Fried chicken..& Shrimp Fried Rice

It's like If you know YOU KNOW!!!! really nothing much else to say!! In the heart of college town is the best hidden known hidden GEM top3 Chinese spots in the city. THEY HAVE FRIED CHICKEN 10/10 (chefs kiss) ask for a side of general tso sauce for the chicken..I'm telling you you'll thank me!!!

White Meat General Tso's Chicken (Best Seller)

Not sure what the previous reviews were about. The food was edible at best. Chicken was very small and stringy. Definitely better options elsewhere.

Iced red tea

Best sesame chicken in pgh hands down! I definitely will be coming back and trying more things on the menu! And the iced red tea is really good

Fried Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (10pcs)

I've seen quite a few negative reviews for this place, but I actually quite liked the food I got from here. Maybe it's because I only ordered one thing and many people consider it to be an appetizer, but nonetheless...I got their fried pork dumplings with their dumpling sauce. As I mentioned, I actually really enjoyed the,. They were very crispy and well fried when I received my order. One of the best dumpling shells/dough I have had in a while. The sauce had a nice balance of sweetness and savoriness and came in a good portion. The meat was also pretty good. Well seasoned, cooked well, and overall tasty. I really can't complain. And, the portion was also pretty solid for the price. In general, this place prices itself on providing large quantities of food for a cheap price. So if that's what you are looking for, definitely try it out. All in all, great dumplings, solid prices, and good portions. I like this spot!

Shrimp Egg Roll 1 Pc - brown on inside

Food was not good. The vegetable egg roll was ok. Fried rice was over cooked, but the vegetables in it were undercooked and had a burnt taste. Shrimp egg roll was horrible and the bok choy was ok. Very large portions, but with the quality of the food, it was not worth the price. Inside of the shrimp egg roll was brown.

This place is an Oakland classic. Super quick, big portions, and tasty guilty pleasure for a low price. In all honesty, there's nothing particularly special about the food there. Mostly Americanized Chinese food but for what they offer they do it quick, well, and cheaply so you really do get what you pay for. I've gone here multiple times and I haven't been disappointed yet. Recommend this place for quick guilty pleasures. Treat this place like Chinese fast food and you won't be disappointed.

the outside of a restaurant

We were visiting from out of town because my wife grew up just outside of Pittsburgh. We hail from Los Angeles where there is a lot of really terrific Chinese food. That means our standards and expectations may be a bit challenging in these matters. First off... I have to complain that I have never or rather I have rarely encountered wait staff as sour and unmotivated as the young lady who took our order. To be candid I considered just leaving and not placing an order. However I lingered because I knew she was not going to be cooking our food... And more so I could see there was a good variety of bagged up orders waiting for pickup. I like a place that's busy. So my wife and daughters came in and selected a variety of dishes totaling some 70 some odd dollars. I'll say right now that we gave a decent tip which in the end drew a little bit of a very brief smile from the sour young lady. I don't know if I have pictures of everything but the three stars begrudgingly given are obviously purely granted for food quantity and taste alone. Zero Stars penalize the overall score for zero quality of service. I'm writing this review a couple weeks after our visit. Dismissively I wasn't going to leave this review at all since it's less than complimentary and I'm just not spiteful in nature. So in vague recollection I know we had a chicken curry... We got some kind of spicy seafood mixed dish... This is going to sound ridiculous but I need to look up my pictures to know what we had. I remember the curry chicken was good. Ok... Got my pictures. The other dishes were a spicy fried fish and a chunky pork dish. Good sized orders with decently good flavoring. Anyway three stars it is... Decently Good food and ridiculous rotten service. The poor girl must have just had a bad day or something who was helping us?

