I paid over $5000 for a Honda civic hybrid 2007. It was a used car at sycamore ford bargain barn. . I bought this car on July 24th 2019. By September 1 it started to die. I have taken it to 3 mechanics And all three confirm the big battery needs to be replaced. The cost to replace it is over $5000. I tried taking it to a Honda dealer who is the manufacturer of the car and they confirmed it needs over $5000 worth of work. i understand that I paid for a used car but I've only owned it nine weeks now and it stopped working after six weeks. This is just not OK and I want my money back. I feel like I was robbed. This car is dangerous because it's a hybrid and it dies if you are at a stop sign or idle for to long and the only way to keep it going is by putting it in neutral and revving the engine. do the right thing. Not sure why's there are people on here saying so many negative things. At the end of the day, you either can afford a vehicle, or you can't. That's not the sales or dealerships fault. I worked with Corey on my 2014 F150. He was very low pressure, very friendly, calm, and made sure that every part of the transaction was transparent. Long story short, there was a small issue with the license plate transfer. Joe spoke with me, and was able to waive the fee, and issue me a check for the license plate issue. I began new truck shopping a few weeks ago. I was deciding between the F150 and Silverado. My brother in law recommended Bemis Ford so I went to check it out. This was the second dealership that I visited in my quest for a new vehicle. I got lucky enough to meet with Corey.. I let him know what my budget was and what I was looking for in a truck. After a few minutes I learned that a 2015 was not in the budget. Not a big deal, but at least I knew right off the bat. So Corey shows me a few new 2014 F150's they had in stock. Cool, these are looking to be a little closer to the budget. There was one truck in particular that I liked. I told Corey that I'd like to come back next weekend with the wife to look at it. So far, so good. On Wednesday or Thursday I get a call from Corey, just checking in and making sure I still wanted to come back in with the wife and check out the truck again. We already figured out a pretty fair assessment of my trade in the previous weekend. He knew what I owed and how much equity was there. This would be my down payment and I explained that I would not be putting anything else down on a new purchase. Prior to answering Corey's call, I had done a lot more research and found a lot of other vehicles within budget since I met with him the previous Saturday. So, before I confirmed coming back, I told Corey, again, what my budget was and where we needed to be to make this deal happen. We discussed the equity on my car (again) and I told him the max I'd be willing to pay for this truck. His response, "Oh sure, that won't be a problem!" Great, the search was over! All that's left to do is take the wife in, drive the truck, do a little negotiating, sign the papers and drive off in my new 2014 F150. Fast Forward to Saturday. We get there, truck out front, warmed up, we take it for a spin, get back to the dealership, and then Corey goes to talk with the finance manager. I'm sure you could guess what happened next... Corey comes back with an offer. The offer wasn't even close to where I needed to be. You SOB... I about lost it. By this time, there's a few other people in the showroom. Had there not been, this slimeball Corey would have had a few F-Bombs dropped on him and he would/should have got an earful. Apparently he thinks his time is more valuable than mine. YOU, Corey, wasted my Saturday to look at other vehicles that were within budget. YOU lost my business and anyone else who I can convince to go elsewhere. Why couldn't you just be honest on the phone and let me know we were this far away? Had I known this, I could have spent my time productively pursuing other vehicles. Did you really think I was going to go $100 a month over budget on this vehicle? You're an idiot. There was one person though that calmed me down a bit, and that was Joe S. He saw the situation develop, and after I got done listening to Corey and the finance manager's BS, he pulled me aside as I was leaving. While this was going on, he took it upon himself to run some numbers on a lease. Wow, a salesman that I wasn't even working with actually listened to me, unlike you, Corey. Joe knew where I wanted to be at, monthly $ wise, and was actually able to achieve that goal through their lease program. Unfortunately, a lease isn't the route I'm willing to go, but it was nice to have someone actually listen to me and understand what "I" wanted. So Joe, 5 stars to you. Everyone else at Bemis Ford, negative 36 stars. For those of you who might actually consider going to Bemis, ask for Joe. If Corey greets you when you arrive, ask to work with Joe. Joe will listen. I had a great experience. I called the dealership after seeing a used truck I was interested in. My call was answered by Tony Martino. I listed off all of my questions for him. Tony called me back promptly with answers to all my questions. I set an appointment for the next afternoon. Tony called the next morning to let me know the truck still was available. When I arrived the truck was freshly cleaned and inside for me to inspect. It was exactly as described. The negotiations were quick and fair. They had me on my way in my new truck quickly. I contacted them through cars.com after I stopped by on a Sunday. The car I was interested in was nice till I noticed several dents on the roof. When I contacted them by E-mail I asked about when they would be fixing the car. It was a 2015 so I'm not sure how they could even put it on their lot in that condition. I was told they would fix the dents "but that is going to raise the price" No idea how they expect a customer to pay for repair of damage not caused by the customer. Instead I went to Mendota Ford and found basically the same car with less miles and at the same price and best of all no dents. Needless to say I bought it and drove through the