I can't thank Rescuecom and Roy enough for helping me yet another time with a computer emergency. I've been a customer for over 10 years and while for the most time, I don't need a lot of services other than regular security updates and tune-ups, there's been a few times over the years where I had an urgent crisis that I needed help with ASAP. In those situations, like when your computer is being hacked or taken over, there is no time to research options and wait on hold for whatever service you're calling to pick up and hopefully be able to help you. I did something completely idiotic this morning when I was under stress and had to download a song for a performance ASAP to send to a client, and because I let my guard down for a second, a malicious virus was planted in my laptop and the computer screen got locked with a suspicious phone number to a "help" line. Thank god I was able to call Roy ASAP so that he could resolve the situation before it was too late and the hackers managed to steal my data. Roy, thank you again! I've just read through all the reviews and am not at all surprised by the poor ratings and dissatisfied customers. I am particularly affected, however by those that mention the technicians that go on-site. I am not sure if any of them are employees, but I know a great deal of them are contractors that bid on individual assignments on various online "gig" platforms on a job-by-job basis. As one of those technicians, I can tell you much of what has been said or implied here is in fact true. I am a highly qualified, well-skilled technician that has worked for Apple, Microsoft, HP and many other Fortune 200 companies in a technician role and I have more than 30 years' experience in running a consumer-facing business, so suffice it to say I know how to keep customers happy. I bid on a job some 100 miles away from my office for a "dead PC" that I expected to be a power supply issue. I took--from my own stock--a new power supply with me that David was going to mark up some 10x over the cost but as sometimes happens this PSU was dead out of the box. Because this customer (of David's not mine) was running a business out of his home and needed the computer to be online ASAP, I returned the following day, making the 100 mile drive and because Covid left lots of shelves bare, I spend more than 2 hours locating a new power supply that i purchased out of pocket for this customer and I installed it without issue. So what now I had two separate service calls plus reimbursement for the purchased power supply that I submitted for payment. David flat out refused to pay for the second visit at all, leaving me to absorb the gas expense and travel time of 4 hours round trip. Claiming "flat fee" was the agreed upon rate (it was not) HE PAID ME A TOTAL OF $138--100 FOR THE FLAT FEE, 38 FOR TRAVEL. AT THE VERY LEAST IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOUBLE THAT, BUT FINE, LESSON LEARNED. But that was in April and I still have not been paid the 98.50 i paid out of my own pocket for the support of his customer. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

Pretty sure a lot of us don't know how to service the devices we use every day, so I didn't feel that bad when I couldn't fix my own computer. What I did feel bad about was the fact that a number of tech places were on-site service only, plus they were planning to charge me wazoo money and couldn't guarantee that my issue would be fixed. So, when Rescuecom said they could repair my laptop remotely & promised they could fix it, I figured I would take the chance. After taking my PC to rescuecom (mistake) who claimed my CPU fried my motherboard, power supply and me knowing a thing or two since I built pc's since 1985 I immediately had them pack up my machine, didn't even let them put it back together. Didn't trust them. Took it to Manny at MM Tech Repair who fixed a damaged PCI Express slot no problem. Yeah. I thought I knew my stuff but Manny is like a PC Guru. And resucom charged me $200 to tell me my whole machine was broke. Crooks trying to sell even more parts. Saying my brand new motherboard was fried (it wasn't) my CPU shorted (again no it didn't) and it took them 6 hours to figure this out. I am writing an article about how PC repair shops scam. AAA Tech found this issue immediately and fixed it free. Have Manny fix another mobo with the pci express slot ripped off. He just cut the wires out. And voila! Works amazing. Thanks Manny at MM Tech Repair. These 5 star reviews are all less than 3 months old on their Google page at Rescuecon.That is called astroturfing and an expert in SEO is looking into reporting them to Google. Oh Yeah they charged me $200 for a misdiagnosis at Rescuecon And reluctantly refunded it. My pc is working fine now. These guys are snake oil salesmen. Nightmare. Had to buy a new computer after they screwed mine up to unable to be used. I felt like a fool and just kept my mouth shut and waited for the contract to end. But now they will not stop. I changed my card, disputed it, have an email from "David" apologizing for charging it for too long, yet they WILL NOT STOP. And now I am on the phone, four months after contract end, trying to find out what PREOF this scam company provided that made the bank sent my dispute. I am sick to my stomach. I have medical bills piling up and am off work sick now having to deal with their scammy mess during a global crisis. STAY AWAY I screwed up by trusting them, accepted that it would cost me a year of fees for my stupidity, but this is ridiculous. It has cost me the cost of a new computer, now going on 16 months of charges, time and energy fighting, and why will they not JUST GO AWAY? read more

