Here's Jamie after an early morning swim.

The lap pool is our 'go to' pool in the summer. Opening at 6 a.m. there are only a few people swimming. At 6:30 a.m. the Marlins swim team shows up, taking 6 lanes, leaving 2 for lap swimming. It's fun to swim next to the age group swimmers. We typically swim 3k on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. We take Thursday off. We don't typically come back and swim during the day - when the splash pool is crowded. But once in a while we do. There are always lanes open for lap swimming in the lap pool. And the diving board too. The splash pool is fun - if not to crowded and it's a warm day. The slides are fun. And the shallow area is great for young swimmers. All around - Splash is a great pool with fabulous views of Golden. Jump in and swim!

My daughter and I always have fun at this water park. She loves watching the bucket dump at the top of the play structure. She does not love getting hit by the water from it, however. It didn't have an alarm when I was there to warn when it will dump so we had to keep an eye on it. Only the hardiest toddlers would be ok with this bucket dumping on them. Speaking of toddlers, they had the best little toddler slide that is super wide, short, but fun for the little ones. I didn't have to worry about her hogging up the slide while she sat at the top, fixated on where the water comes out, because there was enough room for other kids to get around her and go down. There was a little pad at the bottom. My two-year old had no problems. There was also a cute splash pad and a sandbox with showers to clean off afterwards. Everything here was so well thought out. My favorite thing was that there are restrooms towards the back of the park so I didn't have to haul a screaming toddler to the entrance when I needed to go to the bathroom. Great design, great park!

Decent park for half day entertainment. Nice welcome staff. Incredibly annoying that they conduct "adult swim" and kick kids out if "leisure" pools so that a few grown men can go down the slides by themselves for 15 minutes. Meanwhile groups of kids are stuck waiting on the side of the pool. Seems ridiculous....especially when there is daunting weather, etc. Would understand if it was for the lap pools, but the slides and play structures? Be prepared about strange policy.

Ask the Community - The Splash Water Park

Are there real showers here? As in a locker room for the girls? Or is it more of an outside situation?

Review Highlights - The Splash Water Park

I love the price, the water quality is good, and there are plenty of good loungers to take a nap on after your swim.

This was a great place to get in a water workout in a warm water pool, which is our favorite…read more We came here to use the pool. They have a lap pool and they also have a warmer pool that includes a lazy river and a couple of lap lanes, along with the children's play area. We were there on a weekday afternoon well swim lessons were going on, but had plenty of space to use one lap lane and the lazy river. They have a set of steps to enter by the lazy river and they have a chairlift that enters into one of the lanes. There's also a hot tub that has steps with a rail to get in. In the family locker room there are two accessible changing rooms with a bathroom and shower, including a shower bench and adjustable showerhead. They have an automatic door opener, which is phenomenal, however, the lock is up pretty high, which makes it less accessible for wheelchair users, and short people. there are two other changing rooms in the family locker space that don't have the automatic button, adjustable showerhead, or shower bench, or grab bars on the toilet, but are still fairly large and have space for a wheelchair user There was plenty of accessible parking and automatic doors to get into the building. The space exiting was pretty tight due to how they have the chairs arranged, somebody with a larger wheelchair may have to exit through the entry lane. We also used the steam room, there was no automatic door, but the door wasn't terribly heavy. We've been to lots of rec centers in the Denver Metro area, and this is definitely one of the most accessible

If you want to play racquetball, you can check out Paddles from the front desk, workout classes upstairs, they even have kids events after hours. If you are working out and have children, make sure to drop them off in the children's pavilion while you work out and then you can take them into the pool, which does include a waterslide and a lazy river. If you want to go swim laps, they do have an open lap pool on the opposite side away from the kid pool, which is nice. There is no outdoor pool, which is the only downfall.

Pirate's Cove is a cute water park - it's small, but still packs a lot of fun into a small area…read more They have a big pool (with a diving board, shorter water slide, general wading area), a pirates themed kids area, a lazy river, and 3 large water slides. There were lots of lifeguards at each pool that all looked attentive. We rented one of the luxury loungers and it was a great addition to the day. The loungers were spacious, offered shade, and had comfier loungers than the ones offered first come, first serve. When we arrived around 10:45am on a weekday almost all of the first come, first serve chairs were taken, so we were happy we had reserved ones. There are also cabanas to rent. What knocks a star off for this review is how crowded it was. It's definitely expected that there'll be a lot of people in summer when school's out, but there were a ton of people crammed into the pools and lazy river.

