The 6" cake for $70.79 bucks
Aaron M.

I found Sweet Cheats while searching online for the "best chocolate cake in Atlanta". While ordering online I learned that anything written on the cake cost an additional $10 and icing flowers were an extra $20. I purchased a 6" plain chocolate cake with a "happy birthday" message that advised would serve 10-12 people for $70.79. In my opinion, there was nothing special about the look or the taste of the cake that set them apart from any other cake shop or grocery store bakery. There were no embellishments or anything else to it to justify the price for such a small cake, so I feel their name is appropriate...Sweet CHEATS.

Assortment Half Dozen cupcakes

Ahhhmazing!!! Cute bakery tucked away in a nice part of town. I came here to seek options for my baby shower cake. This place had great options and the cupcakes i purchased to sample had unique names. upon walking in I was greeted and given options. I selected 6 cupcakes and advised on how to order once i make my selection. Very good customer service and friendly welcome. I would go back to this place and recommend them for your bakery needs. They also serve coffee.

Super cute walk up shop. I was in charge of dessert for a get together, and their cupcakes did not let me down. I ordered 6 cupcakes (and a coffee to go) from the paper menu they had available while also peeking at the display behind the service attendant. The group really enjoyed them and mentioned they'd go try them out again. My only gripe: I really wish the cupcake display was all the front of the stand. I wanted to pick cupcakes based on how cute they looked and it was difficult to see them. It seems they've closed to store off. Hopefully they open back up soon. Also they do cakes too. I saw a family picking up a beautiful graduation cake. (I ended up writing the ingredients on sticky notes, because there was no way I was going to be able to remember. It would have been nice to have something identifying them inside the box. )

Chocolate cake pop

One of my best girls gave me a couple of cake pops from Sweet Cheats when she came into town from Atlanta. They were yummy! Can't comment on service or atmosphere, but friend tells me this is her favorite bakery in the neighborhood. The cake pops were beautifully decorated, with swirls of chocolate and spatters of color. The inside cake was moist and very chocolate-y. The chocolate coating wasn't waxy or any of the usual problems you encounter with that kinda stuff, either, so that was great! I look forward to stopping by when I go to visit in the future! I love single serving desserts and these were really solid. :)

Ham and Swiss breakfast sandwich on spicy jalapeño cheddar bagel!

Definitely coming back! We got the build your own breakfast sandwiches on the spicy jalapeno cheddar bagels. Delicious! We had one ham and Swiss, and one bacon and cheddar--both great but highly recommend the ham and Swiss! Our favorite thing about the bagels was the quality of the bread. Just. Wow. The bagels are made right at sweet cheats and you can tell! We also snagged a cortado and a smores cappuccino--both delicious and espresso forward.

Thank you so much for the beautiful cake. Everyone loved it. The family raved on how delicious the strawberry buttercream cake was. Plus the color contrast was a pleasant surprised. Thank you for making this occasion a special one.

Custom red velvet birthday cake for daughter-pre-order
Janet W.

This is a bakery with walk-up service near Cabbagetown Park and Krog Street. They make custom cakes, including wedding cakes. My husband ordered a Red Velvet cake for my daughter's birthday in advance. My son tried the Red Velvet Cake Pop which he recommends! It was quiet on early Saturday morning and I saw they serve coffees which I did not try. The cakes are so beautifully decorated, definitely worthwhile to plan in advance for a special occasion! Parking was street parking which was plentiful by the park on around 9:30 am on a Saturday.

Sweet Cheats has never disappointed me when it comes to special occasions. Shirley Hughes' designs are not only spectacular but affordable.

Burned cake
Destinee D.

Unfortunately, I am having to resort to review forums to get my point across about a recent experience I had with this bakery-- Recently ordered a cake for my bridal shower from this bakery & when we cut the cake at home, we realized it was extremely burned. We cut the cake in half to see if the entire cake was inedible or if it was just one area since we saw a thick brown layer (burned) throughout the cake. We have ate at numerous bakeries throughout Atlanta and assumed that our event planner could reach out to the bakery to rectify the situation. My event planner reached out to the bakery and they responded that the brown area was carmelized and informed us it was not burned, and since we ate half of the cake- they would only offer 6 cupcakes to make amends. The customer is always right and the image we sent was after we sliced it in half- assumptions are never a good choice when in customer service. The cake was NOT EDIBLE. We through the cake away and declined the inattentive offering of cupcakes from the bakery. This situation could have been easily rectified had they merely taken fault and asked how to make it better. It's an unfortunate experience and I am sharing to prevent anyone else from dealing with a company who delivers burned cakes to such special events and responds with such a poor attitude. Do better Sweet Cheats! Fix the attitude and be attentive to you customers.

