Six months ago I was having a hard time lifting my arms without them hurting and having a constant migraine that wouldn't leave. After several normal blood test, a friend of mine suggested I find a chiropractor. Well I found Dr. Kosterman. Not only is he very professional but he is genuinely concerned about his patients well-being. He brought me in talked to me, took X-rays, and did a small adjustment. The next day, we looked over the x-rays again and he came up with a plan. Ever since that day, my life has become enjoyable to live. The headaches are gone, I can sleep better, and I don't hurt as much. He is a God send for me. Not only him, it takes a team and he has the right ones. We've all heard the saying, "Too soon old, too late smart..." And few of us ever think about that…read morein regards to how we treat our bodies until we are there - somewhere past middle age and feeling the pain from the physical bodily abuses of our youth and yesteryear, including somewhat recent trauma such as a motor vehicle wreck. This is not my first experience visiting with a chiropractor, and sadly, I came in extremely skeptical, maybe even somewhat cynical, due to a prior experience with another Chiropractor several years ago. I also came in nearly desperate due to the severity of pain and lack of mobility I have regressed to. My PCP, when I last complained of joint pain, only suggested that I lose weight and wrote me a prescription for pain medication that will eventually kill me (according to studies). Thanks Doc, I already know I'm fat and that I could stand to lose about 40-50 lbs - how about a program or plan for that? Initial visit: History, what has happened to my body over time, and what is wrong with my body, with the suggestion that I must have an extremely high tolerance for pain and there is great surprise that I am able to function at all with as much as is out of alignment and assymetric. Dr. Ahart made some adjustments on my spine as well as stretched my hammies and glutes. Iced electro-massage therapy was interesting, numbed my back a bit. Next day, however, pain was about double what it normally is. Follow up visit, two days later: Headache for several hours after the visit - cannot say if this is because of the treatment/adjustments in the back/neck, just noting it because I am generally not prone to headaches. I do have to say that in the days following the 2nd visit, I noticed my mobility was improving. Hammies and glutes stretched again, more electro-massage therapy. Dr. Ahart spent some time discussing the approach to my treatment plan as being "global" vs "local" due to the injuries I have sustained over the past 30+ years and set expectations by assuring me I would never be 100% or "perfect" again. We talked about my PCP's recommendation - see the end of paragraph 2 above - and Dr. Ahart very clearly articulated that was not the right call and explained why, yes I need to lose weight, but that's not the cause of my condition, nor will it be the cure. 3rd visit - more discussion, more electro-massage therapy, more adjustments. Another headache, this time not as severe or for as long. For awhile, the body will try to re-adjust back to what it remembers as the normal of recent years, so the adjustments need to be made continually to make the body learn a "new" normal to adjust to so it will stop trying to go back to the discombobulated poor alignment of the old "normal". For now, I'm less skeptical, but I'm holding out my final judgement until the treatment regimen has been completed. In the meantime, I think it might be time to find a new PCP.

I am writing to offer my sincere recommendation for the chiropractic care I have received. As a…read moremassage therapist myself, I approach bodywork and structural care with discernment and respect for clinical skill, intuition, and ethical presence. It is not easy to find a practitioner who embodies all of these qualities, yet that is exactly what I have experienced in my appointments at Staker. I initially sought care due to the cumulative effects of "tech neck," ongoing stress, and the physical manifestations of unexpected grief and life crisis management. My body was holding a significant amount of tension and imbalance, and I needed care that addressed not only structure but the lived experience behind that strain. Throughout my treatment, my chiropractor demonstrated a consistent ability to assess, listen, and respond with both precision and intuition. Each appointment reflected a thoughtful understanding of how stress, posture, and emotional strain can manifest in the body. The adjustments were careful, measured, and appropriate to what my body needed at that time--never rushed or routine. Equally important, the environment has always been calm, respectful, and grounded. I have felt safe to arrive as I am, whether carrying physical tension, emotional weight, or both. That level of professionalism and human presence matters deeply in therapeutic care. As a result of this work, I experienced improved alignment, reduced pain associated with neck and upper back strain, and a greater overall sense of physical stability during a challenging season of life. I wholeheartedly recommend this chiropractic practice to anyone seeking care that is both clinically skilled and genuinely attentive to the whole person.