Pretty fancy for a public pool! Is it a public pool or a water park? Haha…read moreOne thing I do want to note is how great the lifeguards are here. They are very attentive and also friendly. They offer life vests if your kiddo needs it. We arrived 30 mins after opening and still found chairs available. Some of the treats there are cash only but there is an ATM available. 3 main areas: pool with a slide and diving board, kiddie area with a splash pad and a sand bar nearby, lazy river where the 3 big slides are. Nice place to take my 6 year old without breaking the bank and staying for only a couple hours.

My girls had a lot of fun. It was clean and well maintained and really affordable…read more Water park/pool area was packed because it was spring break, which wasn't their fault, except that "lazy river" (super small) wasn't supervised well and had way way too many people in it. I would only recommend regulated crowds more, that's why I gave it 4 instead of 5.

Why did I pay $23 to swim in a freezing cold pool crammed full of unsupervised children?! Literally…read morethe worst experience I've had at ANY rec center (and I've been to pretty much all of them within an hour radius). I brought my daughter to swim and we stayed about 30 min. The only area where she could *actually* swim had a giant fan blowing down from the ceiling...we were both shivering within 10 minutes. The pool area looks massive, but the actual space for a kid to swim is tiny. SO much wasted space. The playground are is great for toddlers, but beyond that it's a huge disappointment. Why is there a huge fan blowing down onto the pool on a cold, rainy day?? The pool water temps were miserably cold which means the hot tubs were overrun with people who were camped out in them. We couldn't even dip a toe in the hot tub because they were 'full'. There were also crowds of completely unsupervised kids everywhere we turned. The whole 'adult supervision for kids under 10' is an absolute JOKE. After being pushed, kicked, shoved, jumped on for 30 minutes, we cut our losses and left. Will absolutely not be back.

Looking for a time capsule then loon no further as you have found it right here at Lakeside!…read more This park really is awesome as you can tell it's been kinda just left to the elements of time as everything here just felt like the 1960's which was totally cool with me because its unique to any other park I've been to in the country and that alone created this incredible vibe! It seems like they are only open at night which is awesome because I love going to the park at night as it creates a whole new atmosphere that the day can't match from the sights and sounds you can't really go wrong with a night at the park! Lots of this park is very run down like it really needs some help which made me kinda sad but happy to see it's still in operation if I had the money I'd totally fix it up and keep it nostalgic to its roots like get the roller coaster going and what not! Wild Chipmunk alone was worth the trip here as you don't see many coasters like that being operational anywhere a true gem in the coaster world! Their train ride was awesome too takes you to the edge of the property around the lake making for a long fun ride that we totally loved! They offer all day wristbands or tickets since we only rode a few things we went with the tickets making for a bit of a saver for us money wise so just plan accordingly if you choose this path! Overall this park is awesome I'd love to see it get the love and respect it deserves as I can tell this is a very valuable asset to this community and I hope to come back here again at some point because this truly is up there with my favorite parks I've ever been to straight up a vibe here the whole time!

Is it dated? Yes. Are some of the rides and games out of order? Yep. Does it need a good scrubbing?…read moreIt does. Are the workers friendly? Not especially. If you can get over its shortcomings, Lakeside is a pretty fun place to go, and at 116 years old, it's pretty OG Denver. My husband and I took our son this afternoon (they open at 2 pm on weekends) and had a sweltering good time. They gave a new (to us anyway) entrance process. Parking is free now, and after you park you empty your pockets and do a bag search, which was no big deal and I'm honestly surprised it took as long as it did for this to happen. After security the experience kind of tanks. They had 1 person at the entrance doing admissions and NO SIGNS. Seriously, Lakeside, if you read reviews, PLEASE post a few signs at the entrance with the fees so people can decide what they want as hey wait and do your poor employee doesn't have to go over it while everyone waits. My family waited 40 minutes to get in today, and the fact is that that was 40 minutes of lost opportunities for us to have fun and to spend money at the park, and that is just speaking of my group.
