Sycamore & Oak is more than just a cross street. It is a collection of fast bites, retail shops, a bar and food stands. It is directly across the street from Care First Arena. All bags are checked by security before you can enter the facility. The closest metro is Congress Heights. From time to time there are community events in the space. The vendors probably change. When I visited, here were some of the occupants: Dionne's Bar: Lots of people gather here since there are places to sit and visit. If a game or concert is going on, this area will be packed. Glizzy's: Casual vegan food that is popular. Customers are given beepers to be notified when their food order is ready. You could wait 20 minutes for your order. Fresh Food Factory: A decent selection of choices. Healthy Corners: A mini health food store with items such as Nutritional Yeast (yummy on pop corn), smoothies, beverages and lots of snacks or to go items. The prices are reasonable, in spite of being across the street from the arena (with theme park prices). The arena charges $6 for bottled water and $9 for fries. The retail stores were interesting. If you are attending a basketball game or other event at the arena, you might not be able to take all of your purchases inside (especially food).

I came to Sycamore & Oak last Sunday for the Mystics Brunch and basketball event. Conveniently located across the street from CareFirst Arena, it was ideal for a 2-hour brunch with unlimited mimosas lol. They have outdoor seating next to a beautiful blue mural. Once inside, each table had its own WNBA ball flower pot as the centerpiece. Brunch was catered by Dionne's: scrambled eggs, potatoes, fried chicken, red velvet waffles, bacon, sausage, blueberries, strawberries, and a choice of orange or pineapple mimosas. The servers were warm and did a fantastic job managing the lines.

I recently came here for an event and was pleasantly surprised. For a while I've heard of this space and never went. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! The vibes are nice and chill plus they have a few food vendors and a bar. I cannot wait to see about more events in the space.

We were told that multiple staff members called out, leaving a single manager ("One") to handle everything alone. While I empathize with the employee, this reflects a serious failure in management and corporate planning by Ross Stores. There was no backup support, no urgency to resolve the situation, and no communication to customers about how it would be addressed. A 2.5-hour wait to check out is not just inconvenient--it's unreasonable and raises concerns about customer safety, store security, and employee conditions. One customer was elderly utilizing assisted walking device. They didn't announce cashier shortages until 2 hours into our waiting in line. If the items that I was picking up were not urgent, I would've walked out and many people did. This experience completely changed how I view this location. I strongly urge corporate to review staffing practices and implement contingency plans so customers are not subjected to this level of neglect. I hope this is taken seriously, as no customer should have to go through this.

They are not the most friendly in there to begin with and then top it off with a dose of insult in the customers face. Of course she called the store to complain but who knows what happened if anything at all. Best I can do is not spend my money where my service is not valued.

I don't remember why or what it was for, but it really hampered the shopping experience. I directly ran to food section and started to look over what they had to offer. I browse for the snacks. Mostly crackers and cookies. I attempted to get some drinks, but there wasn't much to pick over. Since I was lucky enough to have a fridge in my room, I was able to grab some things that were needing some cooling. Which can be a nice thing. However, the selection was sparse when it came to what was on the shelves. So I stuck to a few things I knew and had to grab a few I had never tried. Honestly, try their birthday cake sandwich cookies, they are amazing. What really lacked here was the registers. There was a line. They were using both the self checkout registers and regular registers. Even at that, the line was pushing back to past their construction area. Then you have to factor in those people that don't understand how lines work and just want to get out of the store quickly. Once I returned to the hotel, I was told that I went to the ghetto Target. I didn't know there was such a thing. I was told that I should have went across the river to that one.

