There are not enough characters or words in the world to explain how absolutely BEYOND INCREDIBLE Sweetchic Events, specifically our wedding planner, Courtney is!!! I originally thought that I could plan a wedding on my own and just hire a day of coordinator. When I realized I just didn't have the capacity to do that, I knew I needed to hire a wedding planner. I didn't want just any wedding planner though- I wanted someone who had a similar personality to mine, who could match my energy and really elevate my ideas and execute the vision I had for our big day. My now husband and I met with several planners. I am a huge 'vibes' person, and all of the planners I met with just didn't seem like the right fit. I felt like I was just another wedding to them and didn't feel like the attention to us would be individualized or prioritized. That is, until we found and met with Courtney from Sweetchic Events!! From the very start, it felt like I was catching up with an old friend. Courtney is so kind, super knowledgeable in what she does, and is honestly one of the coolest people I have ever met. At our initial meeting, we joked and laughed as my husband and I shared our ideas, and she immediately had some incredible ones of her own! She constantly checked in, listened to my crazy ideas while keeping me grounded, connected us with some of the absolute BEST vendors, reminded us of due dates and deadlines, and made sure that both my husband and I were feeling good throughout the whole process. On my wedding day I was jumping out of my skin because I was so ready to see Courtney and watch the magic we created together unfold! She of course brought such calm, positive vibes and joined in my excitement for the day that was to come!! I had been so impressed with her and her work thus far that I didn't think it could possibly get any better. When I tell you she CRUSHED the entire day, she honestly CRUSHED IT!!! From the second she walked in the door to the second she (sadly, haha) left, she was a well oiled machine. Literally. A machine! She never stopped- she was so prepared, like a level of preparedness I'd never witnessed in anyone and I was really just completely blown away by her and her assistant, Mia throughout the entire day! Everything was ACTUALLY PERFECT (from my eyes and that's why she is so good at what she does) because I never knew about any little mishaps or minor issues, because there weren't any by the time Courtney arrived to the scene! Mia was also SO great!! She was always there when I needed something, and was also such a calming presence for me which was so appreciated! One of the most memorable parts of the day was my entrance to walk down the aisle. I had chosen a Taylor Swift orchestral mash-up and wanted to enter at a VERY specific time. Courtney had already explained to me that timing these things can be very very difficult, and that it might not happen at the exact moment I wanted it to. I went forward with the plan because in my mind, I had no doubts- I knew she would do whatever she possibly could to make it happen and that it would look amazing regardless. Times like these are the reason why we leave things up to Courtney, because it was literally SPOT ON!! It was so incredible! I am still getting text messages from friends about how awesome the timing of the entrance was! It is a feeling I will never forget and I owe it all to Courtney. I honestly didn't want the day to end, and Sweetchic Events made it all possible!! It truly says something that I was always SO excited to see Courtney. Planning meeting days, tastings and walk throughs were always something I looked forward to because I got to spend more time with her! I feel like it is rare to find someone like Courtney not just in the wedding industry but just in life in general. As a guest at a wedding coordinated by Courtney of Sweet Chic, I was surprised by the level of unprofessionalism I witnessed throughout the event. The coordinator came across as condescending and dismissive when interacting with both guests and vendors. Rather than helping create a welcoming and organized atmosphere, her attitude often felt rude and unnecessarily abrasive. There also appeared to be significant communication issues with vendors. Several moments throughout the day seemed disorganized, and it was evident that vendors were not always clear on their specific responsibilities. This led to confusion and delays that could have easily been avoided with proper coordination. Courtney's response when asked for clarification of duties was " It was not her job." And "I have a contract in writing if you need to see it." Perhaps most concerning was that the Courtney left the event before the evening was over, leaving others to manage issues that arose later in the celebration. For a service that is meant to ensure a seamless experience from start to finish, this was disappointing to witness. The guests were left helping the vendors clean up the event so that the happy couple could enjoy their evening. The bride and groom deserved a coordinator who would help make their special day stress-free and enjoyable. A few of examples from our experience : during the tasting she came up with a perfect way for us all to choose appetizers, mains, salads, wines showing us a rating system, reminding us about guests preferences and the need for variety. She gave feedback on everything from the centerpieces, to the tablescape; all