Charlene and the sweetchic team made my wedding day SO perfect!! We got married labor day weekend, and there are no words to describe how calm, comfortable, and happy I felt on the big day because of them. We were in phenomenal hands from start to finish. The BEST decision we made in this whole wedding process was to hire Charlene. Our wedding was in Chicago, my husband lives in DC, and I live in Boston... so you can imagine the logistical mess that things could have been. But alas, Charlene took care of everything! It was a BREEZE to send her all the necessary things, and magically they appeared on wedding day exactly where everything was supposed to be and in perfect condition. I also made some special requests of Charlene that she was more than gracious to accept. ;) Charlene's incredibly detailed wedding-day itinerary is a beauty in and of itself. I loved it! Our wedding also happened to be on a HUGE concert day... the concert took place right near our venue. Again, this could have been a nightmare, but Charlene and her team really took ownership of figuring out how to navigate the situation, without once making me concerned! Charlene reached out to all my vendors and thoroughly explained everything. She has a wealth of knowledge re: great vendors, and can make your decision-making process incredibly efficient! In fact, at the end of the night, her team suggested extra shuttles to take care of our guests, and magically the shuttles appeared without a hitch. On the fly, yet so seamless! At the end of the night and the days following, multiple guests exclaimed how beautiful our wedding was, and explicitly said, "This was the MOST ORGANIZED wedding we've ever been to!" We had such a wonderful, smooth-sailing night, and it's definitely all thanks to Charlene and her team! read more

Charlene from Sweetchic Events was an amazing day-of coordinator! Initially, we weren't even thinking of hiring a coordinator and just doing everything ourselves to conserve our budget. Now looking back, we are SO grateful that we hired Charlene! Best investment ever. Charlene is very friendly, positive, and organized. As the "day of coordinator," she helped in the early stages of the planning with her vendor recommendations and helpful responses to our numerous questions about the planning process in the months and weeks before the wedding. Her vendor recommendations were super helpful, especially given the multitude of wedding vendors in Chicago. During the wedding day, we felt like we could truly enjoy ourselves because we were confident that she would be on top of everything - and she was. Charlene ensured that everything happened according to plan, coordinated with all of the vendors, and dealt with any blips that arose with ease and poise. Everything went as well as they possibly could, and we have her to thank for our wonderful wedding! read more

Working with Kelsey and Sweet Chic was the best decision we made. After our initial meeting, even as a 'day-of-coordinator' we started working with Kelsey ~2 months prior to our wedding. She helped ensure all of our ducks were in a row, from contracts & payments, to minor details, you name it, Kelsey was on top of it all. Her creation of our day of schedule and organizing all of our vendors over the final two months was such a relief and allowed us to enjoy the process. She and her assistants were there every step of the way during our wedding, and if there were any hiccups, they managed without any of the wedding party or guests knowing what was happening behind the scenes. It was so nice to have someone else in charge, so we could relax and enjoy time with family and friends. Kelsey is professional, detail oriented, thoughtful, and kind- a great addition to any wedding planning. We had 100%+ confidence in her and could not have gotten through the last 2 months of planning, particularly the day of, without her! read more

5 STARS all the way! Charlene has been an angel throughout my entire wedding planning process. Both my husband and I think she is worth every penny. My situation was unique in the fact that I was living in Asia up until 2 months before my wedding day. Charlene found a beautiful venue for us that met our long list of requirements. She then helped me line up fantastic vendors all within 2 months. The final test of a true planner is when she made my wedding day completely seamless and beautiful in spite of the rain. She even printed out little time schedule cards for everybody in the wedding party....that's how good she is! I vowed to be a happy, stress-free bride and Charlene definitely made it happen. She is organized, meticulous and most importantly listened to what we wanted. I really believe that every bride deserves to enjoy their wedding day without stressing over the details. Say "Yes" to Charlene and Sweetchic Events! read more

When my fiancé and I first started planning our wedding, and my mom suggested finding a coordinator to help us, we were both a bit skeptical that it was a justifiable expense. I was won over after first meeting Charlene, because her professionalism, expertise and enthusiasm were immediately apparent. But my fiancé didn't meet Charlene at the beginning. He was won over on our wedding day, when instead of worrying about details, we were able to truly enjoy ourselves, because Charlene (and her assistant Hollie) took care of EVERYTHING. As he said to me a few days after our wedding, of all of the people we hired for the wedding, Charlene was the most valuable. Charlene came in to help us about 6 weeks before the wedding. I thought I was pretty organized for the wedding, but she was really helpful in helping me figure out what still needed to be done, because unlike me, she had actually been through all of this before. As we got closer to the wedding, she made contact with ALL of my vendors, helping coordinate them and making sure they were all on the same page. She also provided very useful suggestions as I tried to make final decisions about the ceremony and reception. And she was INVALUABLE in coordinating our rehearsal, wrangling all of our bridesmaids and groomsmen. But her help on the wedding day was by far her most valuable contribution. As my fiancé and I got ready for our big day, all we had to worry about was ourselves. I'm sure there were issues that arose as all of our vendors arrived at the Conservatory and set up, but I never heard about any of them, because Charlene handled it all. And when we got to the wedding site, she was there to tell us where to go and when. She was also superb at handling all the small issues that arose during the ceremony (when the bus was running late, she made sure everything stayed on track; when people were getting mosquito bites she had Hollie go out to get bug spray). I'd like to think that our wedding was fun for our guests because I planned a good party, but I know that the wedding was a blast for me and my fiancé because of Charlene. If you want to have a great time at your wedding (and who doesn't?), hire Charlene! read more

