I bought a new 1.5 hp pump last year It didn't last a year when I called they told me to bring in the pump that went bad and they would give me a new one for $26 dollars that was great but they gave me a 1hp which don't keep my pool clean. my daughter picked it up for me cause I was at work I never would've left with a smaller pump they will not return my calls I've spent hundreds on chemicals my pool looks like shit cause the pump can't handle the size pool I have. this place sucks. After everything that has happened with this company, I sure wish I'd had done my research first. Lesson learned!!! I hope that this helps others in deciding to purchase from them. March 2020, when the world was slowly shutting down, my husband and I decided to purchase a pool. Nothing big, just something we could cool off in during hot days. Bob was our sales rep, and we decided to go with an AquaSport 52 10x15 oval pool with the Boulder Swirl liner that we would partially sink in the ground. We also purchased an Oxygen Pools generator, the Blue Torrent 1 HP pump, and the Blue Torrent Power Clean DE 60 Filter System. After a delay in shipping due to COVID, we finally received our pool on November 12, 2020, and immediately began unpacking and checking inventory as Bob instructed us to do. Unfortunately, we overlooked the size of the pump and the filter size and checked off that we received them--our mistake. While doing this, we noticed they sent us the wrong liner. We didn't have time to wait for a replacement as we had a massive hole in the ground and needed to get this installed before the rain came. We finished with the install and closed the pool up for the winter. April 2021, we opened it up and added our Formula O, and by May, we were in the pool. Unfortunately, between May 2021 and Aug 2021, the lid to the filter canister broke five times. Thinking we had done something wrong after the first break, I pulled out all our paperwork and started researching what could have happened. This was when I noticed they sent us a 1.5 HP pump and downsized our filter size to the DE 50. I questioned this with Bob thinking the pump was too large for the filter. That made the most sense. Bob reassured me everything was fine and that they "upgraded" us to the 1.5 HP pump because they didn't have the 1 HP pump in stock at the time. As for the DE 60 filter, that wasn't in stock either, so they sent us the DE 50 even though we paid for the DE 60. They seem to allow many customers to purchase items they don't have in stock and then send them something different. After the 3rd lid broke, Bob transferred us to Erich, who works for Island Recreational in New York. He seemed knowledgeable and advised us to change the corrugated piping that ran from the skimmer to the pump and the return to the pump to PVC piping. So we did. While doing this, we had to drain the pool below the skimmer and return. This was when we noticed 5 of the six screws for the skimmer were rusted, and the faceplate turned green. Also, the return had cracked. I contacted Bob about this too, and he sent out new screws with no faceplate and the new return. In all Erich, sent us two lids, and they both broke. At this point, Erich said he has no idea why these keep breaking and advised us to return them and go with different manufacture as there's nothing else he can do. By Aug 2021, our pool had been down more than up while we waited for news lids to arrive. By the 5th lid, we had had enough and started inquiring our thoughts on the pump size and filter size with other pool suppliers. They all confirmed the 1.5 HP pump, which is for a 23,000-gallon pool, was way too big for the DE 50 filter, which is for a 7,500-gallon pool. Our pool is only 3,500-gallons. At this point, I requested a full refund on these items and told them I'd mail them back with a pre-paid shipping label from them. The problem was I didn't have a breakdown of the price we paid for each item because, as you can clearly see in the picture, they covered up the itemized list with the Merchant Copy receipt and refuse to show it to me with my husband signature on it. They will only show me the saved one on their computer, which can easily have the price changed/removed. They respond that we purchased the pool, skimmer, pump, filter as a package and can only give me that total price. They claim they cannot break it down, and they're willing to give us $390 when they receive the items back. This seemed like a small amount, so I went directly to their website. The price they want to refund isn't even for the pump/filter we originally paid for. Unfortunately, it's Bob's word against my husband because the description on the receipt is extremely vague. After many conversations with Bob, while picking out what we wanted, we were under the impression we were getting a 1 HP pump with the Power Clean DE 60. We used this company two years in a row. The only reliable aspect of this company are the teenagers that the service guy, Joe, gets to actually do the opening and closing of the pools - they work hard and are well mannered as respectful. That having been said, the rest of the business is a disaster. Joe took our filter for an acid wash on 11/26/2019 and said that we would get it back late January. I started calling his cell and leaving voicemails and text messages in March. I also left several voicemails at their store on Babcock Blvd. I never heard back from anyone, yet I paid $65 for the acid wash and they had my filter. In early June this year I went to the store where there were several other frustrated customers. After having some discussions with the employees there Joe came out the next day. No phone call, no text...I just happened to look out the window to see him driving away. I went outside to find my filter sitting on the side of the house with the pressure gauge smashed in and the bottom