Less than a month at Clownfish once a week and she is braver, trying new things and actually learning to SWIM!!! Matt is INCREDIBLE. My daughter adores him. He is sweet with the kids and incredibly encouraging. I accredit her progress to him and his method of teaching. It's a bit of a further drive for us but totally worth it. I'm a big supporter of family owned businesses and the more intimate environment and ease of scheduling and shifting time slots when necessary speaks very highly of how well run Clownfish is and how the owners take pride in what they do. All of the staff we've met have been extremely friendly and accommodating but Matt is our favorite :) Keep up the great work. I would HIGHLY recommend Clownfish to anyone and everyone who is serious about their child learning how to swim as well as survival techniques.

They are gentle, but pushed my kids just enough to massively improve their swimming over the couple of years we went here. At first I thought the small basement pool was bad, but I soon realized that it's an excellent teaching aid, keeping the kids close to the teacher at all times so they can make their strokes perfect. It's also got a deep end so the kids can learn to dive, something our kids hadn't been able to do in some other Lakewood pools. When we had to reschedule or cancel lessons, Jaime the manager was always very friendly and flexible, offering convenient make up lessons, etc.

In just five consecutive days, my kids made more progress than they've made in years! My son went from plugging his nose just to go underwater to gliding confidently and even jumping off the diving board -- no floaties and no nose plugging! My daughter Olivia mastered gliding and incorporated arms for the freestyle. It was amazing to watch. Ms. Carol is incredibly encouraging and skilled. She teaches out of her own heated pool, and her approach is direct and effective. She's the best swim teacher around. If you want real progress and a positive experience for your child, give her one two-week session -- they will swim! This was a summer bucket list win!

So we looked around and I liked the information A-T posts about their program. We tried the sample lesson and my son loved it. Their class sizes are small, which allows for more personal interaction, but also means it costs a bit more than the least expensive options. You get feedback from the coaches about what your child does well and what they need to work on after each lesson. When your child has completed all the skills for a level, they graduate, which is exciting! We feel like the coaches know the curriculum and our son is learning a lot. It's warm for swimming any time of the year. This dad of a 7-year-old boy recommends it! Also, they offer private lessons, which are great for focused instruction.

Dear god don't waste your money! Not only do the teachers do the exact same things every week, not…read moreteaching anything new (for nearly $40 for 30 minutes each week!) but the teachers also DO NOT CARE. There is absolutely no real engagement, they are very obviously underpaid and don't give a shit about the children or their job. Which is not what you want in someone who is engaging with your little one. Just like in a childcare center, the turnover rate is terrible, probably because their instructors are so underpaid. It's inconsistent teaching styles and that's really not how teaching swimming to children should be - consistency is key! I'm sure there are some teachers there who are a bit older or who genuinely care and try their best, but most of them I've seen are in high school and are eager to be done with the lesson each and every time, blatantly disinterested and not present. The lack of engagement is outrageous for how much you pay for enrollment. We had one instructor Leila, who spent the entire 30 minute lesson talking to a friend and misgendering my child, not looking at her or my husband once. Just watch a YouTube video to learn some basics and do it consistently with your child at a public pool. Don't give aqua tots your money, they don't deserve it. When you calculate how much you pay and how much their instructors are paid, you realize nearly all your money goes to a franchise owner who is not present. No wonder the instructors hate their jobs. I wish we could get our money back after such a terrible experience, but at least I learned a lesson and hopefully can dissuade future suckers from enrolling here.

Fierce45 takes a holistic approach to fitness that focuses on mindset and strength building rather than looking a certain way. Not every studio does this so it is much appreciated.
