arlow Construction provided an exceptional upgrade to our temporary rotomill covering from our shop construction in 2021. We ran out of funds and concrete costs had soured during Covid so we had to put in a temporary rotomill cover. Barlow Construction looked at our entire need, including tear out of our existing driveway and RV pad and rotomill base in front of shop. Tear out conducted in a timely professional manner. Then conducted 'final grade' preparation and reworked drainage plan to accommodate simplified and more functional drainage capability then the one we envisioned. Due to excessive rains we discovered a very large clay deposit in the middle of our pour area in front of shop. After Barlow Construction called soil engineers and the city of Layton for options, the recommendation was to remove the clay and replace with reused concrete. This was an exceptional recommendation. Another contractor could have just poured over it and we wouldn't have known until it cracked and heaved. While it was a change order and had additional cost, the professionalism of 'we do things right' was proven time and again during the project. The outcome has blown away all of our friends. The improvement to our yard, RV pad and driveway is spectacular. More importantly, heavy rains after the pour proved that the drainage system works perfectly. We talked with Greg Barlow of Barlow Construction about our cracking stucco. We got referred to him by a cousin who does plumbing and he told us that he had worked with Greg previously and that he did great work. We had three separate companies previously give us bids for this job but they didn't give many different options for the repairs and there was a serious case of sticker shock with their bids. Greg came out personally and gave us many different options for the repair and addressed a major issue that was the cause of a lot of our problems. Barlow Construction is in Davis County, in Farmington. The work we had done was done with extreme care and professionalism! We had trellises with Wisteria growing on two walls of our home that needed to come down for the work and they were able to get the job done perfectly without damage to our plants that have climbed over twenty feet of our walls. All told, the work that was done took two full weeks and Greg's crew worked every day unsupervised (we were away from home ten of the fourteen days) and did the job seamlessly and like clockwork. I couldn't be more impressed with his team and the coordination of their work. After all was said and done and all the work, we actually paid fifty to seventy-five percent less than the three other bids. Greg has done work for us off and on over the last several years --from basic indoor and outdoor repairs to a remodel and I couldn't be more pleased. I have no idea what the one star review is about because he is as professional as one can be as are his subs. He has good communication and is prompt in his responses. He is also very concerned with quality and that the customer is pleased and treated well. If things are not done to yours or his standard they will be done again. I have literally seen him go back over and remove and redo work that he wasn't happy with. If there is ever any concern it just needs to be mentioned and it will be taken care of. No job is too big or too small --all are done with the same care. He has even personally traveled out of state to finish up a remodel on a bathroom for my elderly parents. Greg showed up the day after I called for an in-home estimate, listened closely to my project needs/wants and clearly communicated project time estimation and budget. Greg gave me a fair, accurate estimate of the job. He patiently explained the details, walked me thru it and more importantly, constantly kept me up to date during the construction. The job was to tear out and re-do the cement for my driveway, walk, courtyard. It was a very technical job, with buried surprises along the way (had to raise a rock wall, move sprinklers, etc.). We worked with this company about 6 years ago. Recently we had a few pieces of our floor boards starting to lift and separate. We called and asked if there was anything he could do even though so much time had passed and without hesitation he was more than happy to help.