Bemis parking lot on the way home. The other car is still there and still dented. SERVICE CUSTOMER BEWARE! This is no longer an authorized Ford dealership. If your vehicle is still under warranty, go to Brad Manning Ford in DeKalb instead because Sycamore Ford will not honor your warranty. I made a service appointment last week and took the day off of work for it. I should've been notified the day before my appointment that they were no longer an authorized Ford dealership. Then I would've cancelled my appointment and not wasted my time. I was also having an oil change done. I dropped it off for a 7:30 AM appointment and they hadn't even looked at my vehicle six hours later. The service manager Joe Emmerick said that they were busy and backed up and that my visit was "unscheduled" even though I made an appointment a week ago. Good customer service is not about excuses. It's about solutions, which Joe did not provide me with. I purchased my vehicle from this dealership two years ago. I expected better customer service and some sort of consideration for my time. Joe needs to be re-trained on proper customer service skills. Now I need to take off another day of work and bring my vehicle to Brad Manning Ford. What a complete waste of time! This place does not have the usual feel of pushy sales people or someone just trying to sell a car. The staff is personable and treats you like a person, not just another number. Absolutely the worst when comes to service. Had my car serviced there and the mechanic wrote the the cabin air filter was in good shape when it was missing. Ordered a new key fob was told it would take 2-3 days to receive. Didn't here anything for 2 weeks. Turns out they hadn't ordered it. When I did receive it, it had to be programmed. When I got home, I found out the fob had been programmed as a "my key". Took it back and they blamed me for the issue. I'll never go there again read more

Worst Used Car Buying Experience I've Ever Had. Bought a used 2006 Mazda 3. Also bought an extended warranty at the time, "just in case". Used the extended warranty so many times, the service department told me that the warranter didn't want to honor another repair with it. The repairs that were done were sometimes ok, sometimes not. IE; had to get a new radio console (with the extended warranty), received a used one that Bemis found somewhere, was not put in correctly, and had to make a return trip so it did get done correctly. Bought this car thinking I would have to make car payments and not car repairs. Not the case. This year I will have it paid off, while still having to pay for repairs. Ever since they cleaned house and let go all of their good sakes and service people, this shop went from a good local family store to a dealer about nothing bit the bottom line. I have bought multiple vehicles here as well as used the service dept for years. I will not be back. The staff they let go were personable and knowledgeable. This new group is pathetic, knows nothing about the cars or financing. Spent 8 hours, yes 8, in the shop, being told, "I'm almost done" by financing. I had my young child with me. Inwas denied access to my old car to run across the street and grab some lunch for my starving child. The salesperson was insistent they go with. I was laughed at by finance when discussing finance for the car. My work credit union has an extremely low,rate for cars. The finance guy laughed and said no way. Fyi they do have the low rate and I re financed my loan with my credit union. The finance guy was all about making me wait do, by the time we met I was just ready to get the,he'll out if there. Never explained some ridiculous service contract. I later cancelled that. I'm so glad I did. I needed to leavecto get my child to a sorting class. They knew I lived an hour away. I was told, after being there 7 hours at this point, I could drive my daughter to her event, 90 minutes away, then drive back at 8 pm at night and everything would be ready to go. Um no. We had been there a ridiculous amount if time already. How incredibly rude. I wish the finance and sales people would actually work on a sake instead of going outside every 19 minutes to smoke. I couldn't wait to get out if there. They all smelled so bad of smoke that I was nauseous. Completely professional. Once we left with my new car, finally, the sales person friended me on social media, from their personal account. I am not easy to find on social media. That took some work to find me. I declined and blocked the person. Ridiculous. Yes I could have walked out. However I was denied my old car to go get my child some food. Pretty sure I would have been contained if I tried to walk out with out a sake. I just wanted to be done. Did I mention I was the ONLY person in the dealership buying a car! Midweek. No one else there. It's not like it was a saturday. After the sale finance had to email me forms that he didn't do. Ridiculous. At this point, if my car breaks down in front of the shop I will tow it elsewhere. I emailed a legit question and never hot a response. Of course not.the sale was over. They had their money. Completely i.personal and only care about money. I knew I shouldn't go there once you let Jake and the rest of the good people go. My mistske. Never again. Ever. I've tried 3 times to schedule an appointment and the phone just keeps ringing. I left a message 2 weeks ago that I needed an oil change. No call back. Yesterday I received a letter in the mail saying my airbag is part of a recall. I would like to get my car fixed but I'm going to have to drive further out to another dealer because no one will answer the phone! An unexpected experience! I always need to prepare myself before pulling into a car "dealership". I was blindsided! I took one car for a test drive. With the second one, I was handed the key and went on my own. I was given pricing and a business card. No taking my keys or drivers license, meeting every manager, or even pesty calls after I left. I looked elsewhere and a few days later I recieved a call. They would like my business and will do what it takes to get me the best price and put me in the vehicle that I wanted. When quoted a price over the phone, it was better than the competition. I stopped in to ask about pricing details and they suggested that I take the car for the day (knowing I had to drive to meetings in the suburbs) and even filled the tank. He said, "We want you to be happy with the car before you make your decision." I liked the car and loved how I was treated. These people are professional, straightforward and honest! I have already and will continue to recommend them to anyone in the market for a new vehicle. read more