I was looking for something specific & had better choices at the Nike store. The associate was not very engaging or helpful. She never moved from her position near the front of the store. From the moment we entered, the customer service was disappointing and unprofessional. The employee at the door, who later identified herself as the assistant manager, did not greet us, welcome us, or acknowledge us in any meaningful way. As I shopped, it appeared that she was monitoring my movements from aisle to aisle, which was uncomfortable and unwelcoming. When I selected shoes and had my granddaughter try them on, the employee made no effort to offer assistance, ask if we needed help, or check if we had found everything we were looking for. When I went to check out, the assistant manager simply walked to the register and told me to bring my items over. She did not ask if I was ready to purchase or if I had found everything I needed. I also requested a military discount and was prepared to show my military ID, but was told it would not apply to the shoes I selected. No clear explanation was given, and the policy seemed inconsistent and unclear. During the checkout process, instead of focusing on my transaction, the assistant manager carried on a casual conversation with the security guard, who was eating popcorn at the time. They openly discussed other customers in the store, which I found highly inappropriate and unprofessional. This was not only poor service--it was unacceptable behavior for someone in a management role. As the first and primary representative customers encounter, the assistant manager set a negative tone for the entire experience. If this is the standard of customer service that Famous Footwear accepts from its leadership at Tanger Mall, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this store to others. I strongly urge corporate leadership to review both the professionalism of the store's management and the clarity of its military discount policy. Customers deserve clear answers and respectful service at every level of the organization.

Used to rock Coach heavily when I was in college. Back then…read moreit was extremely durable, and affordable: two key factors, especially for a student. And when they had a store in Georgetown, DC. I STILL have my men's satchel briefcase from college. Back then the leathers were super supple buffalo hides. I also still have a checkbook holder and a few other zippered pouches and such that I no longer use. Today's Coach isn't nearly as nice, especially the men's line. Around 2000, the company shifted its offerings from simply designed, neutral-toned leather purses to bags made of mixed materials ― that is, leather paired with canvas or nylon ― available in an array of colors and logo prints. Simply put, in order to keep up with "trends" they started selling crap. Called the Tyson's store last year to ask about having the straps replaced on my briefcase and was told that they didn't even repair bags (outside of warranty) anymore. Turns out that wasn't exactly correct since I just found a shipping and repair label on their website. Hmmm.... I guess the person I spoke to on the phone was probably too young to know what she was talking about. Ended up using a local cobbler to replace the straps (which don't look as nice) so I may just send my bag in to Coach now after all. Anyway.... Their quality fell off and I had long since moved on so I really didn't care. Flash forward to the year 2022 and I was considering something nice for my daughter's 16th birthday. Something nice but not "too" nice if you catch my drift. Something a 16-year-old girl would appreciate and I wouldn't be pissed if she lost or damaged beyond recognition. Someone sent me a gift idea of a Coach keychain pouch - from Bloomingdale's, for $65. Remembering that there was a Coach store down at Tanger Outlets, I decided to check them out first. Fearing online fakery and running out of time as her birthday approaches, I knew I wouldn't have time to get anything shipped. Another deciding factor in going to Tanger. Disclaimer: Since it opened a few years back, I never really have gone down there to look at anything. Plus, I'm suspicious of "outlet centers" conspicuously placed in heavily populated areas. Glad I went to check this one out however. Although the selection is somewhat limited versus main line department stores like Bloomingdale's, I was able to obtain a keychain ID pouch for less than half the Bloomie's price. This place even offers a 10% military discount. Deal was so good even got one for my older daughter. Two ($78) keychain pouches for $59? Yes please, and thank you. Side note: the floor plan of this outlet center needs some work. By the time you see the big American flag and the building (in the very back of the mall) with COACH on it, you've already passed the actual store. I was about to give up when I walked into the Nike store - saw the ridiculous line - walked out, and looked ahead on my right and there the store was.... finally. I'd been walking around for close to 30 minutes...didn't see a security guard... didn't see a directory...or directional signage.... and was about to go home. I was having a conversation with the associate inside and she said, "yeah people get confused all the time." Speaking of associates, the ones here greeted me quickly and repeatedly, so service is super friendly and efficient. Maybe I'll check out a few other stores at Tanger Outlets now. If you are looking for the Coach store however you'd better bring a compass and coordinates, lol. I was so turned around after my "stroll" around Tanger Outlets that I couldn't even find my vehicle - which took me another 20 minutes to locate as I retraced my path - which was all kind of a blur at this point since ALL the stores now looked familiar. Had Blue Bell ice cream in the trunk that I'd just picked up from Walmart 30 minutes earlier. Luckily it was chilly outside this afternoon or I probably would have met a milkshake or two. Got my Fitbit steps in though, for sure! Thanks Coach!
