The market

I love Eastern Market! It's been years since I been there. It has expanded quite a bit. I love the Jazz music the sax player with the singer on the corner of 7th and C street NE. There are a variety of vendors out here. I love the pottery. I saw the National Guard down there, they were feeding the homeless. I want to come back again soon.

I love this market so much! It has so much variety in the vendors, and there are so many of them! You are sure to find something to interest everyone in the group. There is produce, meat, baked goods, clothing, gift items, bathroom products, everything. I got a Vanilla Bourbon doughnut from one vendor and it was LIFE CHANGING!! Huge for $5, my friend and I split it. Great place to come with friends, family, on a date, or solo!

I went on a weekend and it was so much fun. The fresh fruit and food stands were amazing. I especially loved the one that was from WV and giving samples of hot apple cider- it was so delicious that I had to get one. There is a large variety of both food and other items on the weekends. The indoor market is clean and offers many types of food. I definitely recommend going!

I have loved Eastern Market for many years and always enjoy visiting on a Saturday morning. Eastern Market is open every Saturday and Sunday year round - yes, even in the cold, winter months. Patrons can peruse stalls filled with fruits & vegetables, art, clothing, furniture, baked goods and much more. The main building houses even more produce, flowers, fresh meat and a small diner-like restaurant. If you're hungry, you will be met with an incredible variety of food trailers that sell a myriad of cuisines. I'm positive you can find something delicious to eat among all the choices. If you're in the Capitol Hill area, definitely check out Eastern Market! You won't be disappointed.

Great selection of fresh produce, pastries, meat, dairy, drinks and dips! We stopped by on a weekend during the post-afternoon rush and tried a cannoli from the pastry counter. Also got some unique bottled drinks, and got to see the morning local market outdoors as well. The employees were friendly and accommodating as they could be given the amount of people inside. Will for sure come back another time when im in this part of DC.

After 3 years of being in the area, we decided to check out Eastern Market to see what the hype was all about. It was definitely one of the biggest markets in the area, and unlike the morning rush of other markets, their hours span from 8am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. There was a variety of vendors ranging from clothing, pottery, and candles outdoors to produce, meats, and seafood inside. Nothing really stood out much to me for me to come back, except a dairy-free + gluten- free vendor (given my dietary needs): Blended Desserts. The lady is a pastry chef by trade and curated these awesome desserts for her sister that cannot eat gluten. She gives samples and the desserts are absolutely DIVINE. Well worth the price tag, as my taste buds were happy with the blondie and the pineapple upside down cake (both go wonderfully with a cold glass of milk at home!) Will I be back? Mainly for the GF desserts :)

Nice local indoor market with a great selection of vendors (produce, meat, baked goods, hot snacks and meals, flowers, etc). Walked around and grabbed some pastries and a warm beverage. Great service and value. A great place to visit.

This was my first time at DC's historic Eastern Market, and it was much more than I expected. The market is huge (indoor and outdoor) with everything from fresh produce, baked goods, meat, seafood, hot meals, snacks, drinks, live music, and a large variety of merchandise vendors. It's a fun place to explore with a great vibe.

Great farmers market that distributes fresh, locally sourced produce. A variety of other vendors set up tents going from jewelry, to art, to clothing, to home items and gifts. The food selections contain coffees, lemonades, juices, packaged goods, etc. There's a lot to browse & buy. Things you should know: I. PARKING You'll have to parallel along the neighborhood streets to shop here. II. SERVICE A store that really stood out to us as unique was Icon Line Design. They had vintage Coco Chanel buttons revived into a unique set of earrings. One of a kind. Still authentic Chanel. III. QUALITY Each stand is different but produce-wise all is fresh IV. CAPACITY Busy on the weekends. The crowd dies down after 1pm in the summers due to the heat

So many vendors and inside the Eastern market is a nice place to get some pastries and meat! It's probably one of the biggest markets I've seen in a while, spanning nearly 2 streets. Lots of local vendors from clothing to produce to chopsticks and ramen bowls. In terms of value, it is a bit expensive and there isn't anything that screams DC. It's a good place to get a lemonade and walk around. I wish there was a place to get a good coffee near the area, but there is much to see!

It's always super fun to meander around the Eastern Market. Vendors, food, arts/crafts, people & dog watching. On a pleasant day, it's a terrific way to spend an hour or two. Vendors we interacted with were friendly. Fun morning and free if you come just for the atmosphere :-D

Metro is nearby. Parking is hit or miss, especially on a weekend.

No, only on the weekends

Good question! On the weekends, the market is outdoor as well and dogs are welcome. Sadly, dogs aren't allowed inside the market.

Of all the farmers markets nearby on a Saturday morning, my partner and I decided on Half Street…read more It's dog friendly and open later than most farm markets (9am-1:30pm) which were two major reasons that led us here. It's right by the Nationals stadium, as well as really great food places like Andy's pizza, sweet green, cava, Rasa, and Atlas brewery. You can truly make a whole trip and afternoon out of it. The market itself has a really nice variety, with some vendors that give out samples. Expect to find fresh local produce, homemade candles, flowers, micro greens, handmade pasta, teas made from tea masters, wild caught fish, uncured meats, raw local honey, and delicious eats on the go like empanadas, sandwiches, pastries and fresh coffee. There's also live music and places to sit in the middle of the market. Be wary of the parking situation. If you're lucky you can find some parking; if not be prepared to park far. It's also right off the green line if you decide to metro instead. Highly recommend Half Street Farmer's Market!

It definitely helps that there's another market closer to me now, instead of having to go all the way over to the Eastern market. This is definitely a scale down version of the Eastern market, but definitely worth the visit. Ironically, I visited this market and the Easter market on the same day. I really love both of these markets!

Is this the best farmers market in DC? Perhaps not…read more But the businesses and people that set up here every weekend are fantastic. There may not be as many options, things to do, see and buy here as some of the other farmers markets, but they always have consistently great produce. There are only a few other food vendors, but still a decent option if you're in the area and are looking for a breakfast burrito. There used to be the most amazing arepas spot (Round Pocket Arepas) that would draw me here religiously every weekend, but I haven't seen them pop-up here since COVID. The market is open April through November on Saturdays from 9am - 1pm. If you get there close to 1pm you might avoid the lines, but just remember that some of the best stuff has been scooped up. There is also a Friday night market every other week starting in May that's always fun - live music, lots of retail vendors, food trucks and fresh mini donuts. If you're in the area during the warmer months, drop by and support some of these businesses!

Overall this Farmers Market is good and you should check it out. The downfall for me today today…read morewas the pastry stand. I ended up paying $10 for two pieces of dough. One was called a strawberry croissant and the other was a strawberry bear claw. But neither one had strawberries on it and one of them had just had a a hint of a strawberry gel. The other one had a layer of some gel or something I don't know what it was but I was very disappointed. I was charged four dollars for each piece of pastry. I offered a one dollar tip because I know small businesses are struggling. He ended up taking two dollars tip? I really didn't know what to say. I was very disappointed that I walked away with two pieces of bread and paid $10 more than I would've paid for a whole loaf of bread or two loaves of bread. I will no longer patronize that business. Also have meats and vegetables. I saw candles today and there's another bread location. They could use more diversity of products and vendors.