My husband and I chose Charlene of SweetChic Events to help us plan our wedding after our first meeting with her. We were initially impressed with how responsive she was to our inquiry and when we met her in person and discussed our vision with her we knew she understood us. With demanding jobs and a cross country move planned, hiring Charlene was the BEST decision we made. She was involved in every step of the planning process, guiding us and helping us make the best decisions to achieve our vision while still staying within our budget. Charlene's budget and timeline tools were especially helpful to keep us on budget and on task. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and exceeded our expectations. Charlene executed our vision to perfection. Weeks after, people are still talking about the food, decor, music, and the special things that made our wedding so unique. I would highly recommend Charlene to anyone! read more

We decided to use a day of wedding coordinator about 3 months before our wedding when we realized our vendor list had doubled what we had initially thought and there were too many pieces to keep track of without stressing! When I met with Charlene and Hollie from Sweetchic Events I immediately felt like I would not have to worry about anything on my wedding day! Having Hollie as a part of our wedding was perfect! Throughout all of our meetings, emails, and phone calls she was so organized, enthusiastic and up-beat! She made me feel completely calm, especially leading up to the last hectic weeks before the wedding. The day of the wedding she was amazing- all the things that she and her assistant, Lindsey set up for the reception were exactly like we discussed- they did such a great job, especially with our dessert table! From the start of our photography session until we were tucked into our limo back to the hotel Hollie was on top of everything! At the end of the night she even packed up a box of treats for us to take with! Hiring Sweetchic Events was by far one of our best decisions throughout our wedding planning! read more

Sweetchic is amazing at what they do. Nothing but compliments to Jessica and Charlene. We had a fantastic wedding with all the right people, places and experiences, and just as importantly, we even a fabulous time planning it. This says a lot for Sweetchic (and my lovely wife Christina :) ). Christina and I wanted to have fun with and enjoy the planning experience and Jessica helped make that happen. I must also note that I was somewhat hesitant to have help for the wedding. However, after going through the process I don't know what we would have done without them! Jessica was great at keeping progress in the right ways - she was tactful, organized, and encouraging. Charlene got involved at just the right moments. They were easy to work with, professional, and capable of handling anything that came up in the planning of and day of the wedding. I highly recommend Sweetchic - we knew right when we met them that they were a great fit to help us plan our wedding. It was awesome to enjoy the whole experience and take it all in. Finally, I just noticed that a vast majority of these reviews are from the bride, but Jessica and Sweetchic were so solid, I felt the need to spread the word (I also have a pretty sweet wife which makes me getting sentimental about the wedding that much easier!) read more

We don't even know where to begin when it comes to thanking Kelsey and the team at Sweetchic for helping us plan and execute our amazing wedding day! We hired Kelsey to help us with day of coordination, and could not be happier with our experience. From our first meeting about 2 months out, Kelsey did a phenomenal job putting together our timeline, making sure we were on track with all the little details, and really helped us put the finishing touches on our big day. Whenever we had a question, she responded right away with great advice. We also loved how they used Basecamp - it's a great tool. Fast forward to the weekend of our wedding, and she was there right on time for our rehearsal. We had a big wedding party of 19, plus our families, but she was easily able to coordinate everyone and make sure we all knew where to go the next day. On our wedding day, she and her team were with us every step. There were probably a few things that went wrong throughout the day, but with Kelsey's help we had no idea and were able to truly enjoy every moment. She did an amazing job and hiring her was one of the best decisions we made throughout the whole planning process. read more

We hired Charlene as our day-of coordinator and were absolutely thrilled to work with her. Charlene went above and beyond to help us with every last detail during the month leading up to our wedding day. Courtney and Charlene were both present the entire day-of and helped bring to life everything we had planned of the last year. Would absolutely recommend Sweetchic! read more

Charlene from SweetChic Events was absolutely amazing to help plan our wedding. She was so understanding of our wedding vision and was easy and prompt to communicate with. I felt like she went above and beyond to help with anything (even if it wasn't directly related to wedding planning) since I was clueless on almost everything and had no time to plan/figure things out. I felt like she truly cared about us and advocated for us when meeting with vendors as well. The vendors she had connections to were all great (especially the florist Vale of Enna) and the day of the wedding went so smoothly and was absolutely perfect. I would definitely recommend Charlene to all of my engaged friends...5 stars for sure! read more

