T & M did my kitchen 3 years ago. And I still love it. They did quality work and charged me a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone!!

Tom, the business owner, offered me $5600 to complete a 100 linear foot fence with a cheaper design than I had requested at the first site inspection for a quote. When I requested that instead of 4"x4" posts we use 4"x6" posts, he told me that since the size difference was so "out of the ordinary" it would cost an extra 50-70% on the whole job, making it a minimum of $8400 just for that small change to a more sturdy post. He also said that he would be "happy to do the job" the way I wanted the fence, and not the cheap way that he wanted to for $5600, for $10,000. Of course you will be happy to do a job that gives you 3 times the market value for the work, Tom. That didn't happen this time, and don't let him swindle you either. Tom will take you for a fool if he can. The price of the materials was around $2000, including brand new tools. Do your own cost itemization because shady business owners like Tom will do it for you and wildly inflate the numbers if he even bothers to itemize the cost of materials and labor at all. Most contractors choose not to because then they can't justify the insane markups they like to tack on to the price of the job. UPDATE: Tom responded, and so I will respond to his nonsense. I never said that Tom included the price of brand new tools in his quote. I said that I did the market research myself (pretty easy, just walk into Home Depot and tally the costs), and found that all of the materials including brand new tools amounted to around $2,000. Tom does not itemize his quotes and when I asked him about the inflated prices for the 4"x6" Pressure Treated Posts via email he basically shrugged it off and said "if you think my prices are too high, then go with a competitor". I did just that and sent him a scan of the written quote from his competitor Reuben Borg Fences that quoted me around $4500 and built the fence mostly as I asked them to. Tom responded with a snarky "thank you for enlightening me." NOTICE how nothing in Tom's response dealt with the issue of him artificially inflating his price up to $8400 from $5600 just for a change in the size of fence posts from 4"x4" to 4"x6". So glad I found these contractors. They are so knowledgeable and there work is perfection. They were so helpful with decisions and choices. Always dependable and very hard working. I had a kitchen remodel, new windows, an addition added, a beautiful staircase they designed looking through French doors they installed. Many repairs throughout the house. We just had 3 bathrooms re-modeled in our home by T&M Home services. We couldn't be happier with how they all turned out. My wife was in charge of this project. After numerous meetings with other Contractors she chose T&M. Tom worked with her ideas to help develop a design plan she was happy with. We were provided a very well put together, itemized proposal which noted all work to be performed, which routine materials were included in the proposal, such as sheet rock, painting, etc. The proposal noted which materials were our responsibility to purchase, as well as a proposed price itemized per each bathroom. The work scope changed during the job due to discussions between Tom and my wife. Mid way through the job we were provided with an updated cost report defining the scope changes my wife approved. Tom took care of ordering all the materials. The proposal included a payment schedule which was adhered to as well. One of the reasons we chose T&M was because they told us that once they started our work, they would work every day until the job was done, no pulling off to work other jobs. In fact they only had 1 day they didn't work when they planned to. Their work truck with all of their tools was stolen from the Home Depot parking lot, so they needed a day to replace all of their tools. Randy and at times another worker were there every day. At all times they were very considerate of our home and did everything they could to minimize any inconvenience their work caused. They cleaned up their work area inside and outside of our home everyday at the end of each day. We are so happy with the work they did and the way they did it, we are in the process of working with T&M to replace our fences and remodel our entire backyard. They are very easy to work with and the quality of the work they do is second to none. read more

I like the owners son nice respectable young man towards seniors. They do a good job built me a deck now a very expensive pergola in the back yard. It looks nice but any questions the old man owner takes it personal and misunderstands me and my comments. They accidently broke a sprinkler head. They removed my gate to get supplies in my back yard and now latch does not work. They dumped dirt in area I cleared and cleaned a simple mistake I had to clear and clean myself. I asked if he cashed my check yet gave it to him before they finished the work I had to go to work he took me wrong and wrote me a nasty text message to stick the check where the sun does not shine. Why?? So mean to me??? Now my $4300.00 pergola why cant I ask questions??? He can buy a metal detector to find all the nails they drop and never pickup. He said the place will look clean and great after they finish. He never spoken to me to see how Or if I like the build. im not a contractor like my husband who is in the hospital for almost 1 year. I seen him put flashing at the end of his roof build. I asked why does my pergola not have flashing? No answer. No plywood roof why? Because it costs $75.00 each board?? I have a metal roof and wait till a strong wind I bet it will fly off. Why cant he talk to a customer after work is done? Say thanks for business. Oh no he preys on women. Hes a rip off. I wish people respect one another. Guess I have to find another contractor that listens, cleans up and one who likes questions. read more

