We always knew when Robert was coming or going. There were no surprises of what time he was gonna show up, which with another company, we had nothing but issues and had no idea when they would show up and do work that was not the case with these guys!! They were both very professional and anytime we made adjustments They provided an updated estimate. Robert would even show us what he did at the end of each day as well. We initially contacted them for one big job in our basement, and we were so impressed with their work that we had them come back for 4 different jobs. I believe them to be extremely reasonably priced. They were a tad more than another company that we looked at, however, we are so glad that we went with these guys over them. I really only had one single complaint if you can even call it that. But sometimes Robert would use things without asking. (One Example: our nice kitchen broom to clean up construction dust) we just bought a new one and didn't say anything cause it's not a huge deal, but do wish he would have asked as we had another broom that could have been utilized for a dirty job. I've had lift up concrete lifting work on two dirrerent properties over the last few weeks. Their…read moreprocess is simple; they drill holes through a concrete slab with a hammer drill until the drill hits the dirt below. Then, they pump a grout mixture from a mobile hopper through a 3" flexible rubber hose which is connected to a grout gun. The tip of the gun is inserted into one of the pre drilled holes and then the technician strategically inserts grout into each of the holes, raising the slab a bit at a time until the desired grade is reached. On one set of sunken and tilted stairs on one of my jobs, they raised one side up a total of five inches. The job they did saved me a considerable cost over what replacing the steps and sidewalk pads would have costs. And they get the job done in just a couple of hours. I'll certainly contact Lift Up again for any future concrete pad leveling work.

This was not the case with Full Nest Remodel and Repair. The estimates I had received for a very small, 40 sq foot bathroom floor repair/install were exorbitant. I kept looking and found Full Nest. Matt was courteous and communicative through the whole process of selecting the materials needed to the day of the install. He fulfilled my request of sending me videos of the project in progress, narrating the process so I knew what was going on every step of the way. Once the damaged flooring was removed, it was revealed that the joists needed to be reinforced before installing the new subfloor. Matt did not cut corners in order to finish the job in the usual 8 hour day by ignoring this fact and installing the new floor anyway without shoring up the joists. Instead, he worked well into the evening so that when he left the family of three had a functioning bathroom. (It's the only bathroom in the 800 sq. foot house.) He returned the next day to do the finishing work of replacing the baseboards. The best part about working with Matt was seeing his integrity in action. Even though the job took longer than anticipated, Matt never approached me saying I will need to pay more than the agreed amount in order for him to complete it. And, best of all, he went above and beyond by making sure the young family had a working bathroom for the night. I've done over 5,000 roof inspections in my career thus far, so I've pretty much seen it all. I know what works and what doesn't work. When the workers arrived the first day, I went out to meet the foreman and introduce the family dog. The tear off went well and they worked diligently. I was even asked if it was Ok for them to park the dump trailer in front of the front entrance, which I gladly obliged. After that, courtesy went out the window. The workers parked the dump trailer in the middle of the walkway from the rear entry to our vehicles without asking and then left it there all weekend, so we're having to navigate a new path to our vehicles for no reason. After that, they had to clean snow off of the roof several times and piled it on the main walkway over a foot deep without clearing it off. I came home that afternoon and my sick wife is out there cleaning off the walkway so she can get to the car without falling. They used our snow shovels. No big deal, but they left button caps stuck between the metal blade on the shovels and the plastic. No worries, we'll fix that. They also just left the shovels strewn about the yard. We'll pick that up too. When they left every day, cleanup was on the bottom of the list. There is trash strewn about the yard every day. They are now finished and gone and there are button caps all over the driveway. The flashing job was shoddy around the chimney. Instead of addressing the siding, which is warped from moisture absorption and generally poorly installed, they simply installed step flashing around the chimney. They didn't remove the siding and trim, which is what I would have done, they just flashed right over crappy siding and trim. The corner trim sticks out more than the siding, so I was pretty shocked when I saw how they flashed it. Then they installed a counterflashing over all of that and sealed it up, so it is functional, for now, just completely unprofessional in my opinion. When any pressure is applied to the counterflashing, it gives way, meaning it will need to be monitored. When snow builds up on the shady side of the chimney, it will thaw and freeze and thaw and freeze. The ice and snow will build up at this location and it ends up putting a lot of pressure on the flashing that has no real backing. If they had ran a 1X4 along the bottom of the chimney, the flashing would have solid backing and I wouldn't have to worry about it in the future. The roof sheathing is soft above the water heater flue, which means it is moisture damaged. This was not repaired. They also knocked the water heater flue off twice. I kept smelling exhaust inside the house and finally checked the furnaces and water heater and reinstalled it. Someone please tell the roofers that when they move an exhaust, it can release carbon monoxide into the home. In the end, I can't recommend this company. They need better oversight and training for their workers. This is especially disturbing for a company that has been in business as long as they have.

We had an excellent experience with Utah Basements this past year. They completed our unfinished…read morebasement with 2 bedrooms, large living area, exercise room, utility room, linen closet, under the stairs closet, and full bath. They were able to schedule us immediately once we received all the bids, and the project took roughly 9 weeks from start to final walkthrough. Utah Basements was the second highest bid received, partly because they did not do the flooring (which we got through RC Willey). Communicating with Todd was very convenient, and he responded quickly to text, email, and messages through the UBKB online client portal, where we formally documented design changes. Victor was on site most days and was extremely professional and very friendly. He answered all of our questions, gave helpful suggestions, and always contacted us when there was an issue or he needed direction. Once materials were in, the crew made fantastic progress framing, plumbing, and electrical. The rest of the process went very smoothly, with the minor exception that a bunch of paint touch ups were needed, but those were taken care of immediately. Overall we had a top-notch experience with Todd, Victor and UBKB, couldn't be happier with the final product, and would definitely recommend them if you need a basement finished!
