A complete joke & rip off! Do NOT trust these guys! Scam artists & conmen. Ignore all the positive reviews & people trying to say that diagnosis & repair takes time. They have no clue what they are talking about. I've been in the electronics & computer field for over 30 years. That being said, you learn to diagnose while speaking with the person who is having the problem. 80% of the time you already know what the problem is & can give a pretty specific time frame on how long it will take to get it righted. This place is more interested in your money than your repeat business. They do not really care about your problem when you are getting your "ticket" written up, because they bill by the hour no matter if it takes them 5 minutes to fix the problem or 50. So you can go in with a VERY simple problem that takes 30 seconds to fix, but they are more interested in stealing your money than providing you with a 30 second fix & building a positive business relationship with you. They prey on the ignorance of the general populace to not know much about electronics. They use that to their advantage & use technical terms to hype up a simple, benign problem & get you to upgrade your services to more than what you really need. Not to mention that every single person that comes in they offer "express service" to at a higher rate, which does not get your ticket addressed any faster, you just get charged more in the end. Further proof of their shady nature, just look at their website. The website is either a canned template that they failed to edit properly or they completely stole it from someone else's site. The parts that they edited to suit their needs are in English the rest of the site is in Latin. I would not trust a "computer repair" company that can't even figure out how to build a proper website! I've gone in a few times to see what they have to offer & I've heard the blatant lies that they have told to their unsuspecting customers. I've listened to the customers explain their problems & I knew right away what the problem was & that it was a 2 minute fix, yet they are told that it'll be a few days to fix it but that they will "get right on it". I've heard the owner be quite rude to customers who had too many questions or were not happy with the service that they received. Berating them & giving them excuse after excuse for how it's not their fault & that they were told about this when they came in. They basically will not answer any of your questions with anything definitive till they have you sign their contract & they know they've got your money locked in. If things start to get too pricey for you, they will be happy to write everything off as long as you sign over the item in question to them. Which if you do, they then turn around & sell it to some other unsuspecting person. read more

Horrible experience with this company as we sent a computer and printer we had purchased at the same time from Syracuse Computer in for service as they were not properly working. Bottom line, the "fix" didn't work and they didn't stand behind their products or their repair services. Super-slimy sales guy who made a bunch of warranty promises he didn't keep. He has to be selling used car lemons somewhere right now. We finally wrote it off as a loss. Can't believe this place is still in business. Avoid at all costs, you can do better blindly buying computer stuff online. read more

Fixed my laptop fast and at a decent price. Never had to take my laptop in for service and was worried after a bad experience sending a device out for mail-order repair. Decided to try my local computer store. Syracuse Computer has been in business for years and computers aren't the only thing they fix. Dropped off my laptop with the minimal evaluation charge of around $70. The technician logged it in and I got back my working laptop in a couple days. The minor repair was covered under the initial fee, so I was pretty happy to have a working $600 laptop, rather than a non-working one and $70. I don't know if your experience will be the same, but I would rather take a chance on my local techs than trust my hardware with a huge corporation or a mail-order repair shop. read more

I've been a customer for years. Have had great service. I dropped off a microwave at the beginning of April. I've been calling for an update since. Today is 7/29/2019. I've never heard anything back about it. Their website is down/for sale. I would normally have given them a 5 star rating. Not today. I don't know what's happened to them. read more

My experience was similar to Tricia N. There was a host of charges that were never explained nor did they tell me up front. They charged me when they were only asked to do an estimate. I spent a small fortune and in the end they never actually fixed my laptop! Incredible. Horrible service. After this I found a much better, cheaper, nicer place in the village of manlius. Brought in a MacBook Pro after being told by Apple to spend a fortune or to kiss it goodbye. They were able to save my system and all my data for a fraction - and I mean a fraction! - of what Apple wanted. Such incredible work I can't begin to explain it all but will just say to utilize this community resource - it's worth it! Would have been five stars as everything was perfect but I felt the communication could have been better. Everyone was polite but updates, even just to say when to expect an update if none are available, would have been a big help. But again, everything else but this little thing was perfect. read more