I have to start this review by saying that I looked for a fence builder for quite some time before I was fortunate enough to get on Tom's schedule. I have a very old house in a historic neighborhood and so had very specific requirements that needed to be met AND I had a specific look in mind. Tom and I exchanged several emails, including a few images of fences/gates that I liked. Tom was able to suggest a design for the rear of my house that would provide the privacy and style I was after. I had a more detailed design for the front of the home and he didn't shy away from the challenge, while still being clear about the need to modify it to meet the height restrictions. To further complicate things, our lot was not level and I was looking for a few gates - one for the front walkway which spanned about 12 feet. So, this was not an easy, run-of-the-mill fence job. T&M provided a detailed quote and timeline and then proceeded to exceed my expectations. The fence and gates are absolutely stunning. Even as they were being constructed, strangers would stop by and remark on the craftsmanship. Tom is a problem-solver and as things came up, he simply worked through it - - all the while being careful to keep the quality of the end product and overall aesthetic as top priorities. He clearly takes pride in his work and it really shows. T&M is a family run business, and by virtue of that, they are focused on the job at hand (you have their undivided attention when they are on your job from beginning to end). The last thing I'll say is that his team is a clear reflection of his work ethic - they were all skilled, courteous, and professional. We can't say enough good things about Tom and Randy! We have been satisfied all the way through the job from the estimate to the finish. We had them extend our back yard by building a retaining wall, back filling, redoing and replacing the fence. They also replaced a side fence and secured a cracked brick wall with heavy duty brackets Tom custom made. It all turned out better than we could have imagined. We reviewed this business beforehand on Yelp and on the BBB. He has great reviews for a reason! He beat out other contractors estimates and is more than fair for the work they did. I would highly recommend them for any home improvements, etc you may have (Tom's a jack of all trades)! We most definately will use them again in the future. read more

I'm shocked at the good reviews. It is because of them we chose Tom. I don't know why our experience was so very different. We could not be more disappointed in the lack of quality and numerous items left incomplete. We feel that Tom broke every promise he made, especially about performing top quality work. We paid Tom over $26,000 to install flooring throughout (1500 sq ft), paint the entire interior and do two minor support beam repairs. We have several walls that never got their second coat of paint, areas out of immediate view left completely unpainted, and door frames that were damaged and not replaced as instructed. There are paint speckles all over the house, on every window and areas on the floor where spilled pain was rubbed into the grain. Yesterday one of the closet shelving units Tom hung came crashing down; looks like he missed the support beams entirely. We had to buy an extra box of flooring material because they wasted so much of it with bad cuts, there was not any left over. We had to buy more because after the floor was installed one of the workers burned an area by knocking over a lamp and not noticing. One of the most disturbing issues was that there were underage family members working on site. Everything they did they did wrong because they got no guidance from their crew leader. Tom himself said he was unhappy with much of the work and promised to "fix everything" and did not; not even close. Tom must have said a dozen times, "I don't want just this job. I want all your jobs." And in the beginning we planned several other projects for him to do. But after the poor results of the first phase, and then, when we weren't willing to commit to a 30k deck build after he repeatedly refused to provide us a written estimate, he just vanished, leaving all those promised "touch ups" undone. Communicating with Tom is a nightmare and after the fact we learned that had he called us and explained, lots of time and money would have been saved. Seriously, do not believe what this guy tells you. Considering the very poor quality we feel we were grossly overcharged. Hire someone else. I have pics to back up everything I've said. read more

I have a bathroom remodel to be done for my tenant and called T&M on Thursday morning expecting a return call. Called again on Saturday morning and as of yet have received no return call. Obviously this guy doesn't need or want the work and can't be bothered to return a potential clients calls. I won't try him again. read more

Tom and his son have done several projects for us, including fencing, drywall and doors. Each time Tom is fast, reasonably priced, easy to work with, and gets the project finished on time and as estimated cost-wise. He always cleans up the work area after he is finished (which I really appreciate) and is totally reliable in every way and is just a nice guy. The fence he did for us last week looks great. When we purchased our new home, the multi-phase job we were facing was daunting, especially the backyard, which is a steep downhill slope that was overgrown and eroding, with a rotting deck. We feel so lucky to have had T&M Home Services to do the work. When we first contacted Tom we were in a real jam as the contractor who had been slated to install our kitchen cabinets flaked on us. It was a challenging job because of unlevel floors and ceilings of the old house. Tom not only gave us a great price, but went on to do a flawless job in a very efficient time frame. This was such a good experience, we asked him to install crown moulding in the entire house. He and his son Randy also accomplished this quickly and did beautiful, finished work at a great price. While he was here, Tom gave us some great ideas on how to deal with the landscaping nightmare of our backyard. He told us he would like to take on the challenge and gave us a reasonable bid. The job was nothing less than behemoth--a giant beast! It involved leveling the top section, demolishing the existing rotting walls and deck, hauling massive debris from all sections of the yard, building a new series of retaining walls (block and wood) that included excavating all sections and leveling the middle section, building a beautiful new redwood deck and series of stairs, building a 4-section terraced garden between the deck and top of yard with a storage bench on the deck, welding a railing on the top section of yard, installing a new lawn, front and back, installing sprinklers and irrigation to all parts of property, front and back, cleaning up front yard, and planting all sections of front and backyard, including ground cover on steepest parts of hill. This monumental landscaping project took 4 months to complete. During this entire process, there were no delays, no setbacks, just forward motion and progress. Tom used to joke about how we must be sick of seeing them everyday, but on the contrary, Tom and Randy were a real pleasure to have on the job. They inspire confidence, are consistent, reliable, courteous, and have fastidious work habits. They showed up each day at 9 A.M. and worked until 5, five days a week without fail through the entire duration of the project. Each day before they left, they cleaned everything up so there would be no dirt tracking inside. We truly have never seen anyone who could work as hard and fast as Tom's son Randy. Tom is very knowledgeable and experienced. A great problem solver and creative, he helped us tremendously with his design ideas and advice, always with budget in mind. We highly recommend T&M Home Services. They are a fine family business and take great pride in their work and our satisfaction with it. Thank you, Tom and Randy! We love our new home! read more
