I came to the store to buy my son a standalone Apple Watch with his its own phone number for him. I have friends who had done this before with their children and I thought it would be a great idea. After spending 25 minutes with the young man to get to the correct Verizon account, he insisted that I had to buy a phone to connect the watch to. It soon became very clear he did not know what he was doing. Finally the manager, Said, came over and said yes we could buy a watch that would stand alone with its own number. So I purchased the watch and left the store to set it up-only to find that it was connecting to my phone number. I then took the watch to a different Verizon store and asked them to help me. They said that the store I went to failed to activate the watch at the time of purchase so that it could be stand alone- Even though they issued me a new phone number for it. They said I would have to return it to that same store and they would refund my money and then I could re-purchase it there with them activating it correctly. At this point I was so frustrated that I said I did not want to go back into that store and deal with people who don't know what they're doing. I asked could they sell me a new watch and set it up correctly and then I return the other watch To the other store later. They said yes but there's probably a $35 restocking fee however I can't imagine they would charge you since it was their error. So I bought a new watch and had it set up correctly at the other store. When I went to return the original watch to the New Port Richey store there is a $50 restocking fee. The manager acknowledged that his team screwed up but that it was my responsibility to come back to their store so they could fix the error. So learn from my $50 lesson- go anywhere else but this store. And curious how much more do they inflate their prices than other stores???? Didn't know that was a thing but now I do!
