One star reflects only the path. The path around the whole park used to be gravel which was great it was softer then concrete and sounded nice. Nobody asked for them to come put concrete walkway in at all it's hard on the feet and there is concrete everywhere I can go walk in my neighborhood on concrete not to mention when a kid falls or anyone It will hurt a lot more. Having gravel was the best it really felt like a park if you know what I mean now it's wack! Come looks for yourself but your feet might hurt after

This is a bigger-than-it-looks park in Friendswood. When driving past, it looks small. Driving in, you will see that it's a rectangular shaped park, more narrow than it is wide. The big parking lot is shared with some shops that face the park. There is another lot behind the pool that is accessible by going through a residential street. Near the front of the park, closer to the street (FM518) sits a gazebo. It has lights that turn on at night. There are tennis courts, volleyball courts (3) with real sand, a pool, 2 pavilions (one big, one small), a splash-pad and two playground areas with a walking/running trail throughout. The large rotary pavilion is located near the parking lot that is shared with adjacent shops. You do have to rent out these pavilions. They have a restroom building right next to this large pavilion. The two playgrounds here are categorized by age. There is a playground area for smaller children (toddlers) that contains artificial grass turf. There is a small play structure here along with many slides. It also has a couple of spinner seats, a small spin-about and a horse character spring rider. Off to the side, in it's own area, is an enclosed sandbox for littles to play in. There is a large structure separating both play areas. It looks like playground equipment but it's really just a long, tall structure with stairs on both ends. At the bottom, there are a couple of megaphone-like structures. The bigger kids play area has wide walkways to walk through and lots of climbing structures. My son loved it! There are many little sections with toys embedded within like a steering wheel, musical cymbals, rolling tic-tac-toe, rolling math and other noise-makers. One small portion has a canopy over it - great for some shade from the heat. The flooring here is different. It's squares of hard but springy foam. It seems to pop up at certain points so you have to be careful when walking or you risk tripping. There are benches placed throughout the park - both picnic style metal benches with tables attached and wooden benches for sitting. The tennis courts are located behind the playground areas. There are three sand volleyball courts next to the tennis courts. Even further back is the pool. We didn't venture that far out, so I'm not sure of the rules or access into the pool area. The other parking lot is located right behind the pools. The splash pad is located in the back portion of the park near the pool. You can't even see it from the main parking lot. It's a good size splash pad with a bucket feature that dumps water on unsuspecting victims. There are sections where the water comes up from the ground and they have other features where the water shoots out from tall spouts. Kids seem to enjoy it here. The smaller pavilion is located not too far from the splash-pad. You can actually sit here and keep an eye on your children in the splash pad. This is also available to be rented out for parties. A neat thing about the pavilion is that there are ceiling fans here. During the couple of hours we were here, I noticed a lot of people making use of all that the park has to offer. The tennis courts, volleyball courts and pool looked full at all times. There were lots of people on the walking trail and we saw leashed pets come along for walks with their owners. There are lots of squirrels here also. They must be used to all the humans because they will let you get fairly close before taking off. Another neat thing about this park is that it is home to a Little Free Library! It's located along the walking path near the playgrounds. What a nice surprise to see it here. Next time we come, we'll be sure to bring books to leave for others. I think it's great that kids can come to the park to play, then pick a book and leave a book in it's place.

Great water fun for kids of all ages. Free splash park & nominal fee ($4.00) for non residents to enjoy the pool. Professional & courteous life guards. But don't bring your large floaty or raft...not allowed :(

The biggest highlight is the herb garden; I just love the scent that the garden gives off..its so refreshing. The play area for adults are just two swings near the children's playground. Sitting areas are all throughout the forest which is nice for relaxation. The only thing I had a problem with is the racial profiling I received from an Asian family; it was beyond disrespectful and I wasn't doing anything wrong at all. I was just walking to the swings and these people suspected that I was going to steal their children. Now, the Caucasians here didn't give me a problem; they were actually pretty friendly.

