Things I liked: the office staff was friendly / attentive (especially Latitia), and the office was also transparent about the cost of services.
Things I didn't like: all of my interactions with Doctor Burr and Doctor Scott were uncomfortably quick. A three-second adjustment, a few words, and then out the door. The interactions were rushed, and there was no effort on their part to get to know me, or my pain, or my body. Frankly, I felt like a chiropractic crash-test dummy; no regard for my body as a body with unique pains and needs.
The doctors also urged an absurd amount of adjustments as part of my "treatment-plan": for the the first two weeks of treatment alone, they suggested I visit the office six times. Their supposed reasoning: having back-to-back-to-back adjustments keeps the spine from slipping back into a misaligned position. I don't know if that's even scientifically accurate (I've seen four other chiropractors, and none of them operate like this...), but regardless, it's a clever way to make the most money out of new patients already desperate to be pain-free.
And my pain did not stop. After my second adjustment (my second in two days), my pain increased so much that I couldn't sleep that night. I was warned by Doctor Burr that I'd feel soreness, but my "soreness" quickly moved into debilitating pain. I'm a server, and I had to miss work the next day because my back pain was so extreme. I went to get my third adjustment in three days, and Doctor Scott brushed off my pain, brushed off my frustration. Apparently, it was all part of the healing process. Well, I can't afford the "healing process" if the healing process increases my pain to the point of missing work .
Finally, there are signs posted all around the office which promise a free ice-pack if you show the staff-members your five-star Google review. This is manipulative. The office is urging patients to muffle any frustrations they have in order to receive a free ice-pack.
I chose Crabtree Chiropractic largely because of its stellar Google reviews: over 450 5-star reviews. But now, after my own negative experience, I wonder how many of those reviews would have been 4-star, 3-star, even 2 and 1-star reviews, if Crabtree hadn't been incentivizing 5-star reviews with an ice-pack.
I'm sure some people have had positive experiences at Crabtree. The office staff is efficient and friendly, and that's rare. But at the end of my experience, I feel financially manipulated, anonymous (to the doctors especially), and my lower back pain feels much worse than when I first walked through those doors.
Crabtree Chiropractic celebrates its own efficiency and affordability, but the reality is much more bleak: their efficiency is actually rushed carelessness; and their services are anything but affordable when you're pressured into visiting three times a weeks.