Our wedding was on 12/12/15 at The Grove in Glenview. It was approximately 85 people and I would say a medium size production. The Good: - She did help with some ideas along the way leading up to the wedding - She helped with the schedule the day of making sure there was a timeline. The Bad: - During the wedding she didn't make the rounds checking on everything if it was running smoothly. The bartender was running out of alcohol and the only reason I knew is because she luckily recognized me as the groom and asked me if we should let it run out or make a liquor run. The photo booth opened and she didn't have the DJ make an announcement so everyone would know. We only had a short rental period so time was of the essence. The photographers needed certain people together and I felt we had to round each other up instead of Charlene taking charge. - Her assistant for the evening was her younger sister. I approached her with some what appeared to be simple questions and she didn't know the answer and had to go find her. I don't mind feeding a sister of the coordinator if she is going to help in the process. - a few times I looked up on the balcony and Charlene was on her phone surfing the net or texting I assume. Which is kind of weird because when I sent her a text with a need she never saw it until I bumped into her in person. All said....you get what you pay for. The problem is we paid 2,500 and I thought she would be more hands on. Luckily all our venders: caterer, DJ, officiant, photographers....rocked. read more

The wedding has come and gone and, in looking back, we can say with confidence that Charlene was one of the best investments we made. I literally went into autopilot the morning of my wedding. I didn't think about anything - I went where people told me to, stood where they told me to, and otherwise danced my ass off. This ease was made possible through the awesome efforts of Charlene and Holly. I'm sure a number of things went wrong but I didn't have to deal with any of them - except for the constant rebustling of my gown, which they did with a smile. We even had a medical emergency at the reception and they handled it so I was reassured and everyone was feeling okay. Enthusiastic five stars for sweetchic. read more

Charlene Liang is an expert wedding planner that any bride would be lucky to have planning their perfect wedding. She worked with my husband and me to develop an elegant, cozy, and tastefully whimsical small wedding of 44 guests in downtown Chicago. She honored our budget for an economical luncheon wedding and reception while also displaying expert taste in vendor recommendations. Her firm yet kind negotiation was helpful in determining contracts for hotel blocks, photography, décor rentals, flowers, and hair and makeup. And at in-person meetings, Charlene was always on time and prepared with research and questions that I never would have thought to ask to make the wedding day run smoothly. A favorite detail from the Sweetchic experience was a wallet-sized schedule that the wedding party could put in their pocket or purse to keep track of wedding day events. Charlene's attention to detail was also helpful with wording advice for invitations and menus for my designs on Minted. Charlene is open-minded about non-traditional wedding elements. Our groom's party was a gender-neutral assortment of my husband's closest friends. Our ceremony included a prelude scene, chemistry, and contemporary music in an acoustic presentation. She never once judged our unique choices for their progressiveness and instead helped us to create an inclusive wedding embracing all forms of love. Our reception did not have dancing in favor of toasts, games, and activities. Charlene helped structure seamless transitions between each event in the absence of a designated emcee. I ordered my cake from a trusted baker from my neighborhood of Andersonville. He relayed to me after the wedding that "Your wedding planner was as professional, courteous, and competent as any I've worked with. Recommend her with confidence." A vendor's words hold as much weight as mine! Do yourself a favor and hire Charlene to plan your dream wedding! read more

Sweetchic Events - Wedding Planning Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

TL;DR: Charlene was an amazing wedding coordinator, you should hire her. When we were beginning to organize our wedding, my husband to be insisted we hire a wedding planner. I hadn't attended a wedding since I was six and knew next to nothing about what it entailed (other than it would be good to invite people and give them food) and he had never attended an American-style wedding. We were clueless, busy, and chronically disorganized. Enter Charlene. Here is why she is awesome: 1. She is scary organized and has coordinated many, many weddings. She knows what needs to be done and when. 2. You (the couple) do not have to remember when a given task needs to be done nor do you have to sift through dozens of vendors. Charlene will tell you when to hire, for instance, a florist and give you a short-list of names. Everyone she recommended to us was AWESOME. 3. She can answer your questions about what different wedding components are and whether or not you need them. For instance, I had no idea why we would need a guestbook... 4. She is never pushy about making sure you have all the 'stuff'. My husband and I didn't want our wedding to be too typical and we wanted to represent both of our cultures; Charlene helped us achieve both of those goals. 5. She will attend meetings with you and advocate on your behalf with vendors. 6. On the day of, she will be in charge of wrangling vendors and making sure everyone stays on schedule. You won't have to remember anything other than your vows! I can say without reservation that our wedding was wonderful and that it could never have happened without Charlene's expert guidance and help. Seriously. read more

