Exactly two weeks ago, I went in to the Voorhees location to order a custom 16" 60-70 people cake. I asked the girl who was taking the order any recommendations on cake flavors that are not too sweet since this was for my Korean Grandma's 85th birthday. The girl recommended pineapple filling with vanilla cake which she said is not too sweet. We chose to go with her recommendation and added coconut shavings on the sides.
Next I asked for a SPECIAL request for the cake. Some of my family members were coming from Korea to celebrate Grandma's birthday. So I asked if Sweet Eats could write the phrase "Happy Birthday and my grandma's name" in KOREAN. I know I would be asking a lot, but I had the paper handout ready so I thought I would give it a try. I would have settled if Sweet Eats would have simply said "no." However, the owner (or the owner's son) took the paper that I had and went to the back to see if his wife could write/draw out Korean letters. He came back 5 minutes later saying "YES!" I could not believe that they would listen to a "kinda, sorta, yes it was" absurd request. Plus, they didn't even charge extra for this kind of a special request. Sweet Eats was so generous.
Then Sweet Eats went the extra mile to ensure that my order was correct. The 3 days before today's party, Sweet Eats called me to ask me about the writing. They asked questions to make sure that they understood what they had to write. After talking to the lady on the phone, I was reassured that the cake would turn out fine. I use the work fine here instead of great or excellent because I still had doubts about Sweet Eats being able to write in a foreign language.
Today, the day of the party, I opened the cake and I just could not stop smiling!!! It was 1000 times MORE than what I expected. I could tell how hard the decorator worked. She or he must have practiced it several times before putting it on the cake. It was UNBELIEVABLE. All the people at the party were amazed that Sweet Eats wrote out Korean letters PERFECTLY. NO mistakes whatsoever. Everyone, including family members who came from Korea said, Sweet Eats can write Korean letters better than Korean bakeries in Korea! My grandma was happy. My family was happy. I was happy. The cake was exquisite. The cake was exactly what we wanted ---- beautifully decorated with flowers in Grandma's favorite colors, the Korean words, not overly sweet, fruity, moist, and rich in flavor. Please take a look at the photo!
I would give Sweet Eats 10 stars if I could. Of all the times that I've been to Sweets Eats in both Voorhees and Marlton locations, I NEVER had problems with customer service unlike other reviews. The girls working at the front are always so nice and they make purchasing delicious cakes for various occasions easy. After my Grandma's cake ordering experience, I will forever be Sweet Eats loyal customer! I will be sure to tell all the people who need cakes to go to Sweet Eats!!! Thanks Sweet Eats!!
