Prosciutto croissant and lavender matcha latte
Rain M.

The scones and croissants are amazing! Such a special little hidden gem of a bakery. I wanted to try everything! Coffee was so-so but the lavender matcha latte was great!

What sold me on Sweet Pea Bakery in Arroyo Grande is its variety of flavors with offerings that change daily and the option for regular and mini sized cupcakes so you can try different flavors. I figured four regulars which actually aren't that big and 2 minis to share over 2 days would be perfect. As soon as I had my first bite of the raspberry champagne, I regretted not getting more especially since they were closed the rest of our stay. Whereas most cupcake frostings are so sweet, I wipe off 3/4 of it before eating, these had the perfect sweetness not to overpower the flavor it gives the base. First choice of Raspberry champagne that thankfully I got 2 so I didn't have to share, with salted caramel a close second, peanut butter chocolate and mini cookies and cream tied, and a pass on the mini lemon in the future. Went back twice 3 months later for champagne strawberry, more salted caramel, and peanut butter chocolate and discovered another favorite, the s'mores that I had to get another the next day. Two months later, a full dozen including 4 raspberry champagne, 6 s'mores, 1 salted caramel, and 1 chocolate strawberry to bring back. Yep, I'm a fan. Note: Champagne ones are only available about once every 3-4 weeks unless someone special orders and they make extras.

We stopped by to pick up some macarons but unfortunately they didn't have time to make any that day (before Easter). I ended up picking up some mini cupcakes instead. We got a regular size lemon, 2 mini red velvets and 2 salted caramel. The mini cupcakes were tasty little bites and we enjoyed them. The lemon was dense, more cornbread like but had great lemon flavor with lemon curd. Overall delicious treats.

Mixed Berry Scone - very dry.

The workers behind the counter are very nice and seem happy. The quick walk in and go is convenient. If you have been here before be aware that even though the pastry is good it has lost its freshness that it had a year ago and more. The fairy buns have lost a lot of their flavor. The scones have become even more dry. It'd be nice for them to rehire whoever they have lost that resulted in the reduction of quality.

Salted Caramel, chocolate and a GF scone and cookie. Looks yummy!

Tuesday is Gluten Free Day. Missed it, but they had some GF treats. The staff was friendly and the ship smelled like haven't. A great place to go while your waiting for your car at the car wash. Everything in the store looked well taken care of and replenished quickly. You can call in for orders. I would give more stars but have to taste the amazing creations first.

Omg as soon as I walked in, I was in heaven. Cute little shop, and the employees were busy making fresh baked goods as I looked around. There was such a variety of options. I didn't know where to start. But I soon recovered. Hehe .. There was biscotti, brownies, cupcakes, cookies, and scones. They also have coffee and tea drinks available to order. I chose a brownie and an almond and maple biscotti, salted caramel mini cupcake, red velvet mini cupcake, mixed berry scone, as well as a chocolate chip cookie. I would've probably ordered more but it was only for me so I could only get what I knew I would eat. (No i didn't eat all in one day!) the cupcakes were delicious - just the right amount and super moist. The almond biscotti was very good. And the mixed berry scone was heavenly. The brownie was delicious! the cookie was just OK. It wasn't my favorite. I couldn't put my finger on what it was that was missing. I'd definitely go back next time I'm visiting the area! Wonderful bakery.

I love love love this little bakery. The cupcakes here are delicious, the icing is sooo buttery and thick, the cake is moist and perfect. The decor is simple and sweet with a European vibe. There's a few bakeries in town but based on the cupcakes alone, this one is definitely my favorite!

Half of my little one's flakey, buttery breakfast croissant, which he gave me a moment to photograph, before devouring the remainder of it.

There are few things more blissful than the aroma of a fine bakery. Sweet Pea is a tiny but renowned little bake shop offering an exquisite array of breakfast, chocolate and fruit-filled croissants, cupcakes, squares, cookies and other delicacies. A few, but not many, gluten-free options are offered as well, so those with sensitivities don't have to feel deprived. This sweet little shop is a locals' favorite, so come early for the best selection. Last visit we arrived at 9:30 on a Friday morning - it was already quietly milling with with eager customers, and their delicious pastries were flying off the shelves.

So many different sweet and savory treats. I never remember what I order, only if I like it. I did.

Ask the Community - Sweet Pea Bakery

Do you have any vegan pastries/cakes/goodies?

Do you make wedding cakes?

Hi Jenny! Unfortunately we don’t make any full-sized cakes, including wedding cakes, just cupcakes. We do have a lot of customers order cupcakes and/or cookies for their wedding from us. Thanks for thinking of us!

Gluten free bakery?

We are not a gluten-free facility. We keep utensils and surfaces clean between gf and regular items, but as we bake with regular flour for most of our items it stays in the air, so I would not recommend our products if you are celiac. Although we do…

Are cake flavors the same as cupcakes? What types of butter creams and frostings do you offer? Thanks

We don’t make full-sized cakes here, just cupcakes at the moment. We have a variety of buttercreams including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, espresso, peanut butter, and salted caramel. We also have cream cheese frostings that we use to…

Do you ship orders to Southern California?

