I've always leased cars and have never had issues returning them after Derek fixes them. His prices are reasonable and he is honest. I've noticed my insurance company likes working with him too. That's a good sign. I've taken 5 diff car leases to him, my husband and father have taken at least 3-4 each. My sister, brother, aunts and friends have all gone to him too. Beware, beware, beware. I'm sure Derek does a good job for some folks, perhaps he has some favorites, like if you drive a particularly cool or expensive or newer car, if you are a pretty girl, a personal friend, or a fellow ex-pat from Vietnam. But beware if you are none of the above and new to this shop. He has a loose style that is WILDLY UNPROFESSIONAL, and that translates into inconsistent and problematic service. Try this shop, you'll see what I mean. ASK FOR ESTIMATE, be specific. I came in early, he wasn't there, so they had me fill out my own estimate sheet describing what I needed. FIRST THING on my list was that the Check Engine light came on. When I picked up car, he said there was no power to the connection his code reader plugs into so he couldn't get a reading. He said I should take car to Smog Check because "they do this every day". Huh? He doesn't? Also, when I asked for receipt of finished work - he just wanted me to pay without giving me any final invoice - he grabbed new Work Order and I watched him jockey figures, crossing stuff off, rewriting, etc, all to agree with his phone estimate. He never produced any kind of orderly invoice, the kind of record you'd get anywhere else. And here is where Derek screwed up: Aside from a REALLY shoddy way of providing clear estimates and final invoices, as he handed me invoice, he noticed he overcharged me $10, and then reached in his pocket and handed me $10. He forgot I had been there 2 years earlier...AND HE DID THE SAME THING!!! In other words, it's a ruse, a little thing he does to show people he's not been honest with, that he's honest. By the way, his prices CAN be beat. He charged me $25 to top off coolant. Simply look at the posted Labor Rates. It's false that there is any bargain here. Again, he may have some customers he likes and gives good service to, but he plays games and he is WILDLY unprofessional. For sure, this shop would NEVER, EVER get AAA approval. Someone here mentioned he was "super busy" and you need "patience". Nonsense. When I picked up my car, he kept me waiting 45 minutes. He'd start to handle me, then walk away to talk to someone else, come back, walk away, etc. At one point I mentioned I had to get to work. He walked away and started talking to some lady....There was absolutely NO legit excuse. I can dig quirks in a person, but watching Derek, it's simply disrespectful, him just doing what he wants to do and if the customer has to wait in excess, too bad. Derek has created an image: Quirky, disorganized, with a loose style, but that your "patience" is worth it because you'll get great work at a better price. Horrible experience. Save yourself some headaches and money. The paint job was horrible. They fixed it twice and caused further damage to my car. I asked for partial reimbursement so I can go somewhere else to fix the damage that they did. There's no way I want them to touch my car again. The owner first said yes he would reimburse me for the material. He told me to come by at a later time to pick up the money as he was not at the shop when I came by. I tried contacting him several times but no response. The owner did not keep his word. He's been ignoring my calls and texts. Very unethical and dishonest. Derek is an absolute scam artist lol I had him paint match a rear trunk spoiler to the color of my car and when I came to have the spoiler picked up it had drop marks, the paint had swirl marks, and there was some random white spots on it. He also said that "the tape will not hold on the spoiler so i'll put a special sealant that will keep it on" to which i asked will the sealant be removable when I take the spoiler off? He's like yeah yeah bring it to me I heat up and it come off. Well when it came time to switch spoilers, i took the car back to him and he's like no no i can't take off i scratch car and need to repaint whole trunk. LMFAO. Guy is an absolute fraud one of my buds who works in a near by building g was talking w me and said frankly idk how he is not out of business yet. Go somewhere else guys. Worst auto repair shop I've been in to. I had an hit and run situation that resulted rear bumper damage. I talked to Derek and brought my car to this shop on April, didnt get my car until late September. Derek told me it will only take one week. That one week turn into 2 weeks then one month, then two months and so forth. I tried to be patient with him as I could be. When I finally got my car, it was full of scratches all over. The paint was lighter than the original and the door at the back couldn't be close. I brought back to him to redo the paint but this time even the other part of the panel has white paint sprayed on it and it won't come off. My car is dark blue so the white paint is so ugly on it. I took it back again to this shop and I picked it up they just fixed some scratches but the white paint is still there. I finally gave up already so I just took the car home. Such a bad experience. He had the car for almost 6 months and nothing was done right. He ls a pathological lier also. Evertime I talk to him he's always saying different things. Dont bring your car here. read more