I am going to preface this by saying, my husband and I were not going to get a wedding "day of" coordinator. Our venue had a events manager on hand that we were going to utilize on the day of. Yet as we got closer and closer to the big day and more and more vendors were added into the mix of things it started to get overwhelming. So when my Mom suggested at the last minute getting a photobooth and I very plainly said "that's fine but I don't know who's going to coordinate their arrival, set up, etc; because I can't do it." That's when the light bulb went on for my Mom. She later approached me and said...."have you thought about getting a DOC?" Point being always listen to your Mom!! We were so lucky. We hopped on Yelp and found Charlene and she's been nothing but an angel. She responded promptly to my many, many....many emails. She answered questions, followed up with my vendors (which was a god send especially when some vendors were unresponsive), provided structural guidance to the day and brought an assistant who would magically appear and nicely remind us how to stay on track. Charlene basically took all the work my husband and I had done getting a dream team of people together and then orchestrated a symphony with them. And like every event we had a few sangs however I never saw her sweat and she did everything in her power to make things right. If you are lucky like we were and she has your date open, don't think about it...just hire her! She will work hard for you and keep you on task. Inevitably this is your day and you have to be happy. And let me tell you happiness is NOT running around after vendors at the last minute and trying to figure out who's on first and who's on second. Happiness is a day that moves smoothly without worrying about what's going on behind the scenes. Leave that to Charlene and team and focus on what it's all about - getting married. read more

Charlene was absolutely outstanding as our wedding planner. We were both in our residency at the time that we worked with her and we were completely overwhelmed with our training. Because of this, we were probably one of her more "difficult" couples in that we only gave her six months to prepare, we had to frequently reschedule meetings, and we often needed to be tracked down to finish making decisions and signing contracts. Through this time she was awesome! She was professional, patient and very enjoyable to work with. Sweetchic Events is clearly her passion. Several things I thought were exceptional about her were: 1. We felt like she was helping us to attain "our wedding." By this, I mean that she perfectly focused on figuring out the vision we had for our wedding and her suggestions were always in line with reaching that goal. She highlighted our ideas that worked well and she was able to very tactfully draw on her experience to suggest better ways of doing things when our initial thoughts might not have looked the best or run the smoothest. I didn't realize how important this was until I started talking to friends who'd used other planners. 2. She was an absolute MACHINE in terms of organization and follow-through. She didn't miss or overlook a thing. She laid everything out for us, gave us check-lists and time lines and made the whole process very approachable. She even gave me and the groomsmen little outline/check-lists of what to do during the day of the wedding that included things like arriving to my place early to have lunch and relax. 3. She completely "got it" that, I as the guy, was trying my best to be sensitive and supportive to my wife with the wedding planning. However, no matter how hard I tried, I just did not have many opinions about which table settings to use or the types of flowers to put in the arrangements. She was wonderful in this regard. My wife got the flu before we went to the hotel to have the tasting and pick out the table set-ups. She went with me and took part in the tasting. She took notes on every food option we had, she rated them, tracked my opinion, and even took pictures of each dish so my wife could have a full run-through. My wife initially freaked out when she realized she was too ill to go to the tasting. Charlene really saved the day and my wife was delighted with the work she put into it. 4. She was assertive, persistent and our advocate at every point. We aren't the type to be incredibly demanding or picky and because of this, there were several points where we might not have been assertive enough to get every option available to us or the best deal. We went to the hotel to see the room at finalize the table dressings. They brought up their most common table clothes, napkin arrangements and chair covers. At the end of seeing these, the hotel staff mentioned an extra set of table covers they had in the basement. Charlene asked to see those and so the waiters that were pulled from the restaurant were sent to the basement from the fourth floor banquet room we were in to get a sample. Well, for some reason the hotel staff kept mentioning "extra" things they had in the basement one at a time instead of all at once. Clearly, we were putting the waiters through a lot of work and since they were pulled from the restaurant, they were not getting their tips from waiting tables. We would've felt very uncomfortable asking to see each option at that point knowing this. However, Charlene was "the bad guy" for us and made sure we saw every possible option that was available. She did it nicely and professionally and we were incredibly relieved that she did this for us (we also provided the waiters with generous tips at the end). Overall, she did much, much more for us than I could've imagined. As I said, we were in our residencies at the time. I was just struck by how competent, intelligent, and organized Charlene was to work with. Here we were going to work each day and seeing how different surgeons and attending physicians work, and all I could think of is that Charlene would put them to shame if she was in the medical field. She would also probably have the waiting rooms looking like something out of a magazine :)! read more

We hired Charlene from Sweetchic Events, Inc. to help us plan our 2011 summer wedding. We only had six months to plan our wedding and hiring Charlene was the best decision we made! She was extremely helpful, organized and had great ideas! She went above and beyond our expectations to make our wedding day extra special and have everything run smoothly. Charlene is one of the most detail oriented and organized people that I have ever worked with. She always carried her IPad with her which was extremely helpful at vendor meetings to share pictures, contracts etc. She also has her own wedding website that I was able to send emails and correspondence to and keep all of our vendor contracts in. This was extremely helpful to use and kept my wedding separate from my work and personal email. Charlene was especially helpful in recommending vendors to use and helped with extra small details like helping pick ribbon to wrap around our wedding invitations and ceremony programs. She really had an interest in the "vision" we had for our wedding and I can not say enough how much we enjoyed working with her and how our wedding day ended up being beyond our expectations due to all of Charlene's help, hard work and expertise. read more