of the filter was filled with dirt from last year. I called Joe and he said that he cleaned the filter himself, but he doesn't clean the bottom of the filter. Why in God's name would you not clean the ENTIRE filter?! It makes no sense and I can tell when someone is bending me over the table. He then tells me that my skimmer is cracked and that he'd be out the following day to handle it. I told him not to bother. My wife calls to speak to the manager. The manager assures her that he is going to handle the situation and that he would call my wife back. Never heard from anyone. That was more than 2 weeks ago. Buyer Beware. Purchased a Hercules pool for partially inground and above ground and Bob ordered a inground pool. My installer started to put together and realize there were no support brackets to hold water because it was partially above ground. I had the installer reinstall the pool with supporting brackets and it cost me an additional $2500 for Bob's mistake. Ordered a pool water heater, Bob never told us it was out of stock when purchased in January 2021. Then charged us an extra $300 for shipping fees because it could be shipped with the pool. Bought it anyway and Bob assured us that the heater will be in March, if not I can get a refund. I decided to get a refund and Swimming Pool Discounters could NOT even process the refund. So I called them with my concerns and they explained they had supply chain issues last year. So I figured what the heck if I am paying with credit card what do I got to loose. If they don't ship my pool or send me the wrong stuff I just dispute it. The pool was shipping in less then two weeks and was awaiting my pickup at a local trucking terminal. We ended up having to replace our pool this past summer, we just happened to receive a flyer in the mail from Swimming Pool Discounters. We went to the showroom and met with the salesman Bob, he was great and helped us pick out a pool that worked with our budget. He promised us we would have our pool installed within 2 weeks. Joe the installer was to contact us, but after 3 weeks, he still had not called. My wife called the office and Bob called the installer, but still no call from Joe the installer. Bob finally emailed my wife with Joe's phone number. She called numerous times and left numerous voicemails but no return call from Joe. I originally gave a 5 star Google review based on the salesman's effort but the company sucks! While the price was great, the quality was not and to make matters worse, it's been one problem after another. Granted, some of it was the (lack of) knowledgeable pool people we have here but the other was half our order was broken! The pool guys came over and after getting the area leveled, discovered some uprights were broken. After calling the company and waiting a week to get them, I had to pay the pool guys asked for additional $150 to come back. Tried assembly a 2nd time and no screws, after calling and getting them ordered and waiting a week, I was told OOOPS! THEY FORGOT! But I could simply buy at Home Depot and submit receipts for reimbursement....had to go to 3 different stores to get 208 of them and weeks later, still waiting on "approval"?! Last but not least is finally getting pool up and having 3 broken caps but since I didn't check all the pieces from all the boxes, they will not send them without payment! I hate this company! Wish I would have read the reviews before we purchased from them. We purchased a hot tub from them during the home show this year. We were told that it would be delivered in two weeks and we would receive a call within a few days. We had to call them to have the delivery set up. When they showed up to deliver they were no prepared at all. The tires were flat on the dolly (my husband used his air compressor to inflate them), they did not come with any kind of tools (again my husband provided them with the needed tools). They did not take the instruction manual from under the paneling for us when they had it apart, so after we called to find out why we were not supplied an instruction manual, we had to take the sides back off to find it. If I am paying hundreds of dollars for delivery I expect them to be prepared and know what they are doing. These guys were not and wish I would not have paid for it. Part of the deal at the home show was that we were to get steps with the hot tub. We were told that when the hot tub was delivered that they had not come in yet and they would be shipped UPS to us. We called two weeks after the delivery and were told that they were not able to locate the shipment they got it and ordered them again and would have them shipped direct to us. Here it is now over a month after delivery and we still do not have steps. My husband called again today and was told that they guy would take them to UPS himself and we should have them tomorrow or the next day. We shall see how that goes. read more

May 22, 2020 My husband and I went to the store location on Babcock Blvd. to purchase an AquaSport 52 pool. We signed a contract with Bob and made a deposit of $3000.00. We were told 4-6 weeks for the pool to arrive and we would be able to pick up at the store. We left very happy and were excited to finally have a pool in our yard. We then scheduled our dig for July 4th weekend which was 6 weeks. June 29, 2020 I called and spoke to Bob and asked if he had heard anything about our delivery date. He said that he couldn't find our order. Asked if we placed the order on line and we mentioned that we came to the store. He said that was why he couldn't locate the order so he was going to contact the manufacturer and then call me back. July 1, 2020 My husband called and spoke to Bob again. Bob said that he was still looking and would call him back. He said that he couldn't call the manufacturer every day or that they would cancel his order. July 3, 