Funfetti cake and free sample choco chip cookie
    Vanessa Z.

Wanted to try this place since January when their cinnamon roll rosca de reyes went viral. 8 months later, here I am. I purchased a cinnamon roll, a slice of funfetti bundt cake, and a mini cookie croissant. The funfetti cake was dry. There was a liquid pooling at the bottom of the container also. Simple syrup I'm assuming. The frosting was good though. The croissant was hard. Not sure if maybe it had been refrigerated prior. I placed in microwave for 10 seconds and then it was bomb! Cinnamon roll is where it's at. Was perfect as is. The place had seating and was very clean. The young man behind the counter gave me a chocolate chip cookie as soon as I approached the counter. Said it was a sample. It was a basic looking thin cookie. Did not look promising but it was delicious! Very soft and packed with chocolate chips. Brown butter base I'm sure. Wish I got the young man's name. He was very friendly. He came back from around the counter and helped me carry my items to the cashier register, which I had not noticed was behind me.

Walked in for work reasons, was given a chocolate chip cookie upon arrival, purchased the banana pudding to-go, ate banana pudding in my truck and immediately was a fan! The banana pudding alone, slaps. Aside from that, the storefront is clean, inviting, filled with pretty packages of baked goods and the employees are serving happiness, joy and just positive vibes. I left and one of the employees said, "Have a sweet day!" BRANDING! Love it here! I would come here and pick-up banana pudding as a sweet treat for people I really like/love. Of course, I will be back to try more, but for now, I will testify that the banana pudding is worth stopping in and trying and also a nice gift for a friend or relative!

The desserts are tasty and fresh! It was my first time stopping by and I'll be back. The staff gave me a sample and talked about the most popular items. I decided on the maple butter cream cake and a cinnamon roll. I took the cake to an event and the ladies loved it. They have a clean and modern style inside. Super cute decor and there are even tables if you want to chill there

Picked up a TGTG order and also bought a cinnamon roll to try. Their cinnamon rolls have some of the best soft texture I've ever had from store bought! The icing is sweet but has a good cream cheesy flavor to it. The girls working there are friendly and they have so many options in the cold case. Puddings, cakes etc. they also offered a cookie sample which was nice of them. Pricing is also fair, plenty of parking in the lot.

Walk in and they greet you with a bright smile & free chocolate chip cookie? Classy! It's a small and comfy place to grab a sweet snack and a coffee. You can buy a slice of cake or a whole cake as we did. Thanks Sweet Valentine for making our family birthday celebration special

Run... don't walk... to this bakery if you need some sweet treats! First of all, they hand you a free cookie when you walk in... who else does that? NO ONE! I hope they don't mind me saying that. lol The cookie was delicious... I knew we were off to a good start! My mom loves coconut cake. So of course, I turned to Yelp to find the best one for her birthday. Sweet Valentine got me with the "southern coconut." The reason this is my mom's favorite is because my grandmother always made it for holidays when she was a little girl. When I told them it was for her birthday, they decorated it with cute flowers and a little Happy Birthday sign. I was hoping my mom would like the cake. I quote, "I suspect that they went to my mother's kitchen and stole her recipe. I feel like I'm 6-years old again." That is the highest compliment you can give because my grandmother was an AMAZING cook! When I looked at other bakeries, they wanted at least $75 for a cake. This one was less than $50. An incredible value, especially considering how delicious it was! I went back today to get a red velvet cake for my son's birthday. I can't wait to see his reaction. I know he will love it. Please support this business! The shop is really cute and super clean. Everything is on display beautifully. The prices are BEYOND reasonable. The owner, Matthew Valentine, and his staff are really friendly! But most important, the sweet treats are really AMAZING!!

Yummmmmmmy!! This banana pudding is delicious 100% recommend!! The staff is really sweet and kind!!

I'm definitely coming back to try these
    Genie L.

Sweet Valentine Bakery is the sweetest! The owner and baker, Matthew Valentine is so nice and has a really cool story. His first inspiration into the culinary and baking world stems from a southern cookbook his grandmother gave him as a child. Sweet Valentine started in Matthews's garage in 2020, and became a brick and mortar a year ago. The bakery smells so good, upon entering, with nice and bright decor. I was greeted by Cathy from behind the counter and she was just sweetest too. Both Matthew and Cathy helped me choose their best-selling and favorites since it was my first time there. I was picking up an assortment of treats to bring into my office for an event. The banana pudding was phenomenal. The book it to me cake was amazing. The brown butter pound cake was delicious. All of the cookies were a huge hit. I was hoping to take some leftover treats home, but there was nothing left. My colleagues devoured it all! I'm definitely coming back to Sweet Valentine Bakery for all of the above plus the fresh baked cinnamon rolls that were calling me my name and to try their coffee too!

Original and Nutella banana pudding. To die for!

