Thanks to Liz for letting me know about this park! I went yesterday for a quick run after work. I was dreading going all the way to Memorial from Pasadena (having to deal with traffic) and thankfully this park just gave me an alternative! Crenshaw park is actually a very pretty, well maintained park. There is a lake, which is divided by a bridge. There is a jogging trail, which loops around the lake. The jogging trail is actually asphalt (which I don't actually like to run in, but beggars can't be choosers!). There is a play ground, a Gazebo and swings/benches around the lake. The park is small and the loop is actually only about .74 miles, but the scenery is awesome! The park is not super busy but it is definitely used. There were people sitting on benches, running, walking or simply watching the ducks/lake. I couldn't help myself and ended up taking a bunch of pictures!! I am officially a fan of this park. =0)

Awesome wildlife and nice place to go for walk or bike ride. It could use some cleaning up as the wildlife birds are quite messy and they have such an assortment of ducks and geese.

I never run the figure eight. I'm afraid of this section here

Crenshaw Park is great for working out. They have a small area specifically dedicated for bench workouts. Plus, a trainer sets up in the evening by that same area. He has the big tire, ropes, and a few other stations. I have never actually walked over to see what the deal is but sometimes they are going hard. The playground is nearby for keeping an eye on the little ones. You could be daring and let them run rampant and take to the track for some exercise. I'm usually that mother who lets them be, not here. That's mostly because they don't listen, and I don't trust them. If I was sure they would stay on the playground, yes, but my little hurricanes have too many interest. Crenshaw has too much to offer to trust they would just take to fighting on the playground. There are rules, no bikes on the trail, but not enforced and you will find all kinds of wheels. I don't mind it as long as you are moving. Sadly you will find groups having a conversation on the trail. That really grinds my gears. I love the jogging trail. I come here most often for my cardio. I will be here at all hours of the day. I've been early morning, mid morning, afternoon, late afternoon, evenings and super late at night. I feel safe, there is wierdos, still I feel safe. Maybe it's my jujitsu training, probably not. More than likely it's the fire station nearby. Most of the trial it's well lit, there is a section that gets dark, but it's also the closest section to the fire department. The lights just flicker off and on. The trail always has plenty of people on it even when I am here after closing. By closing, I assume they want everyone out, but like I said, I've been late. They do however close the gate to the parking near the playground. I've heard of cars being stuck there till the next day. How true that is, I couldn't say. They used to have a sign that told you if you start here 4 laps equal 3 miles. It was very specific to using the outer loop because it's only .75 of a mile. The sign was vandalized then broke. I did read online if you do the figure eight it's a mile. I refuse to do the figure eight; it's a little unnerving for me. You can refer to my picture, I have croc nightmares. I just do the math myself for the outer loop. Being a genius Latina it's not a problem for me. Most runners have their head sets in. I love hearing the conversations of people I share the track with, traffic afar, kids at play, dogs barking, ducks quacking, splashes in the water, hitting of balls and cheering from the baseball field. The signs say, don't feed the rats. You can absolutely fish here. Crenshaw Park has a fishing pier for that purpose. You can find a fishing spot from just about anywhere, and there is fish to catch. The City of Pasadena fully stocks the small lake every year. They also put together a fly a kite and children's fishing tournament soon after. It's a lot of fun. I encourage you to look out for it.

I've lived near this park since it was made. I enjoy walking here, and my kids love to visit "the duck park". If you're walking/running the path a figure 8, using the bridge, equals a mile. There's a nice park for kids to play, and an exercise area for the fit/active. Ducks are plentiful, there are a few geese, and if you're lucky you'll see some of the turtles. All the animals love to be fed, and will surround you in mass if they think you have food. My only problems with the park is that people don't always throw their trash away (their fault I know), and no one mans the park to care for it and clean up. This has been very evident by the massive amounts of trash everywhere (even in the water), and the few times I've had to use the public restrooms. Also, the actual walking/running path needs some serious work done.

I wonder what type of duck this is?

Super calming area. So many cute ducklings and dogs around. Does anyone happen to know the distance of the running trail?

