenty of seating. Prices are reasonable as well. We will continue to order from this location! read more

I was craving Thai food after my wife's massage appointment. I searched for a place nearby through Yelp and this place was highly rated. When we arrived, most of the staff was eating lunch at one large table along with small children. Only one other table had a couple dining there. One of the ladies came from the table to the front behind the counter and greeted us. She asked if we dined there before and we replied we hadn't! She handed us two menus and told us when we decided what we wanted to return to the counter and place our orders. There is also an overhead menu above the counter. I ordered the Pad kee mao with shrimp and my wife ordered Green curry with shrimp. My Pad Kee Mao came out unappealing in appearance. There was no color on the flat noodles, no hot wok singe marks, just pale bland looking noodles and there wasn't much of it. The noodles were so over salted I couldn't finish it. I did eat the shrimp however because it did not absorb a lot of the salt or whatever was used that made it salty. My wife's green curry was very watery and not the normal consistency of curry. Usually it's a little thicker than water. My wife asked me to try the curry. I did and it was just as salty. I almost spit it out. It was like salt water. It was so salty, I couldn't even taste the curry. I did make an observation. When we arrived and most of the staff were at the large table eating, there was a single guy in the kitchen cooking. I thought he was the main cook. Then when the staff finished eating lunch while we were eating our meal, an older Thai woman was cooking in the kitchen and he was gone. Was she the main cook and was she on her lunch break when we arrived? Because what we ate was not Thai food! Both dishes were probably the worst version of those dishes we ever had! Oh! We also ordered dessert. We had Mango and sweet sticky rice. It was different! Good, but different from what we're use to. Will we return? I don't know! This place has four and a half stars for a reason. Did we arrive at the wrong time? Was the guy who cooked our food a line cook or perhaps the dish washer? Whatever the reason is for our experience here, I hope it was an isolated incident and I did let the manager or owner know in a nice way about our food so she could relay it to whoever cooked our food. Food was fantastic. We regularly get Thai food and we are new to the area. We have been spoilt by friends who own a Thai restaurant in PA. Saying that we know what good Thai food tastes like. Making this my third order of the week, now I'm sad because the lady in the front was so rude I don't ever want to come to this location! After showing the order name multiple times I was treated awful. I ordered three meals and this level of rudeness was unacceptable. It was OK. Not great. Trying to find a good Thai restaurant in Queen Creek is proving to be a little difficult.

We first went to the to go version of this restaurant right off the 202 but call me crazy, I really really dislike Styrofoam to go food and only do it if it's the only option. I was disappointed to see they only did to go but thankfully learned that they have this dine in location just S of the 202 location 8ff Queen Creek. Staff was welcoming, helpful with the menu and prompt. The place is clean, updated, and aesthetically pleasing decor and ambiance. The green and red curry were STUPENDOUS! I LOVED that my green curry was plentiful with that delicious eggplant. The coconut milk was the perfect flavor and the rice was also perfect. My family all enjoyed it and hubs and I were especially glad to have found a new Thai place in the area. read more

I was sooo excited to have a Ta Lew closer to me. Unfortunately I was so disappointed. My husband, daughter and I went for lunch and all of our dishes were so bland. I was stoked for a delicious bowl of flavorful, hot curry. Unfortunately I received a very lukewarm bowl lacking in flavor. There was no spice and no depth. I was sad. The prices are on the high side and unfortunately not worth it. My husband's Pad Thai was not great either, and my daughter's noodle dish had no flavor.
