They were easy and pleasant to work with to get the classes set up. We had our first class today. I attended the class today as well. Our teacher was professional and personable. We did 30 minutes in class room. and then 90 minutes in the pool. I personally deal with some sensory issues and i was able to work through them and was personally very happy with my experience. The girls that were able to go today also all really enjoyed themselves! What a great experience! I can't wait for my other girls to be able to try it. And my daughter is now interested in getting scuba certified as well! Great job Ocean First! Thank you so much for everything!

Julie was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure to make us all feel comfortable with the variety of skills we needed to know to safely dive for the first time. I felt very prepared from the pool sessions she led to be able to do my open water certification and sessions out in Hawaii. I wasn't able to finish out my certification through Ocean First due to time constraints, but the Dive Instructor out in Hawaii was incredibly impressed with my proficiency underwater, stating that if I hadn't been signed up for the course, they would have assumed I was a much more experienced diver. I lend much of that to the great instruction I had here in the pool. I cannot recommend the course enough and certainly suggest everyone who wants to learn to dive to stop by.

Do not bring your special needs children here, especially if they are on a waiver, it has been a…read moreliteral nightmare. My son is 5 and has level 3 autism. He's on a government waiver that pays for his swim safety classes, which British Swim School knew about and claimed to have experience with. I PERSONALLY paid registration to Eliza, who enrolled us, to get him in and the government took over from there. Mind you, I'm supposed to be reimbursed for the registration fee and any additional funds from a $1000 check from the government. When I mentioned it to Eliza she stopped communicating with me. So my son missed swim class twice, once because of croup and the next weekend his dad tested positive for Covid. I followed all procedures and emailed and texted BSS. I actually called the hotel as well because it was short notice and I wanted everyone to know. The owner Nikki eventually called me and accuse my son of missing his first class too, so 3 in total, which was wrong and I corrected her on. The school literally took his picture on his first day. Then she has the audacity to say the same thing to my sons waiver case manager, who then expressed to me how rude Nikki was to him. This was my email to BSS after speaking with the case manager. "Hello, I just spoke with Elan, and he mentioned that Nikki complained about Lincoln missing two session. Lincoln had croup one week (could have been Covid we didn't test him) and the following week his dad tested positive for Covid. I would never bring a sick child into swim lessons and expose other children, so he missed those two sessions only. And I emailed and texted both times and I called the hotel to make sure everyone was informed about the Covid situation. Nikki then called me under the impression that Lincoln had missed his first session as well, which was incorrect, and I feel like because of that presumption and the funds issue, I have not been treated well by her. I understand there was an issue with the payment, which has been rectified, and I had zero control over; however, I do not understand the continued complaint about my sick child missing swim lessons. Please tell me what I should do differently if Lincoln is sick or exposed to Covid? This is not at all what I expected when I talked with Eliza about enrolling my special needs child at British Swim School. Amber Houghton" I posted a review here just like this one and Nikki called me extremely apologetic and wanting to make up the classes he my son had missed FINALLY. Then she did it again tonight. We were discussing additional classes and the payments and the registration fee. She told me she hasn't been paid as of yet by the government (again, they told me they've worked with these programs before) and that she can refund the registration fee when she received it from the government. I corrected her and let her know I paid out of pocket for the registration and my card should be on file. She responded with, "No card on file." I then responded with a screenshot of my confirmation email with my debit card number attached and on file. The amount of discrimination and disrespect is staggering. And I have all the emails and texts to prove it. I wanted to continue to see the swim instructor Sophia because she's amazing and I would gladly pay out of pocket, but instead I'll be canceling every session we have. Thank you Sophia, you were incredible. Nikki, you should be ashamed of yourself. And from what I can see from other reviews I'm not the only special needs parent having these issues.

She is now 3 and can swim the length of a lap pool and absolutely blows everyone away when we take her swimming anywhere. I can't tell you how often we get asked where she learned to swim. Most importantly, she knows how to save herself if she falls in water. Turning to her back to float when she's tired is now second nature. My daughter has been with Kristen the entire time and I 100% recommend her, though I'm sure there isn't a bad instructor in the place as they use this facility as at least a nation wide training facility for instructors.

PASS ON THIS BUSINESS-They have discriminated against multiple families within the special needs…read morecommunity. My two special needs children were swimming students at Swim Float Swim. The older one progressed smoothly through the program with no challenges. He has higher functioning Autism and is strong and exceptionally coordinated. My second son has a more severe Autism diagnosis and progressed to a certain point, when the teacher informed me they wanted to take a break with him. That was fine with us but when we reached out to restart his lessons, Swim Float Swim told me that they would "pass on him". This meant they no longer wanted to work with him nor any willingness to discuss options for him. Having been a teacher in the arts for decades, my policy has been to welcome all populations in my classes, including those with disabilities. It was unthinkable to me that Swim Float Swim would tell any family they would work with one child in the family but "pass on" the other (sibling). However, that is exactly what happened to me at Swim Float Swim. With his more severe Autism, my second son needs a little longer than other children to learn. My offers of more money or to provide a therapist to assist the teacher with his goals, Swim Float Swim still declined to finish my son's swim lessons saying "if they didn't learn within the time frame then we have to discontinue with the student, that's just the way it is." The owner of Swim Float Swim must know this policy excludes learners with delays, excludes my son from equal access and opportunities, and is illegal according to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act.) My son was gaining skills but he didn't achieve a result within their arbitrary timeframe so he is no longer able to participate in any future classes there. After posting my experiences with Swim Float Swim on a Facebook group particular to parents of special needs children in Boulder County, other members of the group posted multiple stories of having the same terrible experience with the owner in slightly different versions. One story included the owner telling a mother "Something is wrong with your child, I can usually get them to float by now." Another family had their pediatrician call and remind the owner of the ADA law, but the policy was not changed. Each of these heartbreaking stories left the parents in tears and feeling ashamed. It is hard to believe that Swim Float Swim has remained in business with such a discriminatory and illegal policy in regards to rejecting special needs children, expelling them from swim lessons because they have special needs and take longer to learn.