Very nice, clean park to relax, whether you want to exercise to let off some steam, or just to sit and enjoy the scenery.

What a perfect park to go walking, running, and bird watching, or should I say bird stalking.

I'm not going to lie, as I was reading the reviews from Yelp and Google about Stevenson, I thought…read moreto myself, how can anyone call this park beautiful if it's stuck in the heart of Friendswood, TX? It wasn't until I got out of my vehicle and stepped on the red trail, walking, seeing so many dedication gardens in every area of the park. Who knew that Friendswood had its own flag to be flown so high next to the Texas and US flags? That is what made me feel that this park was a beauty, and I even thought of my surname park, Wilshire Park in Portland, OR. This park and that park can be compared to each other since both are surrounded by trees shading the path around the perimeter of the green space. Both have spaces for children to play, but Stevenson has added amenities, including the on-site pool, Texas native wildflower garden, splash pad, basketball, and tennis courts. The trail is 1/2 mile long, winding, and semi-narrow; when I am trying to tap into mindfulness, I tend to walk slower than a regular-paced person, and as I was walking, other park-goers were cutting me off to overwalk me and not giving me space when passing me up. I would have liked the path to be a tad wider in width to prevent this from happening. Nonetheless, it's still overall a solid neighborhood park and one would say a hidden gem. I wasn't expecting this place to be what it was and had a prenotion bias that it would have been like Frankie Carter Randolph and 1776 Park (two parks that I don't care for); but I am happy that it wasn't. Huge spacious parking lot with restrooms onsite. I think the artwork is from the same artist who painted bayou birds, natives, and animals at the Lynn Gripon (park in League City, TX) and Exploration Green (park in Clear Lake, Houston, TX), which is pretty cool if they are local to the area. I will have to add to this my list of parks to explore in the evenings and weekends!

For a park that is meant for a subdivision, this is pretty nice! You have plenty of parking (and…read moremind you if you live in the subdivision, you wouldn't need to park and drive anyway in most cases). There are plenty of partitions and a pavilion area for events as well as my favorite-a doggie park! Not because I have a dog, but when people bring their furry loved ones to the park they have their own area to run and play-giving walkers and joggers like me some space to exercise. Additionally, this park has a small and big dog park. And not to make anyone confused about the definition of small and big, they put the weight requirement on the signage to each park. You know that this a dog friendly park based on all the doggie doo receptacles all around the park too. Did not spot not a ONE pile of doggie doo on my walk. Thank you dog parents for being kind and not leaving doggie doo behind! For human parents, you can come to this park and not have to worry about bad weather delaying your plans to take your child to the park since the playground area is covered. Many parents even bring chairs and sit around the playground area to watch their children play and protected from some of the elements. If you look closer by the events doorway there is a book depot for people to leave books and take books. I love seeing these in communities because it not only supports the importance of reading but creates a sense of community. For a quick walk before running some errands or to let your kids play (human and furry) this is a nice park to visit anytime of the year.

Upon entering we were greeted, paid ($25 for play, $5 arcade, slice of pizza, socks and a drink), stamped, and let in. The play space was jammed pack! Full of children and parents. All along the walls are large black chairs for parents to sit and watch their kids. I'm not gonna lie. This place is a lot and I wouldn't recommend this place to parents/ guardians younger than 4-5 y/o. It's hard for adults to see their kids unless they are in the "playground" with them. Which can be tight and awkward. All in all it's okay.

They also put a stamp on everyone in your party's hand to make sure no one is leaving with anyone not in their immediate party. It was fun when my youngest was under a year old because they have a whole baby section that is blocked off from the rest of the play areas. It's gated and they have an attendant there making sure it's only babies and not older kids. It's really nice because this way the babies don't get hurt by older kids. The rest of the play space is an absolute free-for-all. There are slides, a ball pit, climbing areas, padded things to play on, pretend play areas and even an arcade. My oldest is over coming here, it's not really for teenagers, and my preteen is almost done here too. My 6-year-old still loves coming here, though. It's not too pricey either which is great. It does get crazy busy on the weekends. I have found that the best time to come is first thing in the morning when they first open.
