Sweet