What an amazing meal! I stopped in on a friends recommendation on our way to New Orleans and was so happy I did. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and the food was delicious. I told the server that it was my first time in Lafayette and she recommended the crawfish étouffée. She even let me taste it before ordering. It was full of flavor but not too spicy. Totally approachable for a northerner like myself. I liked it so much I bought three cans of their house seasoning to take with me as gifts. First time trying this place. The restaurant was really nice and neat. The staff relatively friendly and the flow of coffee was awesome. However, 45 minutes plus wait for breakfast (usually the easiest and fastest prepared meal of the day) was not acceptable. Delivery of the food at different times not so good either. Went for a wedding in April and always like to hit T-Coons for breakfast. There were four of us and it was incredible. My son's girlfriend was with us and she's from California, so she's never seen a gator in the wild or eaten a beignet. Poor thing, bless her heart! While in Lafayette for a baseball tournament we came here for breakfast. The place is a locals favorite and has great reviews. They also offer Keto and Paleo choices which is what ordered. Most of the people in my party ordered traditional breakfast items and they liked their food, no complaints at all from neither of the 4 teenagers in the group. I had the grass fed burguer on a plate with a side of creamed brocoli....the burguer was topped with melted cheese and grilled onions. It was solo delicious! I ordered beignets for the group to try and they were 3 per order but our waitress put one extra to make sure everyone had one. Service was prompt and great. read more

We chose T-Coon's for breakfast because of the Yelp ratings and it was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel. What a gem! The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was great. I had poached eggs, homemade wheat toast, potatoes and bacon. The poached eggs were perfect. The wheat toast was nice, rustic, thick piece and the bacon tasted like no bacon I've ever had. The potatoes are like boiled red potatoes, kind of smashed and grilled with spices and onions. I loved the potatoes. My husband had the ham and cheese omelette with toast and grits. I love all of it. I'm from California, but I have family here. I will make a point of visiting T-Coon's whenever I visit Lafayette. read more

Friendly and efficient service couldn't overcome the mediocre breakfast. It is possible to over cook eggs. If your omelette has the dark burn marks from the grill the eggs are over cooked and such was the case with my ham omelette. The sautéed onions inside the omelette were large chunks and heavily cooked and coated in butter. The wheat toast was very thick and dense. Not the way I like my toast. The sausage tastes like an over cooked hamburger patty with a bit of sage. They really need to teach the staff not to over cook the food. Grits were average. Biscuit was pretty good. So glad I stumbled across this place while in Lafayette! Had breakfast there on Saturday (6/21/14), sweet potato pancake was to die for! Gina was a very friendly and attentive server :) Went back for lunch on Sunday (6/22/14). Cafeteria style doesn't thrill me, but the food more than made up for it. The red beans were seasoned well, and the sausage was spiced to perfection and soft and tender. My husband and daughter had the pork roast and gravy and said it was delicious! Really great food. We were traveling and had breakfast based on a recommendation of a friend from Lafayette. We hit pure gold by going here. We ordered a smoked sausage omelette, overeasy eggs, cheese grits and biscuits. The omelette was super cheesy and loaded with smoked sausage and grilled onions. The biscuits were light and fluffy. The overeasy eggs and grits were cooked perfectly. The food was served less than 10 minutes after ordering and the restaurant was packed. Also the waitress gave us a great tip on whee to find the best Bourdain sausage and cracklings (Billy's in Scott Louisiana). This is an old school comfort food kind of joint. They bring an entire airpot of Mello Joy coffee and leave it on your table the entire time you're dining. The breakfast meats are overwhelming, so this place might be a little intimidating to some vegetarian diners but if you work at it, you can wind up with a meatless breakfast. The rest of your table will have more than enough to make up for your eschewing their meaty meatiness. Eggs, potatoes, biscuits and all the rest are delicious. We dined here over the weekend while visiting our daughter at college and it was horrible. First of all, we are on the Paleo diet and the reason we decided to have lunch here was because of the writing on the building stating they have Paleo food. What a joke! The women behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about. I saw they had (grass-fed steak) so my husband and I both ordered it and it was basically a patty that was soaked in grease (NOT PALEO) the broccoli was mushy and carrots were out of a can. AND they put bread on our plate (CANNOT HAVE BREAD). Definitely false advertising. I Will definitely not return!!!! read more

T- Coon's used to have the best Cajun food--but not any more! My husband had the special, catfish, shrimp and crawfish coubillion, which was so fishy and bad that he sent it back. My crawfish etouffee was terrible--shriveled , tasteless crawfish that had to come from China. I couldn't eat it. Never again! read more

Was recommended to this eatery by a desk attendant at the nearby Choice Suites, which was a strong 5 star stay. We came about 8:15 AM and were told to chose any seat, restaurant was about at 70% capacity it would seem. The waitress was incredibly quick, cheerful, and was patient with my slightly disgruntled fiancé. We received our drinks less than 2 minutes after sitting, even as busy as she was. Food was delicious. I had a pancake and the beignets which are cooked more to the New Orleans style. Fiancé had a platter of everything. I would definitely recommend to any passerby for a damn good authentic breakfast that's putting money in a mom and pops pocket and not a chain stores. It's also one of the few places in town you can get rabbit for lunch. But, they don't have that every day. One of THE all-time best breakfasts PERIOD! I have eaten all over the world and make it a goal to NOT eat at chain restaurants. The T-Coon Special is a MUST have. The burger, grilled onions, cheese and over easy eggs were WONDERFUL! I am not a grits lover, but T-Coon's grits we excellent! The biscuit was light and fluffy. The Coffee (Mellow Joy) was REAL coffee --- strong and dark -- the way I like it. The service was excellent. I hope that my travels brings me back to T-Coons.
