Mike was able to come out immediately and get a new boiler on its way. He had his technicians out the next morning to replace our old boiler and put in a new one. I was told to call Alternative Plumbing, by a young man named Todd, from Alexis Drain Cleaning in…read moreToledo. I had called Todd's company, because I had a bit of water back-up in my floored basement, near my washer. (Note that I have not even used that washer for probably six months. Todd poked around inside the floor drain in the basement, and said he found some tree roots. He showed me a few little roots and some dark mud. (The soil outside is more orange). He told me to call Alternative Plumbing. A man came out (I believe the owners of the Company), and went to the basement. He said he would need to install a temporary sump-pump(as I had to go out-of-town the following week for a few days and, they would have to chop out some of the nice porcelain floor tiles to get a "temporary pump in." He said the cost would be $4,600.00 and then said he needed half the money immediately. I wrote him a check (he had done nothing), expecting him to come out the next day (between 12:00 and 3:00 as promised). He was supposed to come out today between 12:00 and 3:00 to install a temporary sump-pump. I was supposed to get a call before he came out by someone named Gabby. No one called. So I called their office at around 1:30. She said someone would be out. I asked when? She said soon. I asked what the owners name was and she said Gab. I had heard nothing at 3:00, so I called the office again. Gabby (the woman) said that he (Gab) was eating his lunch. (Since I was waiting for him to come, I did not have my lunch). I was not happy as they had caused me to loose half of my day - for nothing. It was very disrespectful for them to waste my valuable time. Around 3:30 two different men cam out: Garry and Don. They are now looking at the situation. (Don said he wasn't sure why he was sent, as he said he was a faucet guy). Don said he would try to help me It is now 4:09. UPDATE: Getting Better! The two gentlemen who ended up coming out at 3:30 (Garry and Bob) were actually a big help in getting a temporary sump-pump put in, and working to drain water away from my basement. Bob said they had been given a different time-range, than I had been told. This pump is only temporary, but they explained things, got the temporary pump-in and were courteous. I commend Garry and Bob. (The permanent sump-pump will go in later. I am praying that - that work is done with care, and quality in my tiled basement). I raised my rating from a 1 to a 4 this evening, because they worked hard. i will UPDATE-AGAIN after the final work is done.

I had an issue where I needed to replace my pressure relief valve on my hot water tank. My tank was pretty old and they said that would be the cheapest fix but if the tank started to go bad then I would need a new one all together which was really expensive. A friend of mine recommended I call Force Heating and Cooling, they came out and quoted me a much more affordable rate for an entire new tank all together! Not only were they extremely friendly, their work for removing the old and installing the new was quick, clean and efficient! I was so happy with their work, I have used them since for my furnace and will only continue to use them for all of my HVAC needs! Highly recommended!

DO NOT USE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PLUMBING!!!! I had a gas leak…read more I called one plumbing company. I had to leave a message. I then called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They said they could come out the next day and it will be a $99 charge for coming out. I agreed. I then got a return call from the plumbing company I left a message for. They said they do not charge to come out and they charge $120 an hour. They couldn't come out for a few days so I didn't book anything with them. I did call Benjamin Franklin back to get their hourly rate. They said they do not charge by the hour they only charge by the job. They said this is fair to their customers. So I thought okay that sounds reasonable. The next day Benjamin Franklin comes out. They go down to my basement. They come back up and tell my mom (I'm at work) that they will charge another $300 just to run the test to see where the leaks are. My mom calls me and I speak to the employee. I told him this was not told to me when I called and scheduled for their services. He said they never tell the customer this. Since I wasn't home, I was going to have to pay the $99 and I did not have any gas I just agreed to it. Here's my frustration. Why wouldn't they tell their customers this in the first place? I called that day to complain. I was told the manager was in a meeting. I never received a call back. The next day I called again. I was told the manager was in a meeting. I told the CSR that if I didn't hear back from the manager I will go on social media with my complaint. It wasn't 10 minutes later when I received a call from the manager. He was a jerk. He spoke to me like I was stupid. He basically admitted that it was a scam what they do to their customers by not telling them they are going to be charge $300 to run the test. He was telling me how dangerous it is to have a gas leak. Yes I know that. He then went on to ask me if I would have had them come out if I knew about the $300 charge. I told him NO! I would have called someone else. If they know the customer has a gas leak, why wouldn't they tell the customer it is going to be another charge for running the test???? The total job cost almost $1000. They were there about 3.5 hours. That also includes the time they left to get the part. So I basically paid over $250 an hour. RIDICULOUS!! The manager was not offering at all to make it right. He was just making excuses. So I told him I was going to blast him on social media and BBB. He then offered to give the $99 charge back. I accepted not happily. He said a letter would be coming in the mail for me to sign. I did receive the letter. The letter was an agreement stating this was going to make things right. And if I send a review to BBB or Angi's List, they would send the letter to them. Go ahead and send the letter. The fact is they are scammers. They cheat people. They are not upfront with their customers. Shame on them. I hope this will save others from getting scammed.

A different company did not accurately diagnose the issue the previous day. Rob came out around noon and quickly diagnosed the problem as a cracked pipe and repaired it. From what I understand, the repairs are priced according to the job, so I can't comment on the price compared to other companies. However, the $99 service call fee was applied toward the repair cost. Rob was very knowledgeable, professional, and did what needed to be done. We are happy not to have to worry about it anymore.

I had a terrible experience dealing with them lately as they said I needed a New furnace and AC and 3 other companies said I absolutely didn't after they did inspections. I also learned of an elderly couple they were taking advantage of by "not being able ti get a part" for their 9 year old Lennox furnace and scared them into a $13,000 new unit. They apparently did this twice to these people. :( Do not trust them!!!
