James is the most honest mechanic I have gone to over the years. No taking advantage, no up-charge. He will just tell you as it is which is rare in today's market. His business is a gift to the community. read more

James, Manny and their entire team are fantastic! They're honest, reliable and have never tried to upsell any services unless it's truly needed! Their price can't be beat either. Would never go back to a dealership! read more

It's difficult to find great places. When it comes to auto repairs, routine maintenance and even some other issues, James Kim and My Car Auto Center staff are fairly priced, top quality parts and service, and saintly honest. They work as quickly as possible, and are accurate with their availability and ability to meet stated deadlines. And if there's ever an issue that the deadline can't be met or the cost differs from stated, they communicate well and you can know with certainty that there is nothing dishonest going on. We've been taking all of our cars here (Hondas and Toyotas) for 15-20 years and do not plan on stopping. In fact, I drive through LA traffic from 20+ miles away to make sure my car gets the best service and I get piece of mind. read more

Mr Kim worked on our car and he did a wonderful job overall. He is honest and does not suggest other unnecessary work but instead he does check above and beyond the scope of what you came in for. I already knew that my old 4Runner is overdue for some TLC and he found the work I know it needed. He fixed extra things he noticed that was not working and didn't charge me extra for them. He proactively looks for alternatives to help his clients out instead of up charging for unnecessary replacements. He will salvage what he can and will suggest if it still doesn't work; then he will recheck later. He is awesome. He makes sure the vehicle is safe and his clients are satisfied with the work. read more

Service was excellent. My catalytic converter was stolen and having a 2013 Prius, I was afraid of how long I'd be without a car. The had my car ready in 2 days. The repair was even lower than the insurance had appraised ahead of time by a few dollars. Proof the pricing is incredibly fair, and honest mechanic is hard to find, come to My Car Auto Center! read more

Mr James Kim continues to operate the best mechanism shop in Southern California. He is honest and a great mechanic. He never upsells you on a service that is not needed. I recommend My Car Auto to all of my family and friends!!! read more

Excellent service. Prices are very fair. James wanted to make sure I knew exactly what was wrong with my car. He went over my bill in detail and even showed me the old parts that were replaced and what was wrong with them. James was fantastic. This is a place I highly recommend to bring you car for repairs. read more

When you want an honest mechanic and you want satisfaction guaranteed, rest assured James and his crew will do the job. Hands down the person to treat you well without having to gouge you from exorbitant work and the surprises are In Your favor. I almost don't want to not make this review because I am afraid he might get too busy to cater to all but man he deserve all praises for being so good to us. Just down the street from us and we've been going to people who he had to correct their work. Thank you James. Our 4Runner is purring happily. read more

Kind, honest, great-price, and transparent. I called ahead to see if I could get an oil change and he replied honestly that he was busy and may not have time for it asap but he would get around to it by the end of the day. I appreciated his honesty because I went expecting to wait and I packed my laptop to finish up work while I waited. When I arrived he informed me it would take a few hrs and he would be done by 3. It was finished around that time. The price for a full synthetic oil change was significantly cheaper than other areas I called in LA and in the OC. He informed me the type of oil my car needed and it's price with the breakdown of his labor cost. My total was around $65. I drove over 30 miles to get here because this is the most honest and best priced auto shop I know. Would go out of my way to come here. Thank you so much! read more

Very clearly explained the issue, fixed it without complications. Have trusted this place with multiple cars over the past 5-10 years and I will go back, because I trust him not to fix something that doesn't need fixing. Honest mechanics are super valuable. Definitely worth the drive even though there are at least 10 other places closer to where I live. read more

So, this is my go to spot for my car!!! Oil changes and any mechanical or electrical servicing on my car are what I have done here. This place does not do body work on the car, keep this in mind, guys. It is for the functioning of your car and for the internal upkeep. No cosmetic work done here. James is a really honest auto shop owner who keeps it real with what you need done and is incredibly affordable for whatever service you need. I really appreciate how nice and relaxed he is, as well. When it comes to maintaining your car, being able to rely on someone who is honest and not trying to swindle you is so important to me. When you find a guy like James and a place like My Car Auto Center like I have, you really won't go anywhere else again for your car's functioning needs. I have been coming here now for over 5 years and absolutely love it. You will too! PS. Call ahead of time to give James an idea of what you need done and when to make sure his shop is not overrun with other car projects. read more

James is honest and reasonably priced, I would definitely trust him with any of my cars. Upon completion, he showed me the work, what was done, and the old parts. His team may be small, but definitely competent. If there's anything he can't do, he'll mention it up front. read more

I've been coming to James for my 2008 Acura for over 6 years now. I don't trust any other mechanic to even look at my truck. James and his crew are professional, fair, honest and highly skilled. He's kept my truck on the road and keeps money in my pocket. I'm extremely grateful to him for the work he's done on both my cars and for the excellent customer service. I look forward to driving this vehicle with his serving for at least another 150,000 miles. read more