As a female without much (or any) knowledge about automobiles, I dread going to car shops. When placed into an unfamiliar situation, I'm fairly timid and naive. When my dentist told me I need a night guard, I freaked out. I lay there at night wondering which positions I could lay in that would prevent me from grinding my teeth. Little did I know, my dentist just wanted the monies. They all just want the monies. Those tricksters! But at T&T, I trust them. The place is grimy, oily, and dirty... but I like it. It feels like real serious tinkering gets done in there. The mechanics are helpful too. They'll actually explain things to you genuinely. They won't make it sound complicated and important just to get you to pay for something. They give me some sort of security, and I always drive away feeling safe. Maybe I get special treatment because my dad and I are loyal customers. But maybe if you're loyal, you'll get special treatment too! read more

I hate to write a negative review but after several attempts at resolving my issues with Derek, I'm still left without a solution. I've given TNT at least $4,000 of business over the years in addition to my entire family using him as their go-to auto mechanic. Unfortunately, I will no longer be getting my car fixed here and will not be referring any business. Let me say first that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of the shop. The phone number doesn't have a voicemail and is rarely answered. I literally sit at my desk redialing the number (usually have to call about five times) in order for him to actually answer. When he does answer, I'm either hung up on or put on "hold" while he continues what he was doing. Unbelievable. I had several dents, scratches, etc. repaired by TNT in order to prepare for my vehicle turn in. During inspection I was quoted more than $1,000 for "substandard previous repair" regarding the work done by TNT. I brought my car back and Derek took care of making those repairs at no cost; however, it was still a huge inconvenience and waste of time to have to bring the car in again for a few days to have it repaired. In order to get the substandard previous repair charge removed, I need a clear work order indicating the repairs have been fixed. I sent in the hand written work order by Derek to the car company but, because his hand writing was illegible, they were unable to confirm that this was, in fact, completed. I have called Derek SEVERAL (probably 20 times now within the past two weeks) asking him to send me a revised work order that clearly indicates the work done. I've emailed him twice. I have until the end of the month (four days) to resolve this issue with the car company and I am seriously concerned that he will not get this information to me in time. Derek has continued to make promises that he'd check his email and send this information back but he continues to blow me off and still hasn't sent the needed work order. Any money saved from going here is completely not worth the hassle and headache of dealing with Derek and the nightmare he has created. He does good work but is completely unprofessional and unreliable. I've been going to him for years but, unfortunately, I am no longer able to continue. read more

One of my friends who previously had car problems in the Reseda area recommended that I stop by here to get major service done for my BMW. I live in El Monte and Reseda a one long drive. After calling around and getting quotes from my local mechanics, I contacted the owner of T&T Auto Service. I told Derek, the owner, that I needed new brakes, shocks, tires and to fix my engine light problem. This was a major fix and I was staring at least $3500 in repairs. However, in speaking with Derek, he told me to come on down to the shop and he'll help me out. Long story short, Derek and his team fixed my car at amazing rate. Saved me at least $1k. He even offered to have one of his mechanics drive me home since the repairs were going to take at least 2 days. Great service and great work. Got referred trough a friend - had no idea they were so good. The owner gave me an estimate that was honest and very reasonable. This was a big job - two doors and front fender. My car was hit by an uninsured motorist so I had to pay out of pocket - he totally understood and and did a beautiful work on the car even took care of some scratches I had on the bumper.