Bummer. Nothing like the anticipation for a delicious treat to satiate those sweet tooth cravings, only to be let down. My friend and I came here on a whim, after meeting the owner at one of the restaurants we ate at, and she insisted her cake pops were on another level than Starbucks. (If you haven't had a cake pop from Starbucks, you need to try them) I was sufficiently full from dinner, but hey, there's always room for dessert. While we were down that way, I decided we must stop here and try some dessert. Small, quaint shop with sweets and drinks. Funny, the owner was telling me she does bodybuilding competitions, and sure enough, I saw some trophies in there. Yet she owns a dessert shop. My kind of girl. There's lots to catch your attention like brownies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and of course cake pops. I got two different kinds of pops, and sadly, can't remember one of them, but the darker one was Nutella. I think the other was either creme brulee or birthday cake? Either way, it was unmemorable. It really wasn't all that moist, and didn't have great flavor or richness. My friend got some red velvet cheesecake, and I tried a bite, but it was dry and not super creamy. I am glad this place was just right down the street from where we ate, because I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. Maybe we hit it too close to closing time, so it wasn't super fresh? Just not sure, but I'll stick with Starbucks next time when I need a cake pop fix.

Both cakes were delicious and I'm ordering again this year. And hopefully next year for a sweet sixteen. I love this place.

Best cake pops and cakes on the planet. And that's a fact. Also, I've been so impressed with the cake pops , decided that this place has the best Hand down cakes too . I have been ordering my Birthday cakes from them and them only no matter what design they always get it get it to the T.

We drove downtown specifically to try out this spot - paid $8 for parking in the lot next to the building. Front space Clean fun inviting feel with handwritten notes on wall. Service: The young lady helping was nice, but we waited at least 10 minutes before she came to the front to greet and assist myself and another customer before me. No pudding available Cobbler: had barely any crust (iyktyk) and the filling could use improvement. I think we were also supposed to get ice cream ? If so we didn't get it. I got the cinnamon roll with apple butter. I thought it would be throughout but it was on top, and the roll itself was a little dry. Purchase 2 peanut butter cookies that were huge for my son. Not sure how they were but he didnt complain so I assume they were good.

We saw some of the really cute things in the window, so we walked in and it did not disappoint. The place was filled with chocolates macaroons and a whole bunch of pastries. The place is not large however, the cases are definitely filled with a lot of goodies. On this particular day, it did take us a little while to make a decision as there are quite a few choices. However, the two staff members who were here that day were very patient with us. We did walk away with macaroons a lemon meringue tart as well as a Canele. You know what it's in the pictures. I do not have a picture of that because it was eaten before I got a chance to take a picture of it. But everything was so tasty absolute perfection. I guess I must've written it off due to the parking situation, and I honestly would've never visited, but a friend suggested coming here, so here I am. It's very, very limited parking. I'm not sure if we're *allowed* to park in the nearby parking lots, and I didn't have to, but if there's only like 6 spaces with barely enough space for cars to pass through entering and exiting... idk, it's not for me, esp when Doraville can get v traffick-y and the turn lanes are just waiting. Interior wise, it's cute. It tries to invoke a sense of Japanese aesthetic with the shoji panels, all the wood and light, the fake flowers, and I don't hate it. It's a fine place to sit and chat, though I feel bad for others who want to visit because again, the parking here sucks. I got their black sesame latte float with a matcha and sakura (seasonal flavor) swirl. The sakura was sweeter than anticipated and not floral, which was a bit disappointing since I didn't like it alone or mixing with the matcha flavor. The black sesame portion was fine. I like the nuttiness of black sesame in general, and I would've loved if they used more for a stronger flavor. The flavor was subtle, and with the ice and soft serve on top, got easily diluted.