As a medical resident, I knew that it would be difficult to plan an out of state wedding without help. Not only was Charlene very nice and professional on our first phone call, but she also sent us a sample budget spreadsheet after that call without us asking. I felt like this showed initiative on her part, and I knew that she would be great! Throughout the wedding process, Charlene kept us on track to make sure all of our tasks were completed, even though we were often delinquent ;) She listened to what we wanted, offered suggestions when we couldn't decide, and recommended great vendors. She was extremely timely with email responses. And the day of the wedding, her team was indispensable to us. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our big day. We felt well taken care of all day, and we did not have to worry about any of the details. She even saved the day when I had a minor veil crisis minutes before the wedding ceremony. Would have chosen Charlene and her team again if I had to do it again. read more

Hire Sweetchic! After meeting with four different wedding coordinators, I decided on Sweetchic, and it was by far and away the best decision I made concerning my wedding. I worked with Hollie throughout, and she is incredible! She is professional, she's helpful, she's friendly and down-to-earth, and the list goes on. There are so many details I could go into to back this up, but who really wants to read all about my perfect wedding? Instead, I will simply say again, hire Sweetchic, and prepare to enjoy your wedding day without a care in the world! read more

It was truly a remarkable 3 year experience from the "sweetest" team at Sweetchic Events! You really put a lot of trust into a wedding planner for such an important event as a wedding. Charlene and her team live up to that trust. We began with her in 2018 only to see my daughter's May 2020 wedding date change three times due to Covid. Not only did Charlene expertly navigate the re-contracting and re-booking of the myriad of vendors and venues, she graciously coordinated our July 2020 micro wedding in Lakeview. She made sure every detail from catering to personally arranging silverware sets was addressed so that I could enjoy my only daughter's wedding. My 20 something year old son summed it up best when he commented, "Charlene- wow!" Fast forward to July 2021 when at long last she helped realize our initial vision of a large reception in River North. Again, no detail was too big or too small for her or her team. Charlene's Basecamp computer system centralized ALL important details so all parties involved in planning know exactly what is going on at all times - an invaluable asset. Also be reassured that Sweetchic will return emails and texts usually within 24 hours. Charlene's consistency in that over our 3 year relationship is a true testament to her commitment to her clients, and makes her a standout. Aside from Charlene being incredibly knowledgeable, organized and detail oriented, she is genuinely kinds to work with. Several times she stepped in last minute to handle details I had undertaken at a time when I felt a bit overwhelmed. This truly made all the difference to me! My daughter would often comment, "What would we do without Charlene?" as both she and her husband remain beyond grateful for both gorgeous events Charlene produced for them, as well as for her patience and thoughtfulness throughout their long journey. The Sweetchic team is likewise stellar. Charlene's assistant Brooke attended my daughter at the vow renewal/reception where she not only kept the wedding party on track, she helped my daughter literally cool down after a warm pre-ceremony photo session. I would say Sweetchic is the ultimate blend of the professionalism you need for a seamless wedding and the warmth you want for a beautiful experience. Unlike other event planners, there is no one size fits all mentality, and they will do as much or as little needed for your special day. And while Charlene's input was invaluable, she always made it clear that the specific vision was at all times in our hands. Our family agrees - nobody does it better than Charlene and Sweetchic Events. read more

Sweetchic Events provided day-of coordination for our wedding. We actually did a lot of planning and DIY on our own, but got a day-of coordinator upon the recommendation of friends. We do not regret this decision, especially with the specific selection of Charlene and her team. Although the service is for "day-of," Charlene's package actually starts 2 months prior, which turned out to be a huge help in figuring out all the final details and logistics with each of our vendors. As organized as I might pretend to be, I didn't even realize how much I was holding my breath until after we kicked things off with Charlene! She really jumped in and confirmed everything with our vendors, and answered lots (and I mean LOTS) of our questions about everything from design to schedule to etiquette....all with endless grace, patience, and professionalism. Charlene actually couldn't work our event herself, so on the wedding day, we had Hollie and Lindsay, both of whom were very sweet. When I arrived frantically at the church with lots of stains from taking First Look pictures on the streets of Chicago, Hollie and Lindsay both got right down on the ground armed with Tide sticks and Shout wipes to clean it all up (and they got most of the dirt out!). We were ahead of schedule during our reception(!!), and Hollie did a great job managing all the vendors so that we started dinner sooner. We also had a nice surprise when Charlene showed up towards the end of the night, just to wish us congratulations and check on everything!! We couldn't have had better coordinators, and loved working with Sweetchic! read more