while encouraging us to choose what WE loved. After I fell in love with very expensive crystal chargers, she helped us find a new option that the catering team could use as our "free upgrade." The crystal water glasses were even better than those charges as they added an element that was on the table for the entirety of the dinner! She made sure the vendors were completely upfront on any extra charges and ensured we were getting the best options. She assisted in negotiating an earlier / extended getting ready time in the bridal suite, coordinating all of our beauty team and schedules perfectly. She helped us navigate changes in the ceremony flow, including the procession order given my husband's blended family. When we realized the guest count was above what we estimated, she helped us find ways to cut costs. She explained that a large sign would be expensive, and hard for guests to navigate. Instead she suggested a site to buy escort cards and had the genius idea to put couples on the same card - which not only brought costs down, but reduced guests' confusion and made room for more decor. She ran the rehearsal seamlessly, passing out pocket sized schedules for the bridal party and family, reminding everyone of their positions, etc. When my husband an I were taking a while to get out of the venue at the end of the night, we were pretty sure the bus would leave without us. We used Sweetchic Events to plan our recent wedding in Chicago on the recommendation of a friend and were lucky to have Charlene Liang as our planner. Charlene is a consummate professional and absolute master of her craft. We learned in working with her that she has decades of experience in the hospitality industry and wedding planning - it shows! She is prepared, direct, smart, and patient - perfect qualities in a planner. We had a winter wedding in the city, and it was very important for us that our guests did not have to deal with Chicago weather, that we had plans in place to be able to take photos, etc. Charlene found a venue - the Sofitel Hotel - only a few blocks from the church that checked every box and was under budget. She was able to negotiate discounts on our behalf and asked for things we would never have considered but made all the difference for the wedding. We had a short (8-month) engagement and brought in Charlene only 7 months before the event. We also had quite a few hurdles to jump through with having a Catholic ceremony and had to work with a contingency plan for our ceremony cite up until a month before the wedding. Charlene handled everything perfectly and always made us feel like everything would work out - and it did! Every vendor she connected us with was exactly within our budget and was all-around excellent. Our DJ (Amplified Events), Florist (Flor del Monte), and photographers (Studio Finch) had worked with Charlene before, and it made everything so seamless on the day-of. We had to make a last-minute change to the hair stylist two weeks before the wedding and she made something that should have been stressful into a smooth process. She helped us translate a Pinterest board with a few photos into the most beautiful floral arrangements and exactly the timeless, classic look we were going for. From recommending how to tweak our dinner dishes to making detailed day-of timelines - including pocket itineraries for our whole wedding party - and communicating with all our vendors, she was an invaluable part of making our day possible. Sweetchic was the ideal planning firm to help us execute a wedding day that was as enjoyable and stress free as possible. The firm seemed well run overall, but we especially connected with our planner, Kelsey. I spoke with about six potential day-of wedding coordinators before meeting with Courtney from Sweetchic. I was so impressed and knew we would get along great -- I put a deposit down on the spot to reserve our date. We just got married in November and wholeheartedly recommend Charlene and her team to any couple looking to have the wedding of their dreams. We did and it was, in large, part due to Charlene. One quoted me a price that nearly made me spit out my coffee, another told me that I absolutely could not have a wedding in Chicago with our estimated number of guests for our budget, and another didn't even return my phone call. My husband and I have demanding jobs so when we decided we wanted a wedding for 120 guests, our first choice was Sweetchic and Charlene. We could not have done it without her. She is organized, experienced, thorough, and patient, the entire process was easy and enjoyable for us. She even helped us through ideas we had not even flushed out or thought about before. Hollywood Glam Wedding! After countless search for a wedding planner we came across Sweetchic Events. Our first meeting was with Charlene from Sweetchic Events. When we first met her, we couldn't help but to notice how professional, organized and attentive she was during our meeting. After we left her office on our first consultation, her price was very affordable, and we decided to book her. I have to say she's a joy to work with! We met with Charlene about 14 months prior to our wedding date, and she completely understood the vision that we had wanted for our wedding. I had originally met Charlene with Sweetchic Events 6 years prior, as my sister's wedding planner in the city of Chicago. She obviously had done such an amazing job on