There are many areas of the path that are slightly uneven. The asphalt is starting to show wear and tear. There are not obvious pot holes along the running area but it is slightly uneven. Pay attention to where you are stepping so you don't end up with a sprained ankle. There are some parts of the path where you will be walking on the road. If you are not walking or running, there is a playground area and a multi-purpose field. There are also pavilions that can be used. I would assume they can be reserved but I do not know that for a fact. It is dog friendly but is not considered a dog park. All pets should be kept on leashes. Bottom line: A decent urban park located in Friendswood. Decent running trails but are starting to show their age. Could use an upgrade. Upgrades could result in more stars. Until then, I'll give them three stars.

I've seen rabbits, deers, birds and other small creatures on this trail as I've walked it. I'm still trying to figure out what is the earliest time this park opens--I've got here at 5 am and people are already walking on the park. I guess I need to get here at 4:30 am just to walk. It great to bike ride, walk, power walk, jogging, or running trails. Dogs love it--and I'm not sure if cat lovers walk their cats...that just seems pretty strange. Taking in nature as you walk is a really beautiful thing. It makes me feel pretty zen. Yeah!! I don't know how many miles the entire walk is but I think it's six. People bike here and there is also two playgrounds for the kiddos. Or if you want to have a picnic there are covered tables. They also have benches to watch the kids or have a romantical conversation in the moonlight......before ten because that's when the park closes. Opens again at five. You probably don't want to go too late if you are a female by yourself as it is heavily wooded and after dark you got to watch out for serial killers and snakes in the grass. Yes, I have seen a snake before. Yes, I did run as if my feet were on fire. There are also bunnies that come out of the woods. Cute, feral bunnies. Bring a friend or two and get your run, walk, or jog on. Come twice a day if you are about that life.

Only been to phase 5 and hopefully soon will cover the other phases…read more I love that it is near my house! The parking lot is small and right off bay area near space center Blvd. So far when I have gone it hasn't been packed so can't say there is any parking issues at the moment. I have only gone in the late morning and early afternoon. They have and still are planting trees along the path. Once they have grown tall enough it will definitely provide some great shade. Right now there is no shade so straight sun and heat along the path. If you plan it right like when we get fallish weather or a cloudy day then it isn't bad for a loop. It is a paved path so if you bring your kiddo In a stroller or a jogging stroller then you won't have any issues. Plenty of room for a stroller and a runner to go by. It does connect to phase 4 so if you are looking for a longer path then continue on. According to my Garmin watch the phase 5 loop is 1.27 miles.

They are well paved and they don't go into any wooded parts. The trails wrap around the giant lake, near the body of water are marshes with native plants and a few trees. There are trash and doggie poop bags scattered throughout the park (so there's no excuse why you couldn't pick up your dogs poo). I spotted several ducks sitting by the water. If you come in the morning, you can see all the birds preparing for flight. It's so beautiful. On the outskirts of the park is all residential with houses and townhomes/condos. This particular location on Diana Lane, you have the option to park on the street across from some old apartments or in the designated parking lot. There's an ample amount of parking in the lot. Exploration Green is an expansive park and as many parts to it including one off of El Dorado Blvd (small parking lot on the right side) and Bay Area Blvd. The parkgoers are pretty nice and greet you in passing. I'm adding this park to my favorites. I can't wait to walk it every morning!

I always knew it was here, and we actually stopped by here one year around Christmas time as they decorate the little gazebo with white lights. It's very pretty, and very romantic, but after that time I sorta forgot it was here. Yesterday though I was on a long run and decided to see if this park has a running trail. And it does! It's only 1/4 of a mile but a lot of it is shady (nice!) and I love the surface! It's not gravel like Texas Avenue and it's softer than asphalt. It feels like the surface that's on an actual track. And bonus, there's NOBODY here. If you want a quiet, solitary run, come here! There was one lady and her young child at the playground area and as I was leaving another runner came along. That's it. Maybe it gets busier later, or at different time, I don't know. Now granted, this is a small park. No bathrooms, no water fountains, and just a couple little playground areas. But lots of picnic tables and benches and the nice gazebo, and of course the little track. But for a nice little quiet run in a nice little quiet neighborhood, this is the place to be! I know I will be back!