Holy smokes this place is good! I went in today with the goal of getting some banana pudding. The store is locate in a small shopping center with a DD's discounts and next to a Subway. There's lots of parking so no worries there. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and offered a cookie "sample" that was delicious. I put quotes around sample as it was a normal sized cookie. There was a variety of pastries and sweets from cookies to croissants, cobbler, and of course banana pudding. I got two of the original flavor and one Nutella flavor. There was also a Biscoff flavor that's a must try for next time. Both the original and Nutella flavors were absolutely dreamy! Creamy and just the perfect amount of banana flavor. I honestly didn't know what to expect since I've only had homemade before but it was excellent. I'm so happy to have such a high quality sweets shop so close to me.

    Coconut cake and peach lemonade

First, I want to say that I love the treats here especially the banana pudding. I've been coming for almost three years and have always had a good experience up until recently. The last two visits within the past month have been disappointing due to customer service. There's an older woman who has helped me both times. On one visit with my husband, I asked if the $2 lemonade deal was still available, and she ignored my question and rolled her eyes. Then today, when I came with my mom, she asked, "How many lemonades do you want?" in a rude tone and again rolled her eyes. I truly enjoy supporting this business, but these interactions make it uncomfortable to return. I hope customer service can improve, because the quality of the treats deserves a better experience. Banana pudding 10/10 ALWAYS Lemonade 10/10 Coconut cake was definitely a solid 9

This spot can be a little hard to find if you're not already looking for it--you could easily drive past without noticing--but once you're inside, it's absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is warm and homely, and the staff is genuinely friendly. They offer a great variety of pastries, and everything we tried was delicious. The standout for us was the banana pudding, but all the pastries we sampled were tasty and well-made. I'll definitely be returning to try more of their menu. Highly recommend giving this place a visit if you're in the area.

Parking was easy, and when we walked in, there was only one occupied table. Three employees were chatting in the back. We were greeted, but it felt more like, "What would you like?" than "Welcome in." No smile, no conversation, no thank you--just a transaction. After taking our order, the employee returned to chatting with coworkers. When our order was ready, our name was called, the halo-halo was placed on the counter, and that was the end of the interaction. As for the halo-halo itself, my partner rated it a 2/10. It was overwhelmingly sweet and overpriced for what we received. We were hoping for layers of flavor and nostalgia but got a sugar rush that could probably power a small city. As a business owner myself, I understand that customer service is one of the biggest drivers of customer retention. Great products can bring people in once, but great service brings them back. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on both. The good news? These issues are fixable. A little more warmth, engagement, and hospitality would go a long way. Until then, we'll continue our search for our next favorite halo-halo spot.

Now for why I just wasn't so excited about it all. I talked about flavor. It's lacking. It tasted very milky and washed out and I really had to concentrate on exactly what flavor I was supposed to be tasting. We got three diff flavors. Regular vanilla bean, ny cherry, and halo halo. Another thing lacking was service. She was nice. But didn't seem excited to be there. And it didn't make me excited to be there. What killed it for us was the location as a whole. It comes off as a nice outdoor space. But no one cares about you. Honestly, all three times I've been to this location for different venues, I've had very rude encounters. No other place have I been to that's been this consistent with people who just don't care. So I guess my take away is - the place is fine. It'll hit the spot for ice cream. But take it and leave. They have so many cool venues around like hiro nori, nook, spam masubi... it's a shame that people around are so much about themselves.

As you dig into the fluffy shaved ice, you're rewarded with surprise chunks of chewy mochi hidden throughout, and I believe there were even more red beans waiting at the bottom. The boba shop is located on the northwest corner next to Dentist of Old Torrance with plenty of parking. The shop's dining space is mostly of 2-tops that can be adjusted to seat larger groups, with a unisex restroom is in the back. There's a corner to the right of the entrance with a Boba Bunny neon sign & powder blue scooter that's great for taking pics! I first learned of the shop via Toast last year when they offer a $2.00 birthday treat. My son has tried most of the local boba shops so I wanted to see how this ranks on his list. The menu is pretty extensive for its size with: fresh fruit teas, blended fruit/smoothies, fruit yogurt, fruit mocktails, premium milk teas, pure teas, cheesy bunny teas, tea lattes, ice milks, coffees, toppings ice creams, build your own (bubble) waffle, bubble waffle combo, churros, shaved ice, hot sandwiches/paninis, toasts, croissants, rice bowls, salads, munchies, add-ones... whew! There's also collectible boba bear bottles that's refillable; I don't think the refillable bottle is more than their large drinks unlike some other shops with refill options. Stopping by on a late Saturday morning, it was quiet. It took a few minutes to peruse their menu & I had a few questions since the electronic menu & kiosk didn't have a description of the ingredients. I ordered Lychee Berry with Crystal Boba, & M picked a large Strawberry Mochi Shaved Ice. It took a few minutes before my order was ready. I liked the Lychee Berry... it has a floral & sweet tart taste from the lychees & strawberries, with a moderate serving of crystal boba. The shaved ice was definitely IG-worthy! It's piled high with ice fluff & topped with fresh strawberries, mochis, & a strawberry bunny jello; their house special strawberry purée, a bit too sweet for my liking, is set aside to prevent diluting the shaved ice. The mochi is colored, but it doesn't taste flavored or fresh (in-house) made; fresh as in chewy & pillowy like a marshmallow. The jiggly bunny makes a fun pic (see videos)! M thought it was funny to tap its behind, & we had it angled so that it looks like it's eating a pink mochi. Hehehe... While it's creative to a certain extent & tasty, the menu is on the expensive side for the serving size. Service was positive since we were the only customers, though slow due to the order execution process. Alas, the location is not quite marketable even though there's high traffic from Ralph's. It's the same owner, rebranding the Boba Bunny to Phin Coffee a couple of months ago after 2 years as a boba shop, which makes sense since there was a special run 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a 20% discount on coffee & matcha before the transition.