my sister's wedding, that there was no question who we were going to turn to for my own wedding. She had carried out my sister's vision so well for her own wedding, that I also knew she would understand my vision (though it would be completely and totally different). Charlene was extremely responsive to every comment, question, concern, and request that we had. No matter what day of the week, or time of day, she was always quick to respond to us and never left us feeling unheard or in the dark. She understood what parts of the wedding day and weekend were most important to not only us, but to both of our parents as well, making sure she would help us choose vendors that we felt comfortable with, both style-wise and price-wise. She could not have found a more perfect wedding venue, as well as the most amazing live band, and not to mention the florist we chose, providing the most beautiful flowers I had ever seen. Charlene will always hold a special place in our family. She completely took care of all the things that make wedding planning sometimes so stressful and overwhelming. I never felt like I was behind in planning anything, never felt rushed to get things taken care of, and never felt overwhelmed and unable to deal. My wife and I hired Charlene as our wedding planner in 2019 and it was the best decision we made. There are so many reasons why Charlene is the perfect wedding planner but here are our highlights: - She is incredibly kind, patient, understanding, and calming. When wedding planning becomes crazy, she is at her calmest. Nothing fazes her and she never adds any stress to our plates. Some examples, a guest unexpectedly brought their child to our reception and she created a last minute name card, got a meal, etc without even letting us know. Or my family is always late to things but she never made any part of our day feel rushed. The process was so streamlined and we were just able to enjoy our reception because of Charlene. - My wife and I felt like we could trust her completely. And this is with vendor selection, hotel selection, proofreading contracts, etc. - Exceptionally professional and respectful with both of our families - She helped us navigate all the ups and downs of the COVID pandemic with ease. For example, at one point both our reception venue and sangeet venue cancelled our contracts so we had no major venues. She helped us find a great venue last minute and helped us navigate the uncertainty of the Palmer House closing and reopening. She kept tabs of all contracts and cancellation fees. When we needed to move our date 2-3 times, she coordinated with all vendors to ensure a seamless transition. - She has experience with multicultural weddings and helped us create a two part celebration - a sangeet on Friday at the Palmer House and a more typical Western reception on Saturday. She was knowledgeable of Indian culture and traditions and was eager to learn things that she maybe didn't know initially. She helped us plan two amazing events and we had the weekend of our lives. - Very fast, kind, and considerate with communication, answering questions, providing opinions when asked on things like invitations, table cards, contracts, navigating tricky relationships with others, etc. I am sure there are a million other examples that I am forgetting, but, to summarize, she is a wonderful person and an amazing planner. Working with Sweetchic and Charlene was integral to bringing our wedding vision to life. Charlene is incredibly organized, proactive, and cool and collected at all times. We never once found ourselves worrying about something she was overseeing being subpar or falling through the cracks. And we weren't exactly working under the easiest of circumstances -- we hired her around the start of the pandemic planning for a 2021 wedding which we later had to push back to 2022 including most of the vendor contracts, and our wedding was a complex, modernized Indian fusion ceremony and reception in an uncommon venue (Union Station). The best decision we made for our wedding was hiring Kelsey as our planner. It was summer 2020 and our wedding was in one year- and we knew we needed support around choosing vendors (especially in the context of COVID) and creating a cohesive wedding vision. We decided to go with custom/partial planning to get this extra support as well as day of coordination, and we started working with Kelsey immediately. She was essential in helping us navigate all the options when it came to floral, lighting, decor, hotels, and transportation. She was always quick to respond to any question we had, and has a knowledge of the business and systems that proved to be invaluable. Kelsey was open and flexible to our unique style, and we never felt like she was intense or pushing us to do one thing or another (something we were a little worried about before we picked a planner!). She really made us comfortable and made it clear that she was there to support and execute the vision we had for our wedding. Kelsey was also very communicative about her knowledge of the fluid COVID restrictions, and grounded us when we were feeling stressed that we might only be able to have 50 people at our wedding. The wedding day turned out totally beautiful and exactly what we wanted, entirely due to Kelsey's ability to stay organized and on top of various snags. The transportation company we had hired told her the day before the wedding that