We contacted Radon Be Gone and the largest Utah provider (self-proclaimed) of mitigation systems after discovering our levels were scary-high. Radon Be Gone (RBG) was less expensive but this was not something I wanted to "go cheap" on... I wanted it done right. The "other company" quoted me over the phone without even looking at my property to discuss the installation. They planned to figure it out real-time on install day. RBG sent a knowledgeable technician out to hear my ideas and concerns then discuss the installation. The "other company's" guaranteed radon level after mitigation was higher than RBG and they would only guarantee that if I installed two of their systems in different in my basement. It was as if they were not confident in their ability to do the job right. So not only were they more but I would need to double that cost to receive their guarantee. Based on these two factors I went with RBG. So, how did they do? They showed up on time did a very clean and neat installation and, most importantly, it had an immediate effect taking my radon levels well below 1.0 on my meter inside of 24 hours. Awesome work! I really appreciate the work these guys did. I bought an electronic monitor, and have been tracking my radon levels (4.9 to 9.6), and was very concerned as I'd been living and breathing it for 25 years. Luckily I had a french drain in my gravel under the basement flooring, so we tapped into it. Within 2 days my level dropped to stay between 0.3 and 0.9! We recently became aware of the potential hazards of elevated Radon gas levels in homes. After doing much research on Radon, where it comes from, what it can do to our bodies, we decided to find a way to eliminate or reduce the risks of developing lung cancer from breathing Radon gas. Apparently, this toxic gas naturally seeps through our house foundation and into our home. We discovered from the Environmental Protection Agency website that Radon is a carcinogen and is found in all homes, but at different levels of concentration. Furthermore, that the concentration levels differ from house to house and neighborhood to neighborhood. To our surprise, there are very few licensed and certified Radon mitigation companies in Las Vegas. In fact, we decided to select Radon be Gone from Utah based on their extensive experience installing effective radon mitigation systems in homes. As always, before accepting an estimate for a job, we requested and immediately received verification of their liability and workers compensation coverage from their office manager Salli. She was very helpful answering all our questions along with the company owner John Seidel. Next, we obtained our HOA 's approval for this project since the system will be installed on the exterior of our home. The system we had installed consisted of drilling a 4"-5" hole under the house foundation, excavating some soil to create an open space where a PVC pipe would be inserted. This pipe was connected to a insulated exterior fan attached to the side of the house with an exhaust downspout to safely vent the captured Radon gas. Mr. Seidel was present to install the system and ensured that our post-tension house foundation was not damaged by the installation work. He also assembled and painted the vent pipe to minimize its appearance. The one-day job was finished as promised and it was exactly as we wanted. The fan was plugged in and the system began doing its job. The sound of the fan is barely noticeable at about 40 decibels. The best part: our Radon level in our home dropped 90% within 2 days of installation! Needless to say, we are literally breathing easier seeing this result. read more