A HORRIBLE place! NEVER USE IT! They are expensive and slow, and the older lady, who said she is "just" a receptionist, is absolutely awful and rude!!! She said she doesn't know anything, and her job is only to receive phone calls. Are these job descriptions of receptionists basically, answering client's questions, etc. I tried to ask questions about the status of my computer, this woman just kept interrupting me over and over again and did not allow me to speak at all. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Syracuse Computer Store is also known as Super Service Center. This place was the biggest joke I have ever dealt with. They fix computers and other appliances. On June 10th they stated they could fix my portable LG air conditioner. The technician came to my house, told me it would be easier if he brought it in to their shop and that it should be fixed in 7 days. After 7 days I called and was told that they had ordered a part and it should be there in the next day or two. After another 5 days I called and they told me there was no one there that could assist me and they would give me a call the next day. Two more days past and I called back. They stated that there was another part wrong and they were going to have to order that. They couldn't put me in contact with the technician, tell me if the part was ordered or even explain when it would be fixed. I told them I was contacting LG and BBB. They then called back and told me they decided after two weeks they couldn't fix the unit because I wanted to contact BBB because of their slow service. There was never even a hint at an apology over the two weeks, they never once reached out to me ( I had to call them multiple times) and then decided they wouldn't fix it because finally outside sources were asking them why it was taking two weeks. Long story short. If you can deal without your computer or appliance for multiple weeks, rude customer service and a chance that they might not even fix it then this is your place. read more

this was my first experience with syracuse computer store, and it will be my last. took my computer in to the store, with suspected virus, after making a call that i'd be coming by. a service ticket was written up and the pricing information should have been my first indication this might not be a great experience... service rates are $65/hour. that's steep but not entirely unexpected. however, i was encouraged to spend an additional $20/hour (now $85/hour in case you're keeping track) for "expedited service." what's expedited service, i asked? well, if you don't do expedited we probably won't get to looking at it for about 3 days - if you pay for expedited we will look at it immediately and, based on what you've described, have it done for you in a day. great - i need my computer - let's pago up and get expedited. after 2 full days i'd heard nothing from them so i called. oh, uh, yes, your computer is done - uh, almost. can you come by and pick up this afternoon? great, i'll do that. get there and the computer is still hooked up "doing a diagnostic and downloading software" (?), can you come back in a few hours? ok, by now the service issue is really irritating. no, i can't come back - you told me it would be done - i paid "expedited" for it to be done YESTERDAY. so after $170 + tax i get my computer back and, guess what? the virus is gone but they've installed a filter on video viewing that requires me to take it back - again. we're up to 4 days without a computer now and it's still not fixed. when i brought it back in a second time the two owners (husband and wife team) were incredibly rude and dismissive and interruptive. i just wanted to talk to the tech who worked on my computer - who was quite friendly and kind - and get this fixed. "he works for me - you should talk to me" said the owner. uhh, no, i'd like to talk to him since he knows what's been going on. computer is back in my possession nearly a week later all-told, to the tune of over $230. i will not go back. bad customer service and sketchy repair work that doesn't inspire confidence. read more

I expected the repairs to be pricey and I expected it to take some time. What I did not expect was to be treated so rudely. Horrible customer service. I went back after the first experience thinking that maybe that I should give them another try and this time it was worse. The only thing they have going for them is their location. I have never experienced worse customer service in my life! I dropped my computer off in late morning and paid for "expedited service" since I lived an hour and a half away at the time. Closing time drew near and I was starting to get a little worried since I heard nothing. I called them back and the gentleman I spoke to stated that they were just hooking my computer up to the diagnostics machine to run it overnight. I explained that I paid for the expedited service and all 3 staff members treated me as if I were stupid because I wasn't familiar with "the process" that no one explained to me. In fact, the person that I spoke to stated that he saw no reason why it wouldn't be ready in the evening. I asked if they could waive the expediting fee and ship the computer back to my home at their own cost due to a communication error on their part. The manager laughed at me and told me that the only way that would happen is if they packed up my computer right now and sent it to me as is. He knew he had me where he wanted me, as I just moved to New York and my whole life was on that computer. They waived the expediting fee, but I still had to pay to have it shipped back to my house. Don't bother taking anything here. Rude owner and staff. Hung up on me when I called and asked why friends computer was full of virus's after they replaced a hard drive and "lost" all his data. Rude and unprofessional. This company doesn't even rate one star. read more

A+ Service !!!!! It's sad that I have come to expect bad service from most businesses I deal with. But, when I do deal with those rare places that have friendly, helpful and knowledgeable employees I must tell everyone. What a wonderful experience I had at Syracuse Computer Store. I highly recommend them to anyone to needs to buy a computer or have a computer serviced. I not only had my computer serviced there, I decided to buy one from them. What a good decision that was!!