This company's business practices are borderline criminal and very suspect. I guess the fact that they required an upfront payment prior to scheduling an appointment should have been a clue, but I was somewhat desperate to get my networking issues solved once and for all and was willing to pay $198/hr to do so. The second clue that it was a shady business was the confirmation email I received after they processed the first hour's payment. It was a whole slew of conditions including cancellation language that required 48 hour notice or they would charge a minimum of two hours. I was already regretting my decision to choose this company. Since it was cheaper at this point to let the call go forward since the appointment was set for the next day. (It was too late to cancel.) The tech shows up and the first thing he wants me to do is to sign a contract! It is two pages long plus additional language pointing to more language on a web site and had a section agreeing to a one year maintenance contract. WHAT? After objecting, they were willing to waive this, but to ask me to sign a contract AFTER collecting funds is not a normal business practice. So I responded that I wanted to make sure that we kept the entire call to one hour or less as I saw that they charge a full hour even if the call goes one minute over. He indicated that was unlikely as he needed to completely understand and document all aspects of my network. Obviously was instructed to extend the call. I refused to sign and the call was not completed. They did not respond to my requests to credit back my account so I called the credit card company and filed a dispute which I have no doubt will be upheld. If I could give a big fat zero score, I would. These guys operate out of Syracuse New York and are scammers and liars. They sent a technician to my home in Scottsdale, Arizona. They told me upon making the appointment that I had to give them my credit card and they would charge me in advance for a "one" hour service charge of $198.00. Although I was uncomfortable paying in advance, I did so as I needed immediate tech support. The guy they sent was great and he literally worked on my computer for ~40 minutes. HOWEVER, as soon as he got here, some other remote tech from same company, called the onsite tech they sent to my house, and proceeded to put the onsite tech through the wringer. He was telling him to check this/check that - basically telling the onsite guy everything to do that the guy had already done. In hindsight, it seems that it was a total scam to try and keep the guy onsite at my house for a longer period of time. Well, sure enough today I see Rescuecom charged me for another full hour...so for basically an hour of work (should have been 40 minutes if the remote tech, who by the way I never asked for, would have left the one they sent here alone), they charged me "two hours" - so folks for one hour I got scammed for $396.00. Then they accused me of forcing the onsite technician that came to my house to change the paperwork regarding the length of time he was at the house - I did no such thing. I then called the technician who was here as I had his phone number from when he called to let me know he arrived at my gate. The onsite tech told me it was the first/last time he worked for those guys, and also said he never told them I forced him to change paperwork. Now today, this company just called the tech and accused him of trying to get me to pay him under the table, which he NEVER did. I will do everything possible to avoid any other consumer to be scammed by these guys. Next stop is a fraud claim, a call to NYPD Consumer Fraud, Scottsdale AZ Fraud Department. There is no way I will stand for being victimized by these scammers, nor stand for the possibility of others being scammed. Update May 1, 2020: After putting me through all of the above, and my writing of this Yelp review, I received a call and email from Rescuecom reimbursing me for the entire amount of $396.00. Fortunately it did not come to me having to seek legal support to address what occurred. Again, I am not at all pleased with their blatant and false accusation of me trying to force their onsite technician to change paperwork. Again, not pleased that they then called the onsite technician and accused him of trying to get me to pay him under the table. Fact is all of it was a lie, an I absolutely was not going to stand for it. Also, not at all pleased that a remote technician called the onsite technician which was needed, and then this company attempt to charge me for 'two' technicians when in fact the onsite guy was fine on his own. This company helped me a lot with my computer. I was getting blue screen and had some very important pictures of my son from when he was younger in my hard drive. I knew I should of put them on my usb before anything happened, I just kept on saying later. I thought I lost all my pictures but but they made it work and all my files were recovered. People back up your files. Very friendly staff and they are very professional. I highly recommend Rescuecom. They were not on hand to help me as they said they would and BTW, you MUST leave a review for them with the initial service while the technician is on the phone with you. I took my computer to them to fix a crashed hard drive. They couldn't fix it, so they had to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system, and recover data from my old hard drive. They originally told me it would take four hours, but ended up taking several days. I didn't really believe them when they said four hours, but I have to wonder why they would over-promise like that. When I got my computer back it had some Rescuecom virus protection software installed, and a couple of my key applications wouldn't work. They messed around with it remotely a bit, but couldn't figure out how to get my applications to run. I have a business to run, I dont have time for them to figure it out, so I uninstalled their protection and reinstalled Norton 360 like I had before, and then I got everything to work. But now they are charging me $55 per month for their software "protection" that I can't use. Their technician had me sign a form that he said I could "cancel at any time", but the owner tells me that the technician would never say such a thing. read more

