1 Star -- The worst customer service experience I have had with an HVAC/plumbing company…read more I would strongly caution anyone considering Lyons AC & Heating, especially for a major installation. We purchased a new AC system from Lyons last year, and ever since the installation we have repeatedly had problems with the condensation lines backing up into our bathroom sinks. We have had technicians out approximately FIVE times trying to address the issue, and it is still happening. This week was the final straw. I called Monday and was scheduled for Wednesday. Wednesday morning, Lyons canceled because their technician had a personal issue and rescheduled me for Thursday. I confirmed that I would be home all afternoon Thursday. At 1:30 Thursday, while I was on a work call, they called me. They called again at 1:38. They also texted at 1:31 and 1:39. At 1:48--only 18 minutes after the first call--they texted saying they were CANCELING my appointment because I hadn't responded to reconfirm it. At no point when the appointment was scheduled was I told that I needed to answer a same-day call or text within minutes or they would cancel my confirmed appointment. I had already confirmed the day the canceled and rescheduled that I would be home. What made this even worse was learning that because I am not a "member," another higher-priority job was given to the technician and he would be there for the rest of the day. Meanwhile my sink is over flowing with water from the condensation lines. So after Lyons canceled my Wednesday appointment, I rearranged my schedule AGAIN for Thursday, only for them to cancel a confirmed appointment because I didn't respond to multiple calls/texts within an 18-minute window while I was working.Then when I called them back at 2:09 after my work call, they said they could not reschedule me until next Thursday!! I've also previously paid approximately $500 for them to clean out a dryer line--an amount that, in hindsight, left me questioning whether I was being upsold rather than being treated as a long-term customer who had already purchased a major system from them. My biggest issue isn't that schedules change. Things happen. It is how Lyons handles its customers when they do. After being a multi year customer, purchasing a new AC system, dealing with repeated service calls related to the condensation lines, having Lyons cancel once themselves, and then having them cancel AGAIN because I couldn't respond within 18 minutes, I have completely lost confidence in this company. Customer service should not depend on whether you pay an additional membership fee which I was very unaware that was their business model. I would not recommend Lyons AC& Heating based on my experience.

They pump up the estimate and try and convince you that maybe you shouldn't invest in the older unit. This wasn't a difficult issue, bad outdoor fan motor. Told me the unit was so old they might not be able to get a replacement (that was false). Then it was, we can get it but it costs $800 (also false) and add labor and maybe a new blade. Seemed outrageous for a pretty simple motor. Told them I had to think about it. Tech said had to charge me for the diagnostic call but if I would authorize the repair right now he would waive the fee. I said no thanks. Went inside and found I could get the motor delivered to me for less than $300 delivered. Found another company that repaired it for less than 1/2 that had been quoted to me.

We've had plenty of terrible experiences in the past with AC services - up-charging us, pressuring us into useless system upgrades, you name it. Charles came by and it was a completely different experience in comparison. This guy was a godsend. Clearly communicated the issues and the potential solutions. We brainstormed a few different solutions together, taking cost and time constraints into account, and ultimately settled on a new system along with a few other things. Charles wasn't even trying to sell us on a new system and wanted to make it work without the upgrade. He clearly had our interests at heart. But when I asked for a quote and saw it wasn't bloated and within budget, it became a no brainer to do the upgrade. This has got to be the first HVAC company I've worked with that doesn't operate like a bunch of used car salesmen. The price was shockingly reasonable, the quality of their work was phenomenal, communication was on point, and the service was top notch. They have a new customer in me for life.

Besides maintenance, he has: - serviced my large 711-style drink fridge - optimized our HVAC zone ducting - safety-checked and started a retrofitted electric-heating system that had not yet been run under my lease term - replaced a dying compressor on our 3-ton unit - recharged our coolant ...and he has done them all at a consistent and fair cost. Much lower than the previous techs I've hired. He has plenty of experience, as I have heard from the tech who recommended him: they setup full systems for big companies such as Garden Ridge together. After one service appointment awhile ago, Adam mentioned to me he was excited about starting a project with a chain restaurant's kitchen and dining setup. Turns out they loved his work so much that they wanted to contract him for all the new restaurants as they expanded across state-lines. To me, as a businessman, I was surprised to later learn that he turned such a huge opportunity down because it may draw him away from his existing customer base and ability to respond to their service needs in DFW.
