    Birthday cake meringue

While walking my dog, I came upon this small shop in its somewhat random location and decided to give them a try. Their retail bakery is only open on Fridays and Saturdays after 12 PM so I was very lucky to be there while they were open! The bakery was bright and adorable and there's even a pink couch to lounge on. They have a display case that offers all of the treats that they have for the day. I tried a "bombe", macarons, and the honey combs and they gave me a free meringue since I spent over a certain amount which I thought was really nice. --Bombe-- Their chocolate and pomegranate mousse bombe was a very pretty chocolate dome filled with the flavored chocolate mousse and chocolate cake. The mousse was light and not too sweet, but I couldn't really taste the pomegranate. The chocolate cake base was nice and moist and the combo of the mousse with the cake made for a nice dessert overall. I think these bombes would be nice to have for a nice evening in or even as something to bring over for a dinner party since they're all so pretty. --Macarons-- They had an assortment of pretty macarons in their display case as well. They had a deal for their macaron (12 for $17) so I got a full dozen to try. The shells were all hollow unfortunately which made them really crumbly. I thought the flavors were just ok, none that really stood out to me in particular. --Honey Comb-- The honey combs were chocolate covered and I really liked that a lot. I thought the dark chocolate contrasted the sweetness of the honey well. These were addictively crunchy so I had to forcibly stop myself from finishing off the whole container myself. --Meringue-- As for my free meringue, I chose the birthday cake meringue (they had a strawberry one that day, too). Though it was very sweet [as meringues should be], it was unique and fun to eat. It was crisp, light, and airy on the outside with a cake batter flavored soft center. Though their retail hours are super limited, I'm still surprised that there weren't more reviews for Sweet Fix because they do offer pretty good desserts!

The sleeping unicorn cake was beyond what we imagined. Thank you!! (I added the name stick once we got the cake home.)

I found out about this bakery while searching for bakeries that were able to make unicorn cakes. My daughter wanted a unicorn cake for her birthday, and after I talked with this bakery about what we wanted it to look like and the flavors they were able to put together a cake that was beyond what we imagined. They are great with responding to calls and emails! The bakery was not hard to find. It's a nice little shop that I'm sure has a nice view of the city from the back of the building. I like that there is a gravel parking area across the street from them. I hate parallel parking on narrow streets. The inside is lovely! Very spacious and welcoming. There is a small section with miniatures that are fun to look at. The entire place smells good! A sweet smell. Not an overbearing sugary smell. They packaged the cake nicely that made it easy to transport without trouble. The cake was a BIG hit with my daughter!

We are so pleased to have chosen Sweet Fix to create the cake for our September 2020 wedding! Not only was the owner Amanda very personable, communicative, and easy to work with, the cake itself looked beautiful and tasted amazing. We wanted something simple and elegant in appearance, to allow for our florist to decorate with the same florals we used throughout the venue - the end result was perfect and exactly what we had in mind. We also appreciated the extensive flavor options, as well as the ability to set up multiple take-home tastings after the initial meeting at the bakery. One last note/rave - we originally had our wedding scheduled for April 2020, which had to be postponed due to COVID. Amanda was so understanding and flexible - she worked with us and our event coordinator to accommodate our new date without any issues. We are so grateful to have worked with such a fantastic team of vendors - we 100% recommend Sweet Fix, not only for the delicious/beautiful cake, but for the professionalism!

You know, I fell in love with shyndigz a few weeks ago and thought it was the best bakery or dessert heaven, but I guess i was wrong. Sweet fix is beyond georgetown cupcakes or shyndigz. The interior is BEAUTIFUL and photos won't even do justice. I honestly want to hold my birthday here but I don't think that's possible. Their macarons are delicious, oh my god!! I would compare it to Ladurée, it's that perfect! I've also tried other desserts and they are just as great. Will order my graduation cake here for sure! This is my new happy place that I almost don't want anyone else to know about. It honestly makes me sad that after I review this place, others will bookmark it and it will no longer be my hidden gem. The ladies here are so talented! For decor they have displays of cake designs on the back wall, bumblegum pink couch that looks too good to even sit on and a wall filled with candies! It's surreal and I never wanted to leave!

    French Macarons

Very cute little shop that just started doing retail, however from my understanding have been in the baking industry for years . I have been on a French Macaron kick lately and have had a hard time finding a place in Richmond that sell them . Places that do have them were horrible and not fresh and just done incorrectly all the way around. This place however did it justice and if you are a French Macaron lover, this is the place to get them. The flavor options at this time are limited but should be expanding. They also do personalize cakes!

Yay! to another place to ruin my diet! This place is super cute on the inside...makes me feel all girly and childish inside when I enter the place-lots of pink Desserts: I have been here a few times and tried several different things. So my favorite is the green tea macaron-they are fabulous! I have tried some other flavors of macarons (passion fruit, mango), but they were slightly too sweet for my taste buds and I couldn't finish those. I have tried the strawberry cupcake which was good. My only gripe would be the presentation of the salted caramel brûlée- after torching my dish, they unwrapped one of those tiny square caramel candy pieces (rubbed some salt on it) to place on top of the dessert and then added three pen point size drops of caramel on the perimeter-made it look childish and I was giving this to someone as a surprise and that ruined it a bit (but that is forgivable) Also, in case you are looking for prices inside: the menu prices are hard to see-its written on a mirror that is on the wall behind the register-its barely noticeable and you have to blind yourself to read it if the sun is shining that day (hopefully they change that soon) Overall Great little place for some real macarons and I would encourage you to try their other desserts! Each time I have visited, the staff has been very nice and that's a plus.

Had them cater my wedding cake for both the ceremony and the reception and could not have asked for better service and taste. Absolutely helpful and friendly, and worked with me on meeting my needs within my budget. Would HIGHLY recommend them!

Free off street parking is plentiful. There is good signage. It's now a take out only establishment since Covid. Two table are available for outdoor seating. Most customers took their orders and walked away. I visited them on a Sunday afternoon just after St. John's let out. It's just one block away and the church Patrick Henry gave a speech. There were a lot of church goers enjoying the business. Proper has a menu in the window to guide customers on choices of savory, or sweet. I wanted one of each. The man at the window was great in providing recommendations. I ordered the steak and cheese as well as the Banoffee. The preparation is already done and the man with assistant moved quickly to complete my order. I enjoyed my treats at their outdoor table and also enjoyed conversation with locals. I started with the steak & cheese which was loaded with meat and cheese. DELICIOUS! Then onto the Banoffee which smelled heavenly of cocoa. Another home run! I love bananas and if you do too this will be enjoyable. So glad I found them open on my visit. There hours are very good, but I have missed them in the Summer before on vacation. Just go, no brainer.

The sweet potato was equally as good but with a much milder flavor. And the cookies....out of this world! The servers were friendly but nothing over the top. They seemed to be a cog in the machine and churning out orders. Overall, a cute little, vegan, spot with really good pastries and coffee. Head caution on the milkshakes if you are not use to vegan milkshakes. While they taste good, at least to me, they are wildly different than an cows milk milkshake. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. All were fresh. All in all, a great place to stop by for a morning pastry treat and tea/coffee while in the area,
