I especially like their holiday gift sets that they place on tables right as you walk in - pretty much for any budget from $5, $10, $15, $20 and higher. We went today and bought a few gift items for those secret Santa / yankee swap gifts and holiday parties. Got a really nice "book" box of assorted teas 60 teabags for 9.99! A chocolates and cookies Ghirardelli's gift set for $20, an Italian chocolate box for $7 and a small box of Belgian chocolate for $5. Also picked up some snacks - moose munch caramel popcorn and a last minute checkout aisle grab of Cuddl Duds socks 4 pair pack for $10. Came home and wore them - very soft and warm cozy! Also got an arabbiata pasta sauce jar. Oh and a festive table runner for $17. Cashier was friendly and helped while I was loading our bags. Restroom was actually not too bad. I had a really disappointing experience at the TJ Maxx on Newbury Street in Boston today. I went out of my way to buy a TJ Maxx gift card for a birthday, waited nearly 20 minutes in line, and found only six card designs at the register. When I asked the cashier if they had any other styles, she said no, but as I was leaving I noticed dozens of other gift cards displayed elsewhere in the store. By then, I didn't have time to wait again. The cashier seemed either poorly trained or just didn't care to help, which made the whole experience frustrating and a waste of time. read more

I wish there was a TJ Maxx like this near my home! The price range alone is so amazing so you can get a pile of really great deals when you want to spent like me (I am pretty thrifty but grab the occasional Calvin Klein or two) or are looking to score some Gucci at a stupid great deal. They have quite the runway collection. The most impressive thing to me was their collection of beauty supplies - shampoos, conditioner, brushes, makeup and all sorts of facial stuff. I usually come to this store to find nice discounted items. But very sad, their security department isn't always on duty. I was foolish enough to put my messenger bag on top of the shopping cart while trying a shirt on top of my Tshirt, I never thought someone was watching me, but "not security", a tall man run away with my bag, phone and wallet inside. I immediately Called the manager on Duty, but he didn't do anything but take my info in case they found the bag... I asked to call the police and he declined , "no visible security presence in the store", I wonder if they do the same if it was theft of their own merchandise. I felt alone and unsafe... Please, if you "as a customer" visit this store in the Back bay, be careful of your personal Belongings. Because this criminal Activity might happen again. I called the next day and no help or security attention. I went there in the evening and no help again. Hope this review makes this store be more aware of us as consumers. read more

So far this is the best TJ Maxx in Boston. There are three floors with Woman's accessories and luggage on the first floor, Women's on 2nd, and Men and housewares on the 3rd floor. It's (so far -- i don't expect this to last) super organized versus the relative jumble of a normal TJ Maxx. It shines in higher-end men's fashion, with larger-than-normal areas devoted to brands like Taylor Byrd, and my favorite Vineyard Vines. read more

This is bar far my favorite TJ Maxx. They have such a large selection from everyday clothing/bags/shoes to discounted luxury brands like Gucci, Chloe,and Chloe. This location is always extremely neat & organized. I like that they usually have certain shirt styles in multiple sizes, unlike other stores where you'll find a shirt you like but there's only one available. This is an awesome location and very easy for me to get to because I live not too far from it. I shop here from time to time. The prices here are not bad at all and the employees are always very helpful. The fitting rooms are always clean and well kept up. The ladies who take care of the fitting room are always real nice. This store has more than one level so you will be going from floor to floor to find what you need. I got a lot of good deals on some beauty products here. You can find beauty products here that are kind of high end sold at better prices than you would pay at say Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom and what not. And they also have some very, very inexpensive brands that you really won't find in too many places. I got a really good sized cosmetic bag made of velvet for only about $7 plus a set of 6 nail polishes for $3 and also a set of 6 eyeshadows for $3. The quality of the cosmetic bag is really good and it is a bag that I probably would have paid about $20 or $30 in the types of stores that I usually shop in. So I got a really good deal on it. The quality of the cosmetics that I bought is also very good and it is amazing how the eyeshadow stayed on longer than some of the brands that I pay about $55-$60 for a set of six eyeshadows like the one I got here. The parking around here can be kind of tough since the store is located on the corner of Newbury Street and Mass Ave. There is metered parking in the area but it is not always easy to come by a spot. I am always on foot when I shop here but as I am walking down the streets that have the metered parking I can always see that most of the parking spaces are occupied. So I would definitely recommend taking the train here. The best thing to do if you take a train is take the green line to Hynes Convention Center and you will pretty much be right at the store. It is a great store, I am very glad that I live nearby and I will continue to shop here. read more

