I had a first time appointment with the Canadian mental health association (in the same building) but arrived early with my Mother so we went to this café. We sat down as there were people being served at moment, and I got 2 disapprovingly looks from the woman behind the counter for some odd reason. My Mother took out a Tim Horton's bag that she put her pills in, because the bottle cap had broken earlier, and then the woman said "really ladies?" as though we just came in to eat Tim Horton's at her place. It was a misunderstanding, but was handled terribly by her. When I explained we were going to order and there was no food in the bag, she didn't seem to care and stayed in her disapproving attitude. My Mother proceeded to go to the counter and asked about herbal teas. The woman pointed out on the wall where they were written and said 'can't you read that' when my Mother asked what type of herbal tea she had. To end it all, she asked us to leave, saying she didn't want any animosity in her place, when she created it?! She then said she was closing when it wasn't even 2pm and they close at 4pm. Unbelievably unprofessional, unfriendly and just the opposite of "sweet". Rotten customer service for a café in a building where people with mental health issues come to. Please avoid.
* On a side note, I had looked up this place before coming here and the 2 reviews made it seem like a friendly, welcoming environment. Could not have been more opposite. Sad.
*Just would like to respond to the owner who commented on my review. I can appreciate you wanting to stand up for the reputation of your business, however my Mother and I walked into an environment that was the opposite of what you describe as being warm and welcoming. I wish it had been, as it was our first time visiting, and we did nothing to receive such hostility. Glad to know you treat others kindly, but would have been nice if you could have, professionally, acknowledged your inappropriate behavior in this particular situation. We all have bad days, just isn't necessary to take it out on customers. I wish you well and hope you really hear what one of your "customers" feel about being treated by your establishment. read more