I was really on the fence on whether a wedding coordinator was worth the extra expense, especially once I started realizing how much weddings really do cost! After talking to friends, and meeting with Sweetchic, I decided to go for it, and it was one of the best decisions I made! We worked with Courtney, and she made us feel so comfortable and confident that all of our planning would come together for a smooth day. She came on in the last month or so of planning. She handled all of the vendor communications, supported us on our venue walk through, and kept everyone on point leading up to the wedding. On the day of, it was so nice to have someone else in charge, so I could relax and enjoy my time with family and friends. Courtney and her team kept everything running smoothly throughout the night. My wedding day was perfect, and exactly what my husband I envisioned our wedding day should be. All of our guests had a fantastic time. We could not have done it without Charlene and her team! I got engaged in Dec/Jan 2012, and wanted to get married in June 2012. Given the short engagement period, I wanted a knowledgeable planner who can take control and get things done. I got the full service package and was worth every dollar. What I love about Charlene: ....she stays true to her client's taste/vision. ....is budget conscious ....very detail oriented ....has impeccable taste Charlene booked all my appt, and went to a few on my behalf when I was busy. She steered me in the right direction when I was un-decisive. I could be sending her 10 emails a day, and she would reply every single one within an hour. On our wedding day, 2 of her assistants came to coordinate: one stayed with me and other stayed with my husband. The entire experience is 10/10 and highly recommend her and her team!! read more

When my husband and I got engaged, we originally did not want a wedding planner, thinking we could do everything on our own. My parents who live out of town convinced us it would be beneficial, and we hired Charlene. She and her team at Sweetchic Events were phenomenal in coordinating our August 31 wedding day! Charlene has a great personality and is extremely down to earth. With her, it is all about your wedding and she will do whatever possible to make your wedding day dreams come true. We attempted to be budget conscious at the beginning of our planning and Charlene was able to find us some amazing vendors. She constantly kept us on track throughout the process, which I appreciated since she could organize all our appointments, keep our vendors in line and answer my many many emails - and keep everything archived through her our specialized Sweetchic wedding site. Charlene even made some of the littlest details, like deciding on guest favors, fun! Charlene and her assistant Jessica did an awesome job on our wedding day? My husband and I and our families didn't have to worry about a thing and could enjoy the day. My mom even commented on how much fun she had, feeling like a "guest" at her daughter's wedding. "We can't say enough good things about Charlene and Sweetchic events! Starting the wedding planning process was stressful and we quickly realized we needed a planner to help us out. After doing some research and meeting with a couple folks, it became clear Sweetchic was our best option. Charlene was friendly, supportive, and laid back. She was also affordable and we could customize exactly the help we wanted from her. We were excited to have a wedding but overwhelmed by all the details and more or less completely unsure about what we wanted. Charlene made everything easier, giving us a timeline and framework to make sure everything got done. The best part about Charlene and Sweetchic events is that they totally got our vision, perhaps even before we did. Charlene got to know us well and tailored vendor options to what we were looking for. We didn't feel stressed about making decisions. Charlene gave us a perfect array of options and helped us find the best fit. She was also super helpful in vendor meetings when we didn't know what questions to ask. Charlene gave us tons of ideas but also embraced when we came up with our own way of doing something that was a little quirky. She made the weeks leading up to the wedding as stress free as possible, and her team was super supportive on the big day. It's clear she is really able to work with any couple, regardless of style or vision, and make them feel special and excited. We love Sweetchic events!" read more

Charlene did an amazing job! I couldn't be happier with my wedding planner! We had a very intimate celebration and the wedding was planned in a very short time frame. Charlene is super organized. The very next day after I signed a contract with her she sent me a list of venues which I might like, a list of photographers who can work with my budget and couple of stores in my area where I can get a wedding dress. With our daily communication it really seemed like our wedding was the only one she was planning at that moment, although she was working on couple of others at the same time. We had to make our decisions fast, but with her experience, good knowledge of vendors and understanding of what we want it was not very hard! It was fun actually! She was very involved and attentive to details. For example she didn't like restaurant's version of menu card (it was not pretty), so she created one herself which was lovely and matched our style. She also offered to write place cards herself with beautiful calligraphy! On the wedding day she was there all day with her assistant to make sure everything goes smoothly and is on schedule. And everything went perfect! I really recommend her as a great professional and a very nice person!!! read more

We worked with the Sweetchic team for "day of" coordination. Our venue (Prairie Production) was BYO everything so I knew some set-up and coordination would be helpful for the many vendors we had. My lead coordinator Kelsey totally exceeded my expectations. I'm a planner but Kelsey has me beat. Having Kelsey helping us starting three months out was wonderful and helped us worry less and truly enjoy the build up and wedding day. Her help with the design and day-of implementation of our itinerary was worth every penny and then some. Kelsey and two wonderful assistants Courtney and Brooke were the ultimate trio of boss ladies on the big day, getting everything done and making sure everyone was on time. I already miss working with these ladies. At first I thought coordination was unnecessary but now see how integral the help was to a flawless wedding day. If you are getting married do yourself a favor and invest in the peace of mind that comes with hiring these sweet chicks! read more