2020 My husband called and spoke to Mike Kline, and was told that the pool wouldn't be delivered until August 3rd or 4th. July 6, 2020 My husband and I grew concerned that maybe our order was lost so we called and spoke to Mike and asked for our confirmation that the order was placed with the manufacturer. We were told by Mike that our pool had been canceled. My husband then asked for the owner to call us back to tell us when we could expect our refund. July 14, 2020 - called and spoke to Bob. Requested follow up on our refund of $3000.00 and was told he thought that Mike was taking care of it. He assumed that it was placed back on our credit card and I told him that we paid with a check. He said that the checks are mailed. I told him that I expected a check by the end of the week and he agreed. I then sent him an email to confirm our conversation which includes our address so the check can be mailed. July 20, 2020 - Sending this letter via email to Bob at Swimming Pool Discounters and also posting to the BBB website. As of today the owner still has not returned our calls. Bob has not returned our calls. This was a complete disappointment to us. I feel that Bob should have confirmed with the manufacturer that the order was capable of being fulfilled before taking our order. I honestly believe that Bob never placed the order on May 22, 2020 when we were there and that is why we were told another 4-6 weeks, but by then the manufacturer would not accept the order. I feel that all we were fed were lies and the runaround. I understand that this is a year for the record books, but for a business to take your money and keep it for over 6 weeks knowing that the manufacturer was not going to be able to meet demands is poor business practice. For the customer to have to chase down answers and not getting calls back is horrible customer service. I would never recommend this company. I purchased a 27 X 54" Tradewinds pool from Swimming Pool Discounters in 2014. The Tradewinds pool has a ten year warranty. I only received 3 years from the pool before the side wall rusted through. I call Swimming Pool Discounters and explained that the side wall had rusted through but we did not lose any water. When we emptied the pool we inspected the liner and there were no holes. Swimming Pool Discounter claimed that they could not help us and advise to contact the pool warranty. We did and they asked for pictures of the damage. When the warranty company Asahi Parts viewed the pictures, they claimed that the side wall of the Tradewinds brand should not have rusted through like that in just 3 years, especially since there were not any holes in the liner. Conclusion from the warranty was that Swimming Pool Discounters sold us a damaged side wall which should have been inspected by the Swimming Pool Discounters and it's installers. Now we have to purchase all new side walls, bottom rails, liner, and bottom mat. They have been fair and very free sharing their knowledge and usually have what you need for your problem. 2020 was tough on supplies everywhere, but I've never had an issue getting supplies from them. Placing one star on this review is painful. There should be an option for negative stars. The men operating Swimming Pool Discounters are thieves and liars. In the fall of 2016 I bought a 12mil solar pool cover at a closeout price. When I placed it on the pool for the first time in the spring of 2017, it was 8 feet short. I called to report the problem and was told to bring it in for an exchange. When I returned home and opened the box of the exchanged cover, I saw that I had a 4ml pool cover: practically like a piece of cheap plastic food wrap. I called to report the problem and Bob told me I would have to pay an additional $69.99 to get the quality that I want. What? The product in the bag was not the product listed on the label on the outside of the bag. That's actually fraudulent business practice. I explained the wrong size of the product was not my fault, understood that it probably wasn't his either, but that my purchase needed to be corrected. He refused and again quoted the additional $70. I asked to speak to a manager. He put me on hold and came back and told me he consulted with the manager who said I needed to pay $70. I took the pool cover back to the store and Dale (owner, and I assume the manager who Bob supposedly spoke with) told me what I brought in earlier was the same quality as what they replaced it with, calling both 8 ml. I insisted that there was a tangible and visible difference, but he insisted I got the same quality product. I then said, "Well if you're telling me I got the same thing, then why is Bob telling me I have to pay an additional $70 to receive the better quality product?" He responded that he didn't know why that asshole would tell me something like that. I asked him to get Bob, and asked that I speak to both of them at the same time. As soon as Bob emerged from the back hall, Dale left the scene. (You know who acts like that? Liars and scammers who have been caught.) Neither man would do anything to replace the product correctly for me. I returned the next day to get my original mis-sized pool cover back into my hands. As I spoke to another customer at the counter, warning him not to do business with these scammers, Dale began yelling at me and calling me crazy in front of customers. He called for Bob to deal with me. (Who's the owner of this establishment?) When Bob came out, Dale continued to yell over mine and Bob's conversation. I asked Dale to stop, reminded him that he was the one who wanted me to deal with Bob, but Dale would not stop yelling and interrupting. (You know who acts like that? Liars and scammers who have been caught.) So I asked Bob to step out of the store with me. I gave him another chance to make my purchase correct, but he refused. I told him I wanted my original mis-sized solar cover back. When I pulled the 4ml cover out of my car to give back to them, Bob told me it was damaged because the box was opened, and he refused to take it. I put the box down on the parking lot, told him I didn't care what he did with his damaged product, and began to take my original pool cover. Bob then physically pushed against me, shoving me away from it for a couple of feet saying I couldn't have my cover back. (I'm a female, by the way) I let go of my grip on my pool cover, pulled my cell phone out of my pocket, and told him I was about to call 911 if his body touched mine again. He let go of the cover, and I took it home with me. As soon as I got home, I called the Blue Wave pool company in Illinois. I told them I locally bought a pool cover which turned out to be 8 feet short, that the local retailer would not correct the problem. The Blue Wave label was on the original packaging which I still had, and the bag was marked for my pool size. In less than a minute the customer service agent began to ask for my address and said a new pool cover would be sent immediately. I didn't need to pay shipping and I didn't need to return the mis-sized cover. If it was that easy for me, and I didn't even have a receipt of a purchase from the Bluewave company, then why would it be so difficult for Swimming Pool Discounters to do the same thing? As retailers, they place orders and receive from distributors regularly. Originally I believed the mis-sized cover was just an accident, not anyone's fault. After reading numerous reviews on yelp and the Better Business Bureau, knowing Dale et al has had to close down business and open under a new name numerous times, I now wonder if my close-out priced pool cover wasn't a bait and switch operation with this local retailer. Yes, I read 100's of reviews and they all pretty much said the same thing...missing parts, unanswered calls, etc. Well, I am here to tell you that yes, we had a few "minor" missing parts and yes I called and left messages, but when I emailed my Bob, my sales rep, he responded immediately. The messages were not forwarded and although I was rude, he was a kind as kind could be. The parts were UPS'd the next day. I then had a second issue with the salt generator ( a wire came out ). I emailed Bob again and instead of sending me a part, he sent a whole new generator. They don't even deserve one star! They will say anything to make a sale then when you need customer support, forget it. I ordered a Hot Tub that was over a month late coming in. Then when the "installers" brought it to my house they were supposed to level and set it up - nope. Told me they'd be back on Saturday... waited all day, never called or showed up. When I spoke to Joe Monday a.m. he said "it's just too much work for me". Not my problem! Bob told me Joe would do it. Joe said he'd be there and just blew me off. Every time I call (every day) I get blown off. So I basically paid $6600 for a big shrink wrapped square to sit in my yard on 2x4's killing my grass. I have called just about every day for over a month. No one EVER calls me back and if I happen to actually get someone on the phone they blow more smoke up my ass. I have been patient and nice but now I'm done. They need to come take it back! I would NEVER do any business with this place ever again. Total SCAM! read more

We were dealing with Bob, the manager. We had a longer than expected delay getting the pool due to covid 19. However, once it arrived, we picked it up. We received everything an the installation went very well. I had a few questions for them, once I called and spoke to Bob he was able my questions without a problem. I went through the website, looking for the specific pool & spoke at length with Bob. He was not only courteous, well informed and amazing to work with, he made sure that I would have the best sized pool for my family & yard proportions. I came away with a top rated Hayward pool for an affordable rate, better than any other company was offering. Delivery was set up quickly & professionally. Living in NJ, we acquired our own installer, so there wasn't any issue there. I was in the water within a couple of days, enjoying it like there was no tomorrow! I asked a lot of questions, Bob had the patience of a saint & a pretty good sense of humor to boot! My experience was quite good, I would recommend Swimming Pool Discounters to family & friends. Save your money and buy somewhere else. worst people to deal with bought a pool and when shipped missing liner called the most nastiest people ever, PJ even told me he messed up my order and they refuse to ship out my liner for the pool that I paid for. they yell and scream at people, and when I talked to PJ all he say's is they shipped it out and he had to pay for my shipping lol after I paid for it in my package, and Mike he deserves to be slapped in the face by someone with his nasty ass. these people are a rip off save your money and buy else where. but I will not give up, they will either refund the liner or send it to me, I didn't pay 952 dollar's for these people to thank they can do what ever they want, don't forget when they say they will call ya back they never do! horrible people and to think they make money I hope this company goes out of business again for the third time. But Mike you seriously need a attitude adjustment and someone will come along and fix it for you sir one day in time. but I will be getting my money back for the stuff you refuse to send, saying it cost money to send it and I paid for it already. to bad we have to give a star!! read more

Great deal from Bob...and great install. Pool was put in ahead ago and has been great. Bob suggested a "heat pump" and we followed his advice. Swam till October last year and were in the water this April. Be sure you work with Bob, he's the best! read more
