Our experience with Utah Basement has been positive from start to finish. My husband and I had a couple of other companies come over and assess, but Todd was, by far, the most down-to-earth, personable and kind, which was why we decided to go with him. It was a quick and easy decision once we met with Todd. He spent over an hour in our home during the first visit, inspecting our house and sharing his recommendations. The staff was very organized. We were given paperwork, a schedule, follow-up calls and everything that was needed during the weeks leading up to the actual project. My husband and I had many phone conversations with Todd. He almost always answered his phone, and if he was in a meeting or on another project, he always returned our calls very promptly. Throughout the entire process, he has been of great assistance, and offering assurances along the way. Even after the project, I've had 3 different conversations with him. The customer service has been exceptional - Mario and the crews. Jen is very personable and caring, and she has shown exceptional service during the course of this project. I was always greeted with a smile by crew members, and they would always take time to explain what they were doing, if I was curious about the process. These guys worked their butts off for 6 weeks - with a positive attitude. They even cleaned up after themselves. They all worked together as a team. We had our basement finished in January of this year with Todd. We met him during one of my wife's chemo treatments. He was receiving treatment as well and was so nice and friendly to everyone there that when we found out what he did for work, we had to have him out to look at our basement. Anyways, we didn't write a review initially after they were done. It didn't cross our minds. But we had a toilet overflow last week in the basement and the baseboards had some water damage on them. We called Todd to see if he could help out and sure enough, he sent a guy out that Saturday morning to re-paint them. I had to take some time to repay him. Todd, Jen, Mario and the rest of his company are good people. We felt comfortable having them in our home. We knew money was never his bottom line. He just wanted us to be happy. We loved it when he said he's never had a customer that he'd be afraid to run into at smiths. They created a beautiful basement for us. It wasn't a 100% perfect process. We didn't expect it to be. But we know the kind of trashy contractors that are out there, so we gave them some slack and they reciprocated. We are so happy we met him and so happy with their work. read more

Three most important things to me when selecting a GC to complete our basement: Professional Craftsmanship, Easy to Work With and Reasonable Price. After completing our basement I can honestly say that the folks at Utah Basement Company excel in all three areas. We wanted a pretty standard basement finish, so I can't say that we're like a luxury home finish or something, but they did it extremely well and seriously quick. Todd was extremely easy to work with and did not finish the job until we were absolutely satisfied with all of the work. In terms of price, we got three bids, one from Utah Basement Company and two others from "discount" basement companies. Todd's bid was approximately 10% to 15% higher than the other two, but after reading reviews from the other groups, and frankly their level of responsiveness to the questions I had about their respective bids, I realized that 15% is a small price to pay to get a quality job done easy, in a reasonable amount of time. Utah Basement Company finished my brand new Ivory Home basement. I was referred to them by my superintendent and later found out they have finished a lot of basements in my neighborhood. They did a superb job. They promised me 7-8 weeks to finish my 1900 sq ft and the work was completed 2 weeks late, due to my inability to finalize the design of the kitchen. Everything was within budget though and I wasn't asked to pay for anything more than what was initially agreed to. The workers were so respectful of my home and I felt comfortable enough to go visit them while they were working. I loved that they cleaned up every night. My wife and I would walk it every night and text Jen if we had any questions or concerns. Overall, I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a beautiful basement in their home. Utah BKB completed a major remodel for my husband and me after a clean water flood did extensive damage to our home. Todd did an excellent job being sure every detail was taken care of for us. We are both commercial brokers and had recommended Todd's services to several clients in the past with great results on their home remodeling projects. His easy going manner is deceiving, he always had everything running smoothly and makes every effort to keep you posted on the progress of your project. We just finished with our basement project with Utah bkb and wanted to get online to share a little bit about our experience. We were really happy with the quality of the work and the workers that were in our home. They knew what they were doing and we trusted their expertise. My wife felt safe while she was home and while they were there. The management team was really good to work with and quick to respond to our texts. We knew what to expect and when to expect it. Whenever there was a change on our part, they were patient with us and we could tell they really cared about getting it the exact way we wanted it. There was a minor delay on their part and another delay on ours (we could've been faster choosing our colors). However, we were really happy about how they worked with us and treated us fairly the whole time. And we really loved how they left the basement clean every night. I paid A LOT of money expecting higher quality work. I have tried several drafts of a review only to have it be way too long when I get hung up on listing all of the problems I had with their workmanship. Let's just say everything is crooked, framing, tiling, flooring, trim, doors, outlets, registers, windows, caulking, you name it. They need to spend less time on marketing and train their workers. They do not use subs (read: professionals) everything is in-house. There is a lack of fundamental knowledge of how things should be done. Upon hiring we like the idea of the construction app, I feel like it was under utilized. On the plus side everyone was friendly and project was done on time - however sometimes I felt quality was pushed aside to meet a schedule. They obtained a building permit and only entered through the basement egress window. read more

I used Finished For 14 to do my basement as well. I'm a pretty picky person and wanted to choose out unique and different items. Definitely things that weren't in the original scope of the selections available. They worked with me. I had decent allowances to go out and shop around and find what I really wanted. I felt like they were respectful of my ideas and really that I was the only one that matters. They didn't push me one way or the other as far as the layout of my basement and helped with my ideas. I found them through a neighborhood friend and I'm glad I did. Several in my neighborhood have gone with other companies and finisher 14 has come and finished their work way ahead of all the other neighbors. With a lot less drama. So, I have a smile on my face while I'm typing this because I know ihow exhausting it is to research and stew over which contractor. BUT, if you hire this contractor family, your life will be better for it. They truly are good people from the top to the bottom from the boss to employees. I learned that they don't care about money. They really cared that we were happy with everything. We had several bids on our basement project and my wife felt "good" about Bob and Todd. .They had a very reasonable price, explaining exactly what we were going to get for our money. I just wrote my final check to these guys and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. First, my neighbors loved their letters apologizing for the work vans being in the neighborhood. I had so many people come to me at church and ask how it was going. Brilliant! The walk-throughs were thorough and they were sooo cool with any changes i wanted. I knew they weren't concerned about money. If it was too much to do for free, they gave me a price. Let me just say, the framers came on monday, the electricians/hvac/plumbers were done by thursday and we were waiting for the inspection. The whole job went like that. I was pleasantly surprised with how well things went. They did a good job communicating with me and I appreciated the walk thru appointments. AJ and Wendy worked well with my wife and they brainstormed some really cool things to do. I was glad I hired them.