I love this store. My favorite place. It is super clean and even the restrooms are clean which is a plus. Everything is well organized!!! It's spacious and the staffs are really nice and friendly. It's a great thing to have when you need help and they immediately get it for you. I asked to purchase my lilac Kate Spade handbag and the sales associate at the handbags department on 8-11-16 around 5 something pm is really nice. We even had a great conversation about another yellow Kate Spade handbag. We talked about fashion and it was great. She's very friendly. If they opened this retail place earlier I would've work here when I was younger. I'll be back to shop again so please keep the restrooms clean!!!! Very important! So I can shop for a long time. Good enough! Wow, I was blown away by the Runway section and ended up with a half dozen items at least to try on but thankfully only walked out the door with a Theory dress. There was a good selection of Northface winter jackets, Frye boots, as well as high end bags. I also liked that they had TonyMoly face masks for sale and a decent section of suitcases and gym apparel and shoes. The manager rang up my order last week and she was super friendly. read more

The TJ Max and all the other stores from the group are good stores.. You can find nice goods for great price. But I have to say something bad about the fitting rooms: they are very dirty. I have to think twice before remove my shoes off. I just don't believe that one person could not sweep the floor in those little rooms at least twice daily. I absolutely love this TJ Maxx. I really like how clean and organized they are in this store and I feel like they have really good products. I am so addicted to this place because they have some serious deals. I was drawn to the clearance sales which were so inviting and clever on their part. I bought two dresses that were the fraction of the price you get in Macy's... Let's see, $67 in Macys versus $15 in TJ Maxx for the same dress? I found this teeny tiny flaw on this dress and brought it to the store manager's attention and she said it was definitely fixable and she gave me an extra 10% off of the already clearance sale price. Now that's savings and service! I realize that TJ Maxx and Marshalls at the same company but I think this store's even better than Marshalls. There's no question I'll be back again because I'm practically addicted to this store. This is a great addition to the Back Bay residence and Newbury Street businesses. read more

Huge (3 floors) TJ Maxx. Probably the biggest I've ever been in. This location is very different from the others not only in physical size, but also selection (think more high end). It definitely caters to the Back Bay neighborhood by carrying big designers like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, etc. so the "deals" here are NOT the same as at other Marshalls. For example, I saw Gucci women's jacket for $800 and the original price was $1500. Technically a deal in that it's a little over 50% off, but definitely not something the average shopper, especially the average TJ Maxx shopper, can afford. The store itself is brand new and looks as such. It was immaculately clean (bathrooms included) and meticulously well organized. I did not have any interaction with the staff at this location so no comment on that aspect. I think this was a great location for a new TJ Maxx honestly. Centrally located and enough space to house their massive selection of products and brands. Even the wealthy elite of Boston will be found here looking for "bargains" on the regular, without doubt. read more

One month into being open, and this store is still pretty well-organized. It has a great selection of Coach, Michael Kors, and Marc Jacobs shoes! The Newbury street location definitely feels more higher end in comparison to other TJ Maxx stores. One minor complaint is that their selection of size small shirts for women is much smaller than their selections in other sizes.... the mediums and larges get entire racks to themselves, while the shirts in size small typically take up 1/4 of a rack. read more

I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of this new TJ Maxx. I am always so excited when something cool opens in a formerly empty space (instead of another lame bank). This TJ Maxx is different from others in the area in three main respects- 1.) It is three floors. On the first floor, they usually have someone greeting you when you walk in. Then there's a selection of beauty stuff, handbags, luggage and jewelry. The jewelry selection is notably larger than other TJ Maxxes but has a lot of the same types of pieces. The second floor is home to women's clothes. The third floor is men's stuff and home goods. 2.) There's a lot more high-end, designer items at this location. Maybe it's due to the Newbury location- TJ is trying to be more haute to fit in! I spied a number of Dooney & Burke bags and they also have the usual selection of Kate Spade and Michael Kors. 3.) It is really nice and clean! Compared to the DTC location, it just has such a nicer, cleaner feel! With the great location right near the Hynes T stop and the huge volume of college students and tourists in the area, I am sure this will be a successful location for TJ Maxx. read more

Scored a pretty sweet deal on some sunglasses here today. Had a problem with their staff though. Was looking through the clothing racks and this girl who works there is putting stuff back. No problem with that. But then she reaches in front of where I'm looking (clearly in my way) and says excuse me. It's fine but it was really in my face. lol I also heard someone ask her if she knows where off-shoulder tops are and she just says "they're all on the racks." It's common sense but you need some better customer service than that. Sounds like you guys need to hire someone with a better attitude read more

I am a fan of TJ Maxx/Marshalls so I was excited that there was another BIG location opening up near home. I did not make it to the grand opening but checked it out the day after. It was super clean and organized. First floor is the main registers/handbags/health and beauty products. The second floor is all women's and home stuff and men's is on the third floor. There are designated fitting rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. It was crowded and had a good selection. I ended up with a dressy tank and Starbucks K-cups. I do wish it was a little more spread out so it would be easier to navigate around. It is a great location and hopefully it stays clean and great selection! read more

