This store is amazing. Love the local and authentic items. Anyone wanting to shop for unique Hugh quality items should make the stop. And a side note, the customer service was over the top....after checking out I left my phone on the counter and the young lady working the counter chased after me with my phone trying to find me, she was so gracious and went above and beyond to help me get my phone back. I love stores like this with products by local artisans and crafters. I actually wasn't aware this was here but was driving by in my Uber. It was only 3 blocks from my final destination so I asked to get out early and stopped in. So many fun gifts! I really didn't have money to spend but i loved all the earrings and some of the kitchenware (dish towels especially) caught my eye. They even have food products and I ended up getting a hot sauce set that looked too good to pass over. I'm also now learning they have a website with a class schedule and the ability to shop online. This was a great shop featuring local DC artisans. The selection includes items that tend to be classier than the typical I Love DC gift. The staff is lovely, even going to the back to see if a particular pattern was available in the item I wanted. While you might not expect it, they do also sell local craft beer including Blue Jacket Brewery in DC. I was blown away when one of sales associates assisted me with my Blue Jacket selection as she described the type and notes of most every Blue Jacket beer they had. She knew her merchandise!!! Today is Thankful Thursday and so I want to give thanks to this special little shop, filled with one-of a-kind, homegrown goodies! This has always been one of my go-to places to pick up gifts. Whether it's for a special occasion or "just because" I always find something that brings a big, beautiful smile to the recipients' face. While this shop may be tiny, it's still very mighty and does such a great job showcasing a range of items from local makers, artists and creatives, some of whom I'm familiar with but many that are discovered here. With the holiday season upon us, I plan spend some quality time in their online shop. They even have a virtual shopper that you can book at appointment with to help you find the perfect gift. Plus, they offer so many ways to make it convenient for you whether you're interested in local or national shipping, curbside pick-up or social distance shopping (max 12 customers in the store.) Lovely shop full of local products made in DC. I love how each product is accompanied with a description of the vendor with a brief description of the owner, when the business was founded, and where it's made. At Navy Yard, the shop is only retail and a bit different than the location in Dupont Circle as it doesn't have a cafe. There's a lot to merchandise: greeting cards, jewelry, dishware, mugs, creams, candles, and food! The snack shelf tucked in the back with artisan bars of handcraft dark chocolate and indian spiced lentil chips and dips piqued my curiosity and bought them. Happy to support and show TLC to local businesses. Don't miss the beautiful mural of DC monuments near the front! The staff is really friendly and explaining to us the competitive application process of becoming a vendor and a partner with the shop. Great shop for gifts and to sample local products, definitely check out! read more

Love this shop! So many fantastic, unique finds that are great for gifts (or better yet, for yourself). The staff is always very kind and helpful. Prices can be a bit high, but that's not a big deal since the goods are all from small artists. I only wish they were open later. I just spent the week at the Intercontinental Hotel at The Wharf. Beautiful property. I was so excited when I learned there was a Shop Made in DC so close. On Thursday afternoon, I took a few moments to go to the store, again I was super excited. In entered the store, very cute store, clean and really cute stuff. There were three or four customers in the shop and two staff employees behind the counter. They were unpacking stock behind the register. I spent approximately 15 minutes in the store, at no time was I acknowledged by the staff. I was the only person of color in the store, the other customers were not persons of color. I purposely walked past the counter twice to see if the staff would acknowledge my presence, offer a greeting or welcome or as if I needed assistance ( something I witnessed for the other customers in the store), but I was never acknowledged. Sadly, I left the store without making a purchase. Lesson. Customer service needs to be equal opportunity for everyone. read more

This is a cool shop to pop into particularly with out of town visitors to show off some uniquely made DC products. Everything is made in DC-hence the name- from baby onesies to chocolate to artwork to cocktail mixes. While I enjoyed perusing, the prices were high for my taste (sorry I can't fathom buying a $30 onesie that will be spit up on,pooped in, and outgrown within a month). I definitely recommend taking visitors here to show off all the diversity in products! read more

I drove to the wharf location and was a bit worried about parking, but, per the clear instructions provided by Shop Made in DC, I called as I was about to pull up to the store front. Today, was my first time going to Shop Made in DC at the Wharf. I went to support a friend who has an awesome plant-based, luxury self care brand, Third Grace (Black Owned -- whoop whoop!). When I walked in I was overwhelmed with the number of homemade products that were being sold in the store, super dope! I saw everything from cards, jewelry, keychains, notebooks, bags, etc. They also had a lot of DC goodies for my Washingtonians! It's a cool little store and I can't wait to go back. read more

Most of them are successful because of their impact on me and society as whole. When it comes the small businesses that I love is Shop Made in DC. I don't think love is the right word, but I appreciate several things about Shop Made in DC. Shop Made in DC operates brick-and-mortar retail stores in Dupont Circle, Georgetown, The Wharf and Canopy Embassy Row, exclusively featuring products from Made in DC businesses. Everything you see in the store is - you guessed it - crafted right here in Washington, DC from local artisans and makers. Founded by Stacey Price of People Make Place and Michael Babine of Neighborhood Restaurant Group, Shop Made in DC is a retail initiative with a mission to grow DC's makers and artists. My mom found this store first and later I visited with her. The store is filled with all the unique and artistic work. All the work done is made locally. I remember everything I come across I was thinking like I should buy this, and I will buy this. This situation keeps going as I go to next item. I remember in first visit I went there just for window shopping but end up purchasing so many things because I love them too much and was worried what If next time I visit, and I can't find this. Secondly it is great space just south of Dupont Circle featuring a retail space combined with a coffee shop featuring locally made products. Also, you can find candles, edibles, jewelry, and ceramics. Everything in the store is perfectly laid out. One can spend hours and hours in the store going here and there and enjoying great locally made stuff. In simpler words, I would say it is great spot for tourists, residents and for those individuals who are seeking unique artwork or souvenirs from capital. Everything is just perfect there other than price tags. Many of store items were unmarked with prices. Every time you need someone from the store to help you with and tell you the price. The situation was awkward and discomforting because you keep on asking prices and put the item back to its place. In the end its very refreshing to have true art and gift shop that mainly focus on homemade and local. You will find several cute and funny gifts for your loved ones and friends. It will keep the memories alive. products and prices are reasonable. If you are art lover, you find this store a best place ever visited. The gifted are handcrafted and made with love. I am so deeply appreciate of the staff of Shop Made in DC. I came in on Christmas Eve, with only 20 minutes left before the store closed. Despite the last-minute visit, the staff were kind and gracious, helping me find what I needed. I was able to put together the perfect gift for a family member - as cheesy as it sounds, they helped save Christmas. Omg! They opened this shop made so quickly at The Wharf and I'm so happy they did! This location is so spacious and decorated absolutely perfectly. They have some of the same items that you would find at the DuPont location but has its ~own flair~. I love how some of the artists that they carry have started creating new "The Wharf" and "Waterfront" prints. Much needed and they did an awesome job! (See pics) This location offers classes (learn to watercolor with cocktails, something rather with crepe paper, and some other fancy art techniques that I'm not even gonna attempt to say I know what they are talking about lol) But I'm all for shopping locally and last night a pastry artist had her truffles on display and they were so fab I bought a pack. I ran into the store needing to make a few quick purchases under a time crunch and Stacey gave me some awesome suggestions and had me in and out in no time. Customer service lacks at this location. We entered the store and there was only one other the customer directly by the door with the employee. The employee never acknowledged us or made any attempt to assist us, but positioned herself to take on the roll as loss prevention while we were in the store. read more