Charlene was wonderful. She and Hollie were fantastic to have around on the day of our wedding--she got us where we needed to be, coordinated with our photographer and other vendors seamlessly, and helped to make it a fantastic day. It was really helpful working with someone who had so much experience in wedding planning (which we, of course, did not!)--it made what would've been a set of uninformed decisions about how to do things into a much easier process. We loved working with Charlene, and I'd recommend her to anyone launching into wedding planning. read more

Kelsey and Sweet Chic were a pleasure to work with! We hired Kelsey as our "day-of coordinator" but she was so much more than that. We actually worked with her for about 3 months leading up to the wedding. She helped us get everything organized, created our day of schedule and took over everything with our other vendors. She and her her assistant took care of everything the day of and we were actually able to enjoy the evening! We would definitely recommend Kelsey to anyone and are hoping we can work with her again in the future for some non-wedding events! read more

Sweetchic Events was amazing when it came to handling our wedding. We hired Kelsey to help us with the last few months of getting everything in order which in turn let us be the bride and groom. From our first initial meeting to the conclusion of the night, Kelsey and her team were hands on and helped us make our day as magical as it could be. read more

Charlene and her team are very nice to work with. Charlene is really the definition of warmth personified. For the majority of our planning, we were able to work with Charlene directly (rather than an assistant), which we were very happy about. Since we were planning our wedding from out of town, it was very helpful to have Charlene limit the vendor selection. In many cases, she proposed 2-3 vendors within our budget that we should consider and that really cut down our time in the details and process. In the end, I would say I loved the hair/makeup vendor and liked the photographer (our photographers were exceptionally nice people but I wouldn't say the highest quality shots). We had a hiccup with the hotel blocks and I ended up spending a lot more time on verifying, confirming, changing the hotel block than I would have liked and we had a hiccup in not knowing our blocks expired! It's important to note that Charlene generously helped us offset the cost of this issue but it was an unexpected issue that took a lot of time. The wedding day-of coordinator who assisted us on the day of our wedding was wonderful. She was with us all day, super helpful, and we couldn't have asked for more, particularly as we wrapped up the night. She was running leftover beer in and out of cars, packing up our stuff and just really, really helpful all day/evening. read more

We worked with Courtney and she was worth every penny and more. We initially struggled with whether or not we wanted to spend the money for a day-of coordinator, but are SO glad we did. I don't know how we would have made it through without Courtney. She was super responsive, patient, and took the pressure off the last 2 months, right when it was really needed. If anything didn't go according to plan on the day of, we had no idea because she handled everything. Because of that, we were able to enjoy every minute of our special day. I would highly recommend SweetChic! read more

This review is long, long overdue. We got married this summer and would hire Charlene again in a second. She's the best! Seriously. My husband and I made the mistake of going with someone else first. Originally we thought we might not need that much help and decided to save a little bit of money. Big mistake! When it became clear that our planner wasn't cutting it, we immediately called Charlene, who happily still had our date available. I think what makes Charlene so invaluable is her organization. She keeps track of everything so that you don't have to. We live in NYC, so we were planning from afar. Charlene made it so easy. Any time we came to town she had appointments lined up so no time was wasted. She even was nice enough to drive us to many of them! Charlene is also great about stepping back to let you make decisions about things, but giving honest input when asked. She was so helpful when it came to making decisions about catering and florals--two areas where we were probably the most indecisive. She never pressured us, but definitely kept us moving forward. And, when at the last minute we needed live music for the ceremony, Charlene came through. I'd say week of though, is when we really felt so lucky to have Charlene. My husband and I were more concerned about getting stuff done at work and packing for our honeymoon than we were about the wedding. We didn't have to stress because we knew everything was getting done! Our wedding rehearsal went great and then day-of we didn't have to think about anything except getting ready and having fun. When we walked into the venue for the first time we were blown away--Charlene and her assistant had done a fabulous job setting up all of the extra things we'd brought with us: photos, place cards, menus, etc. In the end, our wedding was exactly what we wanted it to be, and we got to enjoy every minute of it thanks to Charlene and her team. read more

We loved working with Charlene from Sweet Chic Events, and we would not have made it through our wedding without her! She is detail-oriented, professional, and lovely to work with. From helping us organize our out-of-state wedding to managing details on the day of, she was definitely worth the investment. Charlene had many thoughtful and helpful suggestions, eased the stress of wedding planning, and we were able to enjoy the day knowing that she had everything taken care of. I would highly recommend using Sweet Chic Events. We are so glad that we did! read more