Tofu n eggplant

Came here for dinner on a weeknight for the first time with a friend. I ordered the spicy eggplant stir fry with fried tofu. My friend ordered the chicken stir fry with egg plant. Total came out around $14 with a Yelp coupon. What's hot - Yelp coupon. When I checked in on Yelp, I received a 10% coupon (for cash only purchases). I love it when restaurants are interactive with technology, such as Yelp. - Price. Majority of their menu is less than $10 per dish. Very reasonable, especially for the portions you get. - Portions. The takeout container is one side of rice and the other side is your dish. They don't skimp on the ingredients, which is important. I spoke to the owner, who said many of their customers are students. Makes sense, given the location. It certainly explains the price point, the portions, the location, etc.... - Menu. Dudes, I don't care if a Chinese restaurant is fast food, but if the menu doesn't have Chinese writing on it, it's not a legit Chinese restaurant! Haha... And this place has Chinese on the menu, which lends authenticity and street cred. Not to mention, they have an awesome variety on their menu- different meats, Peking duck, seafood, tofu, veggies, noodle soups, etc... There's something for everyone, which is awesome. - Quality. Pretty good, especially for Chinese fast food. Better than Panda Express, people. - Service. Our order came out in minutes. This place is definitely user friendly. Almost everyone was served their food in a takeout container, which makes it easy if you don't finish your food or if you can't stay. I only saw dishes when people ordered noodle soups. Their staff are nice, helpful, and will answer questions. My friend arrived first and sat down and waited for me. Their owner asked my friend if he had already ordered. When we did go up to order, the owner explained that he wanted to check and make sure that they (ie: the restaurant) didn't make a mistake and forget something. Yes, this place is Chinese fast food and has fast service, but they care to get things right. - Location. Very convenient location in Oakland. What's not - Layout. Not good for groups. Don't come here in a group of more than 2 people. This place is small and tight. I didn't see any tables that could accommodate more than 2 people. I did see a table for 4 but that's cuz it was 2 tables pushed together. - Location. The owner told me and my friend that lunches can get packed. Again, this is a convenient location. So be prepared for crowds. - Quality. It's good, dependable and reliable, but I've had better. It's Chinese fast food, so don't expect the best quality food. Final Answer Would definitely plan on coming back.

Tons of options, not very good food, but cheap. The second star is because they are quick and cheap. Sometimes, that's what you need.

After my most recent order, I'm no longer concerned. The space itself is nicely presented and spacious, providing enough room to ensure tables don't feel too dense or on top of one another. We ordered takeout this time, and the online ordering experience was generally good (but could be improved). Our order was very nicely packaged to survive the trip home. The front of house staff were very kind and helpful, but they also seemed to be stretched a little thin. In terms of the food, everything was packed with flavor and texture. I particularly enjoy the Sichuan pickled vegetables, which tend to be a combination of pickled radish and tiny peppers with some heat coming from dried pepper flakes. The spicy wood ear mushroom is another nice appetizer. We ordered several different items, but the squid in hot and spicy pot really stood out. Our dish didn't match the photos on the ordering page, but I would argue that the result was even better. A nice balance of spice and dried hot peppers, without being overwhelming. A nice crunch from some sliced taro root. A nice texture from both squid and fish cakes. The quick fried cabbage and sautéed snow pea leaves were both excellent pairings and added some vegetable matter. All told, this continues to be an excellent destination. Highly recommended for both dine-in and take-out.

There were no other parties dining at this time. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered a variety of appetizers including crab rangoons, spring rolls, and pork and veggie egg rolls. All of the apps were delicious and came out hot and fresh. I thought the portion sizes were fair for the price. For entrees, we ordered general tsos chicken, chongqing chicken, and fish in hot & spicy pot. The size of all 3 dishes were impressive. The soup bowl was the largest I've ever seen. My plate of chonqing chicken was at least 3-4 portions. I was a little surprised by the level of spice on the chonqing chicken. It was extremely spicy and there was no indication of that when I ordered. It would've been nice for the server to confirm that I could handle that level of heat. I barely ate 1/4 in the restaurant, took some home, tried to doctor it up/cool it down, but it was borderline inedible for me. I loved the layout of the place. It was a little outdated and the bathroom wasn't the nicest, but the furniture and ambiance was relaxing. Parking is on the street.

I ate one lunch here. The exterior of the restaurant could be updated, but the interior looks stylish and clean. An employee promptly greeted me, seated me in a booth, and took my order. As of the time of this review, their website says that they offer 50% off grilled fish on Mondays, and the day was Monday, so I asked the waitress about the price and size of the fish. She did not speak much English, and she nodded and then walked away before I could finish ordering. But that is OK, because the serving size for the grilled fish was huge and enough for me. The Classic Spicy Grilled Fish was brought in a large tray to my booth. I am not sure of the type of fish, but it and its accompanying vegetables tasted delicious. White rice was on the side. Later, I ordered fried sticky rice cake with brown sugar and dipping sauce. They reminded me of donuts with a chewy inside, and I liked them very much. The total price for these two menu items was $30 plus a tip. I do recommend PF BBQ House. I think that this restaurant deserves more reviews and customers.