On top of that, the taiyaki we ordered didn't arrive until about 30 minutes later, so we no longer had time to enjoy it at the restaurant and had to take it to-go. When we politely brought up the taste of the bingsu with an employee (a young man with glasses and shoulder-length hair), he became defensive, spoke to us rudely, and walked away in the middle of the conversation before we could finish explaining the issue. At that point, we weren't even complaining about the delayed taiyaki. We simply wanted to let them know something seemed wrong with the dessert. We did eventually receive an apology for the delayed taiyaki, but only after we asked about the reason for the delay. The employee explained that he had mixed up our order with another table. I've supported Okrumong for years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Everyone makes mistakes, and a delayed order or a food quality issue can happen. What really stood out was how the situation was handled. I hope the management takes customer service more seriously, because this visit was far below the standard I've come to expect from Okrumong.

What I also love about this is that it isn't sweet like typical dairy icecream but just sweet enough like the true gelatos you have in Italy. You must at least try this with the waffle bowl - it was quite the delight. The portion is big and you'll be surprisingly full. The special (3 flavors) is best for 2-3 people (regular serving). If you're going to eat this by yourself I'd just get 1 serving or the gelato cup. Restroom? No Seating? No

Tried Moom Maam at Smorgasburg Los Angeles at ROW DTLA, the big Sunday pop-up food event downtown…read more The event itself was pretty cool, although a few of the vendors I was hoping to try apparently didn't show up that day. Luckily this was one of the stands that had good reviews, so I gave it a shot. Between the language barrier and my excitement for dessert, I somehow ended up ordering more than I planned. The ice cream was good and the Asian-inspired flavors were definitely different from the usual. It didn't completely blow my socks off, but it was a solid treat. I kept thinking a little syrup or extra topping would've taken it up another level. Overall, glad I tried it. Half the fun of these food events is randomly discovering stuff you normally wouldn't eat anyway. I'd probably check out their Torrance brick-and-mortar location sometime and give them another shot.

They encourage you to order ahead, and their website is straightforward and easy to use. You don't have to order ahead, but know they might sell out of your pie. First visit was to sample pies for a birthday celebration. I got the marionberry, salted caramel (GF) and raspberry dream. On the second trip for the actual birthday pie, I picked the salted caramel b/c the group is a chocolate crowd. Third time, just wanted pie! Also sampled the cutie pies in the jar... I don't think the mini pie made it home lol. Today (#4 visit) I was craving the raspberry dream and wanted to try the apple pie. My current ranking of pie I've tried is: 1. Raspberry dream, 2. salted caramel, 3. White chocolate raspberry (cutie pie), 4. marionberry (nicely tart, full of berries but a bit dry, went well with ice cream), 5. whiskey peach (too much crust, not enough peach, not very peachy). The shop has some seating but I only saw one group seated once. I always took my pies home to enjoy. There is plenty of street parking (metered, 15 min free), and here is a parking structure around the back of the block (2 hours free).

Chestnut fuji mountain is simple, nutty, and perfectly sweet. The chestnut flavor is highlighted with the plain vanilla with nice texture coming from something that tasted like Cheerios or something similar to it. Kyoto chestnuts are a must, I can eat them any time and enjoy it. Best when warm/hot. Perfect and no notes.

Tried the Mont Blanc, chestnut cookie, chestnut donut, and chestnut wheel cake…read more Ordered online for pickup. The online ordering said 30 mins but it was ready way before that. Mont Blanc- honestly the only thing that was actually worth getting out of everything I tried. For $10 it's a bit pricey for the quality. I do know it's a lengthy process to make, but it's not even fresh. Upon opening the lid, there were some ice shards on the side of my cup. The chestnut part of it was extremely delicious but the cheesecake on the bottom was so stale and dry. Chestnut cookie - so small. Only contained a few pieces of chestnut. The cookie is dry. Chestnut donut- this is literally a cake version of the cookie. To my disappointment, this was not fresh. It was cold- like refrigerated cold. So dry and stale. Chestnut wheel cake- this was warm but the cake part of it is also soooo dry. Overall the chestnuts are delicious but the execution of the items is so poor. I was very disappointed because I loved the chestnuts. Maybe next time I will just get the roasted chestnuts.