Charlene was recommended to us by a friend when we decided we needed a wedding planner less than 3 months before the big day. The whole time, from finding out how much planning was left to do to my last-minute panic attacks (too many RSVPs, last-minute hotel blocks, unpleasant vendors, and so much more), Charlene was cool as a cucumber. Her planning is incredibly detailed and organized (each couple gets a Basecamp site), she's impressively responsive (even though she's super busy), and has a great knack for understanding your wedding vision and helping you work toward it. I seriously wish I was still planning an event so I could walk around with the knowledge that Charlene has my back. I can't recommend Charlene (and Sweetchic Events) more highly!! read more

I am pretty high maintenance to say the least an a perfectionist. This meant that wedding planning was going to be a huge feat. My husband and I interviewed 20 wedding planners and got quotes from over 50 of them. Sweetchic was the clear winner. They were the most affordable while actually having beautiful non-cookie cutter weddings in their profile. Charlene (boss-lady) was the assistant for the day and was so sweet and calm the entire time. Courtney was helpful from the beginning helping us with our timeline, giving inspiration ideas, and making sure we remembered every detail. Not only was she was she a planner, she also was a therapist whenever it seemed like nothing would go right. Courtney was key to this helping us find our florist and making sure that everything tied together. She knew that we wanted a picture perfect wedding and delivered - our wedding will actually be featured in stylemepretty! read more

We hired Charlene from SweetChic Events a little over 6 months before the wedding. I was reluctant at first, mainly because I was the DIY type and wanted to do everything myself. But as time drew closer, we were behind in many things, including vendors for flowers, music, lighting, linens... I was still searching for my dress at the time. Needless to say, I was getting stressed and pressed for time, and thats when Charlene came in. She helped us in more ways than I imagined. Not only did she narrow down vendors for us, she made sure we were getting the best service for the best price. Aside from listening to us about all the crazy little details we want and at the same time, trying to incorporate it into our wedding, Charlene provided honest, down to earth advice. She kept us to our budget (which I can honestly say, I would not have been able to do on my own.) And best of all, Charlene was very understanding and she was able to work with my crazy work schedule for meetings with her and vendors. I cannot tell you how much our guests as well as my husband and I enjoyed the wedding Charlene helped put together. It was a perfectly SweetChic wedding. read more

My wedding was AMAZING and due in no small part to Courtney at Sweetchic. We had a 135 person affair at Kitchen with a mountain of decor I curated over a year and a half and she made it BEAUTIFUL. I hired SC for day-of coordination but the truth was that they stepped in well beforehand to contact vendors and work out the final details. She made great suggestions for solving capacity issues, decor dilemmas, timeline issues, etc. Courtney was a pro and calmly steered, hustled and made the day a success. Courtney's assistant even prevented mu husband's step mom from passing out during the ceremony. I had no idea when I booked whether or not I really needed the extra help, now I know I would have had a disastrous time without them. They made all the difference, the money I spent on them was the BEST money spent of the whole event. I can't honestly list all of the things they took care of to make the event great, they just did them and because of it, I enjoyed the day relatively stress free and got all the compliments from our guests. BOOK THEM. read more

Imagining what my wedding would be like was easy. As a graphic designer I knew the color palette I would use, the concept and design of all paper products, and the overall feel I wanted for my wedding, "fall elegance with a vintage charm", I called it. However, the logistics of making all of my ideas and projects come together, that seemed like an impossible feat I didn't think I could do and/or I didn't want to deal with. Not too long after becoming engaged, I started searching for wedding coordinators. I found Charlene through WeddingBee, a wedding blog I was an avid reader of. I immediately contacted her over a year before our wedding date. Even from our brief initial correspondence, I knew she was perfect! She was extremely responsive to ALL of my many questions and concerns and always made me feel like she was available at any time by email and phone. The tools, checklists and online "virtual office" she provided helped me stay organized and made me think of things that I seemed to completely overlook. Her warm personality, yet assertive professionalism made me feel overwhelmingly confident in her abilities as a complete wedding coordinator. The week of the wedding came by and she contacted me at least once a day to make sure all loose ends were tied and all final arrangements were made - she touched base with all of my vendors once again too to make sure everybody knew where and when they should be and how it should be. The day of the wedding Charlene was calm, cool, collected and on top of EVERY detail. My bridal party commented on how attentive she was to all of us, and guests commented about how smoothly the wedding day went - that was no accident - it was Charlene and her assistant, Jessica. While Charlene was perfecting the entire cocktail and reception space after the ceremony, Jessica stayed with us on the Trolley ride to pictures and make sure we were on time for everything. I swear the only thing I did that day was enjoy it.. which was exactly what I told Charlene I wanted to do on my wedding day that first time we corresponded. Sweetchic Events proved to be worth every penny and Charlene was an absolute joy to work with. If you are contemplating hiring a wedding coordinator, but think you don't need one because you already have a "wedding vision" and you can DIY everything, please reconsider. With all of my projects, no guest would have seen ANY of them if Charlene and Jessica did not set them up/ display them even better than I had imagined. If you need a complete vision, I am certain Charlene can do that better than anyone too :) Thank you Charlene and Sweetchic Events! read more