Sorry! As of yet, we do not ship.

Yikes. My mom drove up to Pismo Beach to spend time with some family members. She brought me back…read moretwo cupcakes from The Art of Cupcakes. What should be considered a treat turned out to be a punishment. I got a cherry vanilla cupcake and their version of a DingDong, though it was still a cupcake, so they don't know what they're talking about. The cherry one was the worst. It came topped with a maraschino cherry. The frosting was so artificial that it tasted almost spicy. I didn't even taste the vanilla cupcake because I was so put off by it. Next was the Ding Dong (which was still a cupcake). The chocolate ganache tasted alright. The chocolate cupcake underneath was moist but lacked flavor. To be honest, it tasted like a box mix. The whipped cream filling was skimpy and it had a weird cream cheese flavor even though it had the consistency of whipped cream.

The Chocolate Port cupcake featuring a dessert wine from Morovino Winery in Avila was FAB. But I think the best of all really has to be the Apple Pie a la Mode cupcake. Sweet, but not too sweet. Perfect creamy frosting with little bits of spiced apple. My sister disagrees and votes for the Olallaberrie Cupcake she had at the Avila Farmer's Market this past summer. And, of course, my husband voted for the Ding Dong cupcake. I guess Art of Cupcakes really just can't make a bad cupcake. And I just saw their Tinkerbell cupcake on Facebook. While they may be designed for kids, I'm going to get them for my upcoming Girls Night Out birthday party!

A Sweet Experience…read more.. My wife had a milestone birthday approaching and I wanted to get a special cake for her party with friends and family. After reading lots of reviews on Yelp, I called Pam at PK's Cakes. We were not disappointed. Ratings: - Overall: 5 - Ease of Ordering: 5 - Cake Selection: 5 - Customization: 5 - Day of Pick-Up: 5 - Crowd Reaction: 5 - Price: 4 - Value: 5 - Ease of Ordering: Simple. I called Pam, explained the situation and what my wife liked. Pam asked several follow-up questions before we settled on ingredients, appearance and arrangements to get the cake at her house in Arroyo Grande (closer to Cypress Ridge than the village part of AG). She bakes everything in her kitchen. - Cake Selection: Huge. Pam is a cake artist so the choice is basically limited by your imagination and her suggestions. - Customization: Almost anything. We got a 7 inch round layer cake meant to serve 15 people. My wife called it "an artistic version of strawberry shortcake" which is just what she wanted. The top had a yellow rose with sage green leaves and baby's breath sugar flowers. Since her main hobby is ceramics, Pam suggested adding 2 sculpted pots on the side (check out the photo). - Day of Pick-Up: Easy. I ordered this cake 9 days before the expected pick-up which was one day before the party. Pam had it ready-to-go on a strong cake board in a nice, large, sturdy box and helped me find the safest place in my car for the 10 minute drive home. I kept it in that box in our refrigerator at home. - Crowd Reaction: Great. Typical comments were..."what a fine looking cake" and "it tastes so good without being too sweet". - Price: Not cheap. Remember...this is a highly customized cake literally created by a baking artist. Our cake was $175 plus $50 for the hand-carved decorations. - Value: Excellent. We got just what we paid for. No complaints. In addition to the cake, Pam was very easy to work with. A real sweetheart.

Thank you Pam for working with me and for the partial refund on the cake. Appreciate your gesture…read moreand explanation of what went wrong. I wish you the best in your business!

We stopped by after the weekend up in Paso Robles for wine tasting and SLO town. It was still early so the town was pretty mellow and starting to open up. Well, this place was very lively and packed when we arrived. They have patio seating with some table's available but once you walk inside, the place was packed. All the tables and seat were utilized with people enjoying their meal and a cup of coffee. And a line forming for ordering. I've only had their drinks and pastries but they do offer food. Seeing what was being picked up and taken back to their seats, everything looked amazing. The open sandwiches, a must try next time we're here. But I was there for one thing, the scones. I don't know if they are made on site or from another establishment but let me say, they are fantastic. Everything was very tasty and not dry like some are. There's always a few selection which does sell out fast. I picked up the blueberry, favorite out of them all and a must try. The lemon which was tasty and not overly sweet and the maple syrup. Slightly sweet but not overly. And they're not dry which was the best part. By the time I ordered mine, majority of them were sold out. People must know about this place. Same thing with the town, I'm not sure if it was more locals or visitors that was visiting the place but it was happening. Besides the drinks and food, they also have coffee and teas for purchase as well as apparels. It's a full coffee shop and cafe with great drinks and delicious looking meals. Plus the customers service is top notch with the sweetest staff. Highly recommended stopping by for a meal or even a coffee.

Board was finished with a pile of rosemary sprigs and basil bigger than the toast. All that for $14.50!!! To boot the zucchini bread was dried out completely except for the center.