I can rate this establishment only based on their approach towards pricing. My home office business computer had a system error that required re-installation of the Windows 7 OS. I brought the PC to them looking for same day service (I had called prior to my arrival explaining exactly what service I needed.) Upon arrival, the man at the front desk (who was professional and courteous throughout) tried to sell me a long term support contract rather than give me pricing for same day emergency service. When I explained that I specifically and only needed what I had already called about - same day or one day emergency service - he stated that he had to call the owner for pricing. The owner quoted $298. Here's the thing... I had already run diagnostics myself, then worked with Dell phone support - who had confirmed that it was an OS issue - not a hardware problem. Dell had already put the restore disks into Fedex - which I would receive next day; I needed same day service. I politely declined to pay $298 but also told the man at the desk that in my opinion the pricing was a blatant rip-off and hose job targeted at taking advantage of a business client who needed fast turn-around for a fairly simple problem. I left and drove across town to a different repair vendor - who quoted me $169 for same day service. They called me back 1 hour later to explain that they had found a way to force the PC to boot directly into Windows instead of doing a full restore (which would have required me to reinstall all of my apps.) I'll be picking up my machine by 4 PM today left it with them at around noon.) In a bizarre turn of events the owner of Rescue.com called me a short while later. I can't speculate on why he called - I immediately told him that I had already finished my transaction with his firm and had nothing more to discuss. It's irrelevant to me whether he want to suggest alternate pricing or any other solution. I want service from firms who are direct and straightforward up front and have empowered their front line reps to quote pricing without "calling the owner." This can't possibly be the first time anyone has come to them for same day service on an OS related Windows issue. read more

Can you give negative stars? I brought new computer components I could not completely put together in to see if they could finish. I was sold the one year plan and it made sense given what they promised ....including that my computer would be assembled THAT day or the next. The next day I hadn't heard so I called. I was told the tech would call me to let me know the status. Three hours later I had not been called so I called again. The tech came on and said it would be done THE FOLLOWING week! I said that was unacceptable as I was promised something else and when I pushed to ask how they would rectify the situation because I was greatly inconvenienced he said the owner Mr. Millman told him to refund my set up membership and first month fee and return the parts. When I went in to get the parts, the tech said he could not give me anything in writing that I would be refunded. I said yes you can and you will. He goes back behind the door and says the owner was processing my credit "right this second" and wrote on the receipt I would get my money back. I had to tell him to clarify I would get ALL my money back. So I bring my stuff to geek squad which I should have done in the first place. And low and behold the brand new hard drive that has never been on doesn't work. Can I say that Rescuecom sabotaged this brand new hard drive? No. Do I think they did? Yes. I cannot say enough....stay away from this place. read more

For 30 minutes on Saturday evening in a Chinese restaurant a Rescuecom manager worked loudly on his phone taking information and assigning jobs to techs. He talked to a tech who " never worked for Rescuecom before" and had to ask him a question first before he could assign a job. The question was - "so you've taken apart a laptop before?" He then spent 10 minutes going through instructions on how to bill and specific instructions about not giving any feedback to the customer over the phone before arrival because "we don't want them to try to fix it themselves". Very unprofessional behavior and we could not believe the lack of vetting of the repair personnel. And if the managers have such little regard for confidentiality, I doubt the people who work for them have any higher standards. Multiple tables were alll able to hear every word. I will certainly never use this service myself and I'm sure the other patrons of the restaurant feel the same way. read more

My son's laptop was not a top of the line laptop, but it wasn't cheap, either. The screes began freezing up and turning different colors. We took it there, and were promptly charged approx. $240, and were told that there may be more charges depending on what was found. We thought that that was a bit unusual, but we went ahead. After a few calls, we were told the laptop was fixed. We brought it home, and no sooner does he turn it on, it does the same thing again. We took it back, asked them to please fix it. We were out of town for a week, so they had it for two weeks this time. To be fair, the guy trying to fix it called my son to see what he thought the problem was. He tried to tell my son that he was probably using it wrong, letting it get too hot. Anyhow, we picked it up, and still it wasn't right. My wife called and told them she wanted the money back, and the guy that answers the phone straight up lied in a subsequent phone discussion w/ the owner. We all went down to pick up the laptop and the owner wanted to see the machine malfunction, which it immediately did. He tried to tell us that the machine worked fine. "See? It works," he says. UGH. So after screwing around and making us wait for 45 minutes, they finally credited our credit card and after almost a month, we still have a broken laptop. The lesson is, don't pay upfront for a repair service. And do some research (not on google) that yields some decent business choices. read more
