Never-ending WALL 2 WALL Nightmare!
PART 2
-- Due to YELP reviews length limit, PART 1 is under my husband's account & has been moved by Yelp into the "reviews that are not currently recommended" section at the bottom (just scroll down), as both part 1 & 2 have been interpreted as one review for factoring into the business's overall star rating. Full review is posted in picture format also.
-- Read part 1 first.
See "Wall 2 Wall Flooring Photos" at top for +50 pictures documenting the issues.
Continued from Part 1... Meanwhile, the manufacturer verified their defects and we were told that Wall 2 Wall Flooring could redo the basement at no cost. The problem being that we already had moved our home business into the basement as our lease was up at our prior residence.
We absolutely could not shut down the business while they reinstalled carpet (that had yet to be ordered and would be a completely different dye lot (read on for that additional screw up).
I told them to credit the basement portion on the bill instead, as now, we could not fix the basement until we sold out business in about five years.
Janelle Wiser, the sales agent said that was not an option (read - lost commissions... $$$), to which I replied, it was one of two options, the other being a court of law!
During that conversation Janelle Wiser actually told me that this time, her very best installation team would be used instead of the previous ones. She said that they had not been available originally as they were doing her close friend's installation at the same time as ours (I'm sure it too was a 28 THOUSAND dollar project). So we originally paid a premium price, and were promised the best, and essentially probably would have been better off with a bunch of day workers from outside Home Depot.
On top of all this were several other major failures on the part of Wall 2 Wall Flooring, and especially Janelle Wiser.
We had specifically insisted that the whole home's carpet be from the same dye lot and sequential rolls, as we were ordering a considerable amount extra for future renovations.
Sequential pieces are important because the production pieces are so long that the color can vary substantially even on two separate areas of the same dye lot "run".
Due to the back order of the special carpet pad I chose, the carpet rolls were delivered to Wall2Wall about three weeks early. During this time, NO ONE checked the tags to make sure the carpet was exactly as ordered (28 THOUSAND dollar job). Guess what... IT WASN'T (see text screenshot from Janelle Wiser).
On top of all this, during the order phase, Janelle Wiser wrote up the order, and quantities needed based on their measurements. While paying the deposit I happened to look over the invoice and she had ordered a total of 540 square feet of carpet pad (see pictures)... enough for about 40% of the basement, and that's it!
I brought this to her attention and she revised it. Had I not caught the MAJOR error, our carpet installation would not have been completed on time and as our lease elsewhere would have expired, we'd have had no place to live!!!
I mention this also, because at the end of this disastrous endeavor, Janelle Wiser then told me that I would be responsible for a 25% restocking fee for the excess rolls of padding that she ordered, to correct the original blunder of significantly under ordering in the first place. First she ordered 5 rolls, then 30 rolls, when actually 21 were needed. Needless to say, THAT wasn't going to happen!
In the end, with the threat of litigation, Wall 2 Wall Flooring unhappily relented, removed the basement portion off the invoice, and paid $500 towards repairs for their damage to the home.
We now are having to live with defective carpet throughout the basement until we retire and sell our business, as there is no way to have anything fixed while running a business five days a week.
Be skeptical of the positive reviews, as it appears they have help from, at the very least, their staff's spouses, such as Janelle Wiser's husband's (see picture). So all is definitely not as it appears.
All in all, Wall 2 Wall Flooring provided us with damaged walls & baseboards, dirt marks and hand prints, loose and popping carpet strips, seams coming unglued in less than one year, broken stonework, all sorts of manufacturing defects, and a driveway covered in an abundance of oil stains. Not to mention the daily headaches, installer no shows, or consistent late by hours appearances (with NO phone calls), manufacturer inspection appointments, and many trips to the Wall 2 Wall storefront to battle over their relentless failures.
Read every negative review before you make a decision as to who will get your business, and ask yourself, If this was the care given to a $28,000 purchase & installation, what would be given at a lesser one... or any other one for that matter!
