I've never been upsold on anything, unlike larger commercial places, but I've never been sold anything that felt like a compromise either. It pays to note I am an inherited customer from my long-time optometrist [a dear man who kept careful notes so he could cheerfully ask me how life had gone since I saw him last]. I had previously gone to another practice but had a hard time getting an appointment this time, so I went to Nilsen on my husband's recommendation. Nilsen takes Covid safety very seriously and keeps everything immaculately clean. They have an outdoor check-in location and keep everyone spaced inside. Everything is wiped down thoroughly between patients. Wait times are short. Staff is helpful and so friendly. Everyone is absolutely lovely here. Examination is thorough and everything is explained so well. Personally, I find eye exams a bit overwhelming and scary, but I felt totally at ease here and well educated about my eye health. Working with my insurance is also easy. Great in-house selection of glasses frames too. My husband has also gotten frame repairs done very quickly and easily at the practice. It was supposed to include an eye exam and $125 toward a pair of frames. Okay, I can pay for the lenses. Those normally aren't too bad. I was charged $50/lense then $75 for anti-glare and another $25 for installation. I was given a $125 credit for a pair of $209 frames. That's where the $84 came from. My recommendation would be go to Sam's or Walmart then send your prescription to Warby Parker. You can get frames and lenses for $95 from Warby Parker which includes anti-reflective prescription lenses, anti-scratch, free shipping and 30-day return. You should be able to get an eye exam and stylish glasses for about $200. Lesson learned.

They are taking covid very seriously and there are a number of precautions in place that made me feel very safe and comfortable during my visit. Everyone is super friendly from the greeter at the door to my technician Kelsey and Dr. Norma Spittle. Dr. Spittle listened to my concerns and helped me find a solution to my dry eye issues and I appreciate the time she took to explain everything she was doing so I knew what was going on. The one constant throughout the years has been the manager, Chris, who provides excellent customer service every time. My wife once tried another eyeglass provider, but the difference in quality and service was clear, she is happily back to this Lenscrafters. I also strongly recommend their replacement insurance. It has been incredibly consistent in fixing or replacing any issues I've had, and over the years it has truly been a lifesaver, saving me significant money overall. Yep, eyeglasses aren't cheap, but it's easier when I trust that I'm getting the quality and service I pay for. I arrived early but waited approximately 30 minutes to see a technician, spent 30 minutes in preparation, waited another 15 minutes in a packed hallway, and then waited an additional 30 minutes inside the exam room before seeing the single doctor on duty. Forcing vulnerable and elderly patients to endure these massive delays is entirely unacceptable. It feels like the business is prioritizing profit and patient volume over actual healthcare and basic respect for people's time. The staff did an amazing job handling the chaos, but management needs to urgently fix this broken system or you will start losing patients.