There was good and there was bad and then a bit of good. Let me explain. We bought a used 2005 F150 and the overall buying process was fine. No problems and Tom the salesman even worked hard to keep the time we were there to a minimum. I had driven the truck a few days earlier and when we arrived, it was "ready" for us. We took one last test drive and the passenger side windows did not work. They fixed right away. The gas tank was under 1/4 tank and when they gave me the key(s) they only gave me one. I asked about a spare and he said I could get one at any Ford dealer, lol. I looked around and asked if this was not an authorized Ford dealer? He said yes, and took me to the parts counter where they said I could buy a second key for $35 and another $95 to program it. (Keep in mind I had not yet started the car since signing the papers and only after signing did he offer me all the key(s) and fobs). They told me it would be about an hour to program so we left to get a bite to eat. When we got back, the key was ready and Jake Johnson in the Service area told me he was not going to charge me for the programing and all I had to do was pay for the key. Hats off to Jake for doing what he could. It was a bit disappointing that after spending more than $11,000 on a used vehicle we had to pay an extra $37 for an second key and our first stop after leaving the dealership was a gas station so we could get back to Rockford. read more

June 05, 2015 I Think They are HONEST. an Earned FAN. 4 Stars. I bought a used car from Brian Bemis in May 2015. I'm old school. I've purchased many new and used cars over the years. I do my homework on each vehicle before I go to see it. When I do go to see one, I usually take my own inspection tools with me. More cars have been turned down by me than by the car lot mechanics. With That being said, I just wanted to say How Refreshing it was to deal with Brian Bemis Ford of Sycamore IL. Starting with a Mr. Cory Cantrell in sales, when I first called him to inquire, he gave me full information on the car and its condition. He also understood my very busy schedule. I have to say, he never pressured me, matter of fact, he re-arranged HIS schedule to fit mine. I was so use to the Typical 'Used Car Sales Person' that I went in with a Pre-set mind. It was Absolutely Refreshing to find that Mr. Cantrell was Real, Honest, and a No 'bs' Person. I'm glad to have met him. When I am ready for my next car, I will ask for him by name. If he is no longer in Sales, I will expect he has moved Up the Ladder because, I started as a worker and 25 years later, I now own our business. I can spot Talent (and a good car) from a mile away. Mr. Cantrell has that elusive and subtle Talent. Sales withOut pressure. He also went the proverbial 'extra mile'. He went the Extra 15 Miles because he brought the car I bought to me because I had a dilemma. The car was a Surprise for my Wife so I could not ask Her to drive me there. Mr. Cantrell took care of that. Mr. Cantrell also took his Own time and made an Owners manual that I could put on my computer so I could print out any OEM Specs that I wanted. It worked out Great! Thank You Mr. Cantrell. I also want to thank Mr. Jon Detrick. He took time to explain how the extended Warrantee works. Once again, NO pressure, No Hype. He gave me it in writing and I still said can I take this and think about it (i.e. do My Homework)? No problem. And because he Did that, and I did my work, I Did go in and buy the extended warrantee. To sum this up: I walked into Brian Bemis with my 'Car Sales Person Deflectors' on High Alert. ,,, I walked out a Very Satisfied Customer, so far... The Real Test is IF or When I might have to take it back for Repairs that are needed for items just too deep for me to see in my inspection. It will be THEN what the Service department Manager Mr. Mark Lankford, who was so kind to send us a letter introducing himself and his department and their service offers can do for us, and the real cost of those repairs. So Far (June 3rd 2015) no problems. But, we have only put 25 miles on it so far. More reviews will follow. To paraphrase, I might end it this way; I came, I Saw, I Doubted,,, but I BOUGHT at Brian Bemis. As General General MacArthur Said; "I Will be Return". Or, if in some strange bad Service way, As Arnold would say; "I'll be back". Worst service center I have ever visited. The service is terrible. They broke and striped studs on my tires and didnt take responsibility after i specifically requested they use a lubricant when removing the lug nuts. DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE, THEY ROUTINELY CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS YOU DONT NEED OR WERENT BROKEN BEFORE YOU BROUGHT YOUR CAR IN. Jay the service Rep i dealt with was not knowledgeable and only cared about covering for his mechanic that screwed up. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE- Their sales staff seemed perfectly fit for the job however and were more than friendly to me well i browsed the parking lot. Drove 2 1/2 hours to see a used truck that this dealership had...was told no rust--got there and it had two spots of rust...the seat had a small rip in it...and wasn't all the way cleaned...smelled of cow manure. Took the truck for a test drive and it made a noise when excelerated. The salesman was very nice, but then he got the manager to talk about the truck...he was extremely rude!! Might have looked at more trucks but just wanted to get out of there. Very unprofessional!! read more
