There is so much I could say about this campground, good and bad, but the most important part of this site are the hosts. I've traveled through here on multiple occasions and it has improved exponentially over the years, in large part due to the staff. Recently, on a trip south I had to stop in to get some shut eye and had all my pets with me. Two cats and a dog. The heat was pretty intense so I arrived late and cracked the window for my cats while I slept. One cat, escaped the vehicle in the night and was missing for a month and a half. The hosts were incredible... I was able to post fliers, they kept in contact with me and my pet tracker, and eventually she reappeared and we were reunited. The hosts went above and beyond to help me during this time, and I am so grateful they were receptive to this situation. As for the campground, the only negative things I do have to say would be other campers. It can be loud at times, but that is no fault of the hosts and the site itself. The staff keeps it clean, and the grounds are beautiful. The wildlife here is amazing, the trails are well maintained, and anyone from boat enthusiasts to bird watchers would enjoy the scenery. I will definitely be camping here again. (Most likely next time I wont bring my cats. If I can help it) read more

Been on a camping journey and camped at multiple places and have to say this campground was the cleanest and most welcoming of all the places I have been. Upon arrival, the camp host comes over and greets you personally with a smile and meets you with that same smile every time you cross paths. You are given the code to the restroom both when registering and from the camp host. Watching the camp hosts they both go far beyond their volunteer job position as camp hosts. They were doing landscaping work throughout the day. Seems like bathroom hand-soap is no longer part of the park fee, but they have a container of soap on the counter. As for the bugs, that's just nature at its finest! Feel like a where everyone knows your name kind of place because their friendliness seems to inspire some of the other campers to do the same. Being a solo camper, it was nice to not feel invisible! I would give them a vote to be named best volunteers of the state. They both obviously take pride in their volunteer work! In my opinion, not worth the price. Quite noisy at night and in morning with a lot of light pollution at least where we were camped (Site 23). The main restrooms were locked, and I was told you had to personally ask the host for the code which was a problem since we got there later at night. They have pit toilets that aren't the cleanest. On the bright side the location was pretty convenient and there are plenty of sites which all seem to be level and spacious. read more

This is a lovely campground. I agree it is not a 5 star since the only way you can register is by making a reservation (even same day) and paying a reservation fee. However as a senior with my access pass I get half off so it is very affordable. Lots of wonderful flat trails for foot and bike in the area. Plus the river is close by. read more

Used to be really nice when you could just drop your payment in the Iron Ranger like a normal campground.. It's still very handy, a reasonably priced Federal (Senior Pass!) campground in a part of the Valley with few options. But they have switched to a reservation-only system, so now the cost of an overnight stay has a MANDATORY $8-$10 extra charge on it. Not cool. Also, the bathroom requires a key code, and last time the camp host (holder of the code) was nowhere to be found. So unless you can find the camp host there is effectively no bathroom available. So ... really handy, beautifully laid out, in a nice park with nice trails, close to town, but the management of it is a f---ing disaster. read more

The campgrounds were pretty quiet and I really enjoyed the walking trails nearby, including the little garden. The grounds were kept clean. Due to COVID-19 there wasn't bathrooms or showers available, but there porta potties were kept very clean! There were many pets but they were kept on leashes, as was my dog. There were several people there that you can tell were definitely regulars and the camp host that I met was nice. Overall, a good camping experience and I would definitely come back, especially for the price. read more

Not one of the best campgrounds I have been to. Sites are level and the space is decent, some more open than the others. Ours was bordering a recreation park, so there were a lot of people walking around. It was alright for an overnight stop but I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving stuff in the tent unattended during the day. There was construction going on and the noise was heard throughout the night. The strangest part was the restrooms which were all locked!! You had to get the code from the camp host which was really annoying since they were nowhere to be seen. The only good part was the campground had 3 Pokemon gyms which I ruled for all of 5 minutes. read more

Do not camp here!!! I repeat do not camp here!!! This is a trap for a bitchy ranger to write you frivolous tickets. She literally ticketed everyone camping for different reasons. You will receive zero warnings. Please save yourself money and camp somewhere else. If I could give this place negative stars I would. read more

We stayed here for one night on the way up to Oregon. We pulled in after 10PM, and used the gate code to get into the park. When we arrived, a random man on a bicycle came up to us to "make sure we had reservations" and lingered for a bit... (Based on his clothes, and mannerisms, I really don't think he was a park employee.) The grounds themselves are beautiful - green grass and trees everywhere you look! The RV spot was paved, which was great! There is no river access at this campground, it is gushing crazy through a dam and very dangerous (which was not what I expected!). read more

Grass hasn't been cut in months, homeless camping out, & police made an arrest on camper the other nite. Sad to see a national park being in such poor condition. Only thing I liked was the bike trail. read more

Great location, close to town but far enough away to be private. Nice campsites $25 plus $10 processing fee you must book online or by phone. Great little nature trail, I'd come back... read more
