It's tucked into Buffalo Bayou, pretty close to the Cistern. Street parking is available, with some extra off of Sabine Street, just a short walk from here. Would definitely recommend stopping by, my spirits are always high at this park!

This is one of the best place to bike in the inner loop with the separated biking and pedestrian trails. Connects to the heights and all major neighborhoods. In a city that is known for tearing down and paving over so much of our history, it is wonderful that this was saved and has been made into a place that visitors can visit and experience. I went with some friends from Kingwood on a Photo Walk of the area, we were lucky that the light and sound experience was still going on, each column in the cistern has LED lighting that changes to the tune of some aethereal music playing silently, the acoustics of the cistern make it sound so beautiful and mesmerizing. When you purchase your ticket online you choose one of the available times, upon entry they give you 30 minutes, the time passed quickly. Be ready if you are taking pictures or better yet, a video. Smart phones work great but you might consider turning off auto focus and just focusing manually if you know how because when it gets dark for a moment and then the lights come on most cameras auto focus has to search for focus so it goes in and out of focus. When you leave, there is a skateboard park up above and worth some time for taking pictures of the acrobatic skating going on.

Our kids had a lot of fun and I especially appreciated the fenced in park to keep the kids safe. It's close to many shops like Cloud 9 creamery and Common Bond. I definitely plan to come back again.

That said, I did notice the cleanliness was a bit of an issue; the garden could definitely use some extra care to keep it pristine. Another small drawback was the restroom situation. There are only two available, and both were quite busy, so I ended up waiting a while and eventually decided it wasn't worth it. Still, the park draws a lovely crowd with people come to stroll, reflect, and soak in the beauty. If I'm in Houston again at a better time, I'll absolutely return to see the garden in full bloom. It has so much potential, and with a little more attention to detail, it could be a true hidden gem.

This is especially true when their dogs take a doodle but the owner doesn't pick it up. Really nasty in my opinion. Nothing towards the city but cmon guys, pick up the poop.

The parking lot is small and right off bay area near space center Blvd. So far when I have gone it hasn't been packed so can't say there is any parking issues at the moment. I have only gone in the late morning and early afternoon. They have and still are planting trees along the path. Once they have grown tall enough it will definitely provide some great shade. Right now there is no shade so straight sun and heat along the path. If you plan it right like when we get fallish weather or a cloudy day then it isn't bad for a loop. It is a paved path so if you bring your kiddo In a stroller or a jogging stroller then you won't have any issues. Plenty of room for a stroller and a runner to go by. It does connect to phase 4 so if you are looking for a longer path then continue on. According to my Garmin watch the phase 5 loop is 1.27 miles.

I'm not sure what it's called, but I always see people playing!), a playground, a fishing pier, a volleyball court and a baseball field and plenty of trash cans with dog pooper-scooper stations so you have no excuse to not pick up after your pet! They do allow dogs off the leash here but please be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your pet! It's usually not real busy mostly because not too many people know it's here except for the people in the neighborhood. Wait. I may have just messed that up, huh? lol It's within walking distance of my work so I like to come here at lunch and walk around the trail. It's very well maintained and partly cement and partly small rock. It can get muddy after a rain of course, but that's everywhere. And they did build a wood bridge over a spot that was always flooding, which is nice. If you're in the area and want a nice, well-maintained park to have a picnic, or just walk around and take in the sights (the trail runs along part of Taylor Lake which is part of Galveston Bay), this a great place for that!

You can say that's pretty much a hike by then. This park has both walking and biking trails; I like to do nature walks and loop back into the concrete paths. The very end leads you to a residential area and furthermore walking, but I stop at the loop. Be careful if you decide to walk the trails in the evenings since careless dog owners love to have their dogs roam without the leash despite the leash laws. I've had three big dogs come up to me and their owners were no where to be found. I love the local artwork in the park; it's so vibrant and nice to look at. There are two dog parks for small and large dogs, but since they are considered a cesspool (that's how my veterinarian described it), I don't take my dog here. The dog parks are huge and apparently maintained on Mondays so they are closed. Unlike other parks I've been to, this one has restrooms near the basketball courts. There is a large parking lot and a field for baseball too. The paths for the bike trails are dirt, some rocky, but trekking poles aren't needed since majority of the path is flat. However, if you go deep into the woods where the trails continue on, there are some parts that are steep in slope. This is a pretty well rounded park that has everything for everyone. I've even seen people fishing in the bayous. Lynn Gripon is very near Challenge Seven park, but as you know Challenger 7 trails are under construction so this is the best best thing! Come check it out!

So two weeks ago me and my dog were both attacked and both got bit up pretty badly. The guy had a…read moreDoberman and I think the Husky was also his. The Husky attacked my dog and would not let go of him, the large strong man tried to pull him off and in the mist of that I got my hand bit. The guys other dog came up behind me and bit my hamstring which I had to get stitches on and also stitches in my hand. My dog also had to go to the doctor's office as well, with a wound to his ear. The guy left the park and never came back to check on us and exchange information. I do appreciate the people there checking on me but no on stopped the guy to get his information. Its a nice dog park and the people were nice but after going for a few weeks you can tell the dogs kind of clique up and that can be scary when they are hovering over your dog and trying to pick a fight. If you go I would say stay away from the morning group 6:30-9:00am.