If you're a supermaxxinista--i.e., you woke at dawn to line up for the 8am opening ceremony and really need a nap/food/the bathroom but must first scour the Interwebz in case someone found a great deal you missed--way to be hardcore! I made my way to MEN's on 3 where a very pleasant, apologetic fellow said, "They took away our (men's?) shoe department." If you're looking for something specific, you might want to call ahead. Got a gift from my girlfriend which was ordered from TJ Maxx. I didn't like it, so returned it to get something better. Got a gift card in return instead of the original form of payment which we wanted. Now after a few days of back and forth correspondence I was told to wait. Then after a few weeks, I called them back only to find out that it's not.possible. TJ Maxx customer service supervisor "Latonia" instead of resolving the issue, was being rude and very unhelpful. We used to to do a lot of purchasing from TJMaxx but this sour incident really made me take my business somewhere else. Please read their fine print whenever purchasing. I read that this TJs is their flagship store. It's more like a sinking ship. I LOVE TJMAXX and Homegoods but this location was a disappointment. The selection was not nearly what one would expect. I am far more impressed with my local TJMaxx. There was also no air conditioning functioning and the store was uncomfortably hot. The restroom sink was clogged and the restroom had not one drop of soap. If you love TJs and Homewood visit the one in Milford, MA; the Newbury street location is lackluster at best. read more

For men and boys, not so great shopping at this location I'm pressed to say, and although men supposedly have their own floor (3rd floor, at time of writing), the selections for men and boys are pretty limited, and way more limited than you might think of if you're thinking of a whole floor of things to look at. That's because this same 3rd floor is shared with Homewares, Kids, and Boys sections, making it actually more like 1/4 of a floor. This's a fairly new location for the T J Maxx discount chain, where once upon a time it featured a triple-story Tower Records store, and I visited here for the first time just as they were closing for the night, asking through the already locked doors if there was any kind of men's section, and if it was a larger one than at the TJ Maxx across the river in the Cambridgeside Galleria mall of Cambridge, which essentially just has a few racks for it's men's area. The woman inside smiled like she knew what I meant, and said that men had the whole third floor. I came back to shop here earlier the next day, but was pretty disappointed. For example, I was looking for shoes and boots, and was told they carry NO shoes or boots for men. When I asked why, the store rep said it was because Marshall's (about a dozen blocks away down Boylston Street, which's the next street over from Newbury St.) has them. The Marshall's store she referred to is also a part of the TJ Maxx chain of stores. Also, as I mentioned before, the men's area shares its 3rd floor with a Homewares section (mainly Halloween decorations featured there this Labor Day), a Boys section, and a Kids section, so the men really only get about a quarter of a floor. Most men I saw shopping here were with women, so you might say this is more of a women's store, where the first two-and-three-quarters floors are female-oriented, with a small holding area (daycare?) for men that's more out of the way to get to. I realize some men shop for Halloween decorations and orange and black crepe and ribbons, cardboard skeletons and plastic pumpkins to dress up their pads for parties; however, I wouldn't necessarily call that a male-oriented shopping section. I also noticed some women checking out the men's clothing, so that could be another reason for having any men's section at all, as women often enjoying dressing up in more masculine garb for a different look, fun, or whatever. I used to be a fan of T J Maxx, but I've to say the customer service at the new store on Newbury street is far from desirable. People working there are unfriendly and don't seem to know how to welcome customers. I had a worker there following me around and putting back the hangers of some of the items I was gonna try on the fitting room. It was quite a turn-off actually. Additionally, the inventory is quite limited and most if not everything, and more, can be found at the Marshalls store on Boylston street, which is just a few blocks away. Overall, this T J Maxx does not live up to the standards required for such a premium location. Do not see myself going back. read more

I have a complaint. I love TJ maxx so much, but I am tired of the rude service I constantly recurve. RUDE. CUSTOMER SERVICE TERRIBLE. I have had MULTIPLE rude employees. I am a loyal customer who just got the WORST service. I'm never shopping there again. This was the 3rd time I left furious. Let me just say, I am a LOYAL CUSTOMER, who shops here all the time. I went back with my receipt because an item I bought wasn't in the bag when I got home. After 10 minutes of waiting, they come back to me, called me a liar, said they looked up on the cameras and said it was put in the bag. WHY WOULD I LIE ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS. how would one item fall out and none of the others. I went home, dug through my room, WENT THROUGH MY TRASH, and cannot find it. Not only were they rude but they were wrong. It's less about the item, and more about the service, and the fact that they didn't believe a very nice, loyal customer. I feel maybe because I'm a women, a young women, that they didn't believe me and thought I was scamming them. I think it's ridiculous and I'm mad because this isn't the first time I was talked rudely to. If this were a man, or even an older adult, I do not feel I would have been treated this way.