This guy has needs help with costumer service. He's not friendly and acts as if he's doing you a favor or as if you are bothering him or wasting his time. Even over the phone he is like this. Can be the best mechanic for miles around but your personality and costumer service is as shitty and trashy as a Hyundai. read more

It is time to let the secret out of the bag as I personally think this is one of the best if not the best mechanic in the San Fernando Valley. As I mentioned in my other review, I only go to two places to get my car looked at and this is the other place. James is a honest and hard working mechanic as he truly takes pride in his work. When I take my car in for any issues, if there is a major problem, I will get a call from him, explaining what the issue is, what he recommends, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. I appreciate this because I like to know ahead of time what is going to happen, instead of someone just doing something to my car and saying, "Well we did this, give us $400 please." But what really made me realize the true extent of his customer service was when I had to get my head lights replaced. The bulb was flickering and I took it in for a routine oil change and asked about the bulb. He said he can exchange it for the standard one, but he had mentioned he can get some dope high end Japanese bulbs for a bit higher price. I thought the quality would be worth it, and decided to go with the high end Japanese one. I knew I made the right decision when a couple of months later, I was following my wife as we had to take two cars to get to a destination, and once we got there, she got out of her car and asked, "Why the EFF are your headlights so bright." James, you are seriously the man. I tell anyone in the Valley who has car issues to come here because I feel taken care of. 6/5 if it was possible on Yelp. read more

One of the best auto mechanics I have ever been to. James was calm and informed me of the issue. He fixed it no problem and the car seems to be running way better than before already. The price was fair and also broke down what was replaced and how much the labor costed in total. Great experience! Definitely recommend, thanks! read more

James is the best ! Reasonable price and fast service !! He has all the patience and great services for everyone !!

Honest mechanic who will tell you what your car needs and not upsell you on stuff you don't need. Prices are great and the quality of the work is top notch. James will always tell it to you straight. The place looks a little run down, but don't judge the book by its cover. read more

Been going to this auto center for years! If you are looking for ethical and honest work done to your car this is the place to go! Even though, I live 30min away, the high quality of work and confidence that they will give me an honest review of my car issues make the drive worthwhile for me. It is first come first serve though, so I recommend coming early if you are on a time crunch. Overall great people and always satisfied with the work. 10/10 wouuld recommend read more

I have had a wonderful relationship with this my car auto center more than 15 years. The owner has a very straight face. He doesn't crack jokes. He doesn't give you a warm smile often. He speaks only business straight to the point. He doesn't seem to give you a big discount. But do you know why I keep going this place? I will tell you why. The owner doesn't know how to tell you a lie. And when he said he could fix something, you'd better believe he would fix it, and it lasts. This place is not cheap, but the price is reasonable and it is worthwhile. I have been a fan of this place for more than 15 years and will be for a long time. read more

This is the most knowledgeable honest mechanic out there. My family has been bringing our cars here for over 10 years. I've had my car towed from quite a distance just to make sure James was the one working on it. Always fair and upfront with prices. He presents all the different repair options and does a lot of small touch up repairs for free if it's a quick enough fix. Highly recommend. read more

My Car Auto Center - Auto Repair Near Me - Winnetka, California

Amazing service and so nice! ThNk you for helping me and making car issues less stressful! You are great!

$25 for an oil change. thats $5 more than I usually pay, but for the customer service and politeness that I usually don't receive when getting my oil change, I didn't mind. I came here because its very close to my work and I guess the owner noticed my work badge and said that I was more than welcome to drop off my car and they would give me a ride to my work and then pick me up when my car was ready. now thats customer service!! not only do they change your oil, but they check your tire pressure and really inspect everything about the car. love it. read more

Great place. James K. Kim is not the "typical" mechanic. He is polite, helpful and most important honest. He patiently explains what is the problem, what caused it and what are the options to fix it. read more

On a whim, because it was so close to the place I was working out of for the week and my it was shaking every time I braked, I took my vehicle to get my rotors machined here. But it was wasn't safe to do that so they had to replace the rotors and the break pads. James charged a fair price. They fixed my vehicle quickly and then they even fixed and patched a nail they found on my tire and rotated my tires for free. Definitely coming here when I need auto repair from now on and will recommend them to others. read more

My entire family and my cousin's entire family both trust this place and we've never been done wrong. We've been coming here for years and have received nothing but honest, fair priced, and quality work. I've already recommended this place to a handful of others and I have never heard a single complaint about the work done here. So seriously, if you're looking for an honest mechanic you'd do well to consider stopping by here. read more

I was lucky to find this mechanic when my father was out of town and my rear brakes on my Toyota Avalon needed to be replaced BADLY. The service was EXCELLENT, and the gentleman showed me all of the issues and explained everything thoroughly and gave me an estimate that was more than fair! A great price and offered to give me a ride back to work- now that's great customer service! It's great to find a mechanic you can truly trust- especially as a female, I feel as if this place gives me the best price for their great quality of work. This will be my new go-to mechanic! read more