they did not have enough buses to transport our guests from the hotel to the venue. Kelsey handled this challenge with ease- alerting us to the situation while also fixing it by finding another bus company with less than 24 hours notice! She also spent a long time ensuring that the original bus company refunded us for the service they weren't providing. We truly cannot imagine how this would have played out if we had not had Kelsey by our side-- it would have led to so much stress for us. We live in New York City and got married in Chicago and from the start she made everything so easy and fun for us, even though we weren't in the same state. Our day-of coordination could not have been better!! Charlene and her assistant Holly were my saving graces through the last weeks up to the wedding night. They arrived at our hotel, started coordinating pictures, flowers, telling me where to go and what to do and I felt awesome having 1,000 less things to worry about. They set up our ceremony site, told us when to walk down the aisle, coordinated music fading, talking to the venue, asking questions, reminding us to speak, thank people, visit, etc. Really, truly amazing service. Charlene even fixed my dress TWICE when the super thin, lacy straps broke!! She was prepared with safety pins immediately and affixed those flimsy straps right back to the front. Charlene knows what she is doing, she has a ton of suggestions for party ideas, favors, centerpieces, etc. and she even volunteered to buy a bunch of new stuff for a totally new centerpiece idea when we had a cake pop disaster. Charlene knew how to put me and my wedding party at ease throughout the entire day. It was really nice to just have time to sit around with our hair and makeup done and drink and not have to worry about anything since it was all being taken care of. She called our hotel when our shuttle never arrived to get people, she made sure that we had a ride back to the hotel at the end of the night and she exited gracefully. I cannot recommend a wedding planner enough. The day of coordination is perfect and totally worth the price. You don't even realize how much you'd have to worry about if you didn't have a planner reminding you about it. I could not have had such a perfect wedding without Charlene. Truly the best. read more

Thanks to Sweetchic Events, Inc my wedding was everything I hoped for and more. I worked specifically with Charlene and she was absolutely amazing. In the planning stage, Charlene helped me generate ideas for ways to save money while still making the event special and unique. For example, she gave me the idea to use lanterns with candles on the tables and wild flowers to fit with my casual summer feel while still keeping the floral costs down. I was extremely impressed by Charlene's responsiveness to email/phone calls and also her creativity. As the wedding date approached, Charlene helped us keep all of the details together by coordinating the vendors, joining conference calls with our venue representative, and sending lists with reminders. For both our rehearsal dinner and wedding, Charlene was able to wrangle in a very large bridal party and an unruly family to make everything run smoothly. During the reception, someone stepped on the train of my dress and Charlene was right there with safety pins in hand making sure I didn't miss a second of the action. Perhaps most importantly, Charlene made me feel completely at ease on my wedding day. I was probably the most relaxed and laid-back bride you've ever seen on her wedding day. The reason I was so relaxed on our big day was due to the fact that I knew we were in good hands thanks to Charlene and her team at Sweetchic Events. Charlene definitely knows her stuff. Charlene and the sweetchic team made my wedding day SO perfect!! We got married labor day weekend, and there are no words to describe how calm, comfortable, and happy I felt on the big day because of them. We were in phenomenal hands from start to finish. The BEST decision we made in this whole wedding process was to hire Charlene. Our wedding was in Chicago, my husband lives in DC, and I live in Boston... so you can imagine the logistical mess that things could have been. But alas, Charlene took care of everything! It was a BREEZE to send her all the necessary things, and magically they appeared on wedding day exactly where everything was supposed to be and in perfect condition. I also made some special requests of Charlene that she was more than gracious to accept. ;) Charlene's incredibly detailed wedding-day itinerary is a beauty in and of itself. I loved it! Our wedding also happened to be on a HUGE concert day... the concert took place right near our venue. Again, this could have been a nightmare, but Charlene and her team really took ownership of figuring out how to navigate the situation, without once making me concerned! Charlene reached out to all my vendors and thoroughly explained everything. She has a wealth of knowledge re: great vendors, and can make your decision-making process incredibly efficient! In fact, at the end of the night, her team suggested extra shuttles to take care of our guests, and magically the shuttles appeared without a hitch. On the fly, yet so seamless! At the end of the night and the days following, multiple guests exclaimed how beautiful our wedding was, and explicitly said, "This was the MOST ORGANIZED wedding we've ever been to!"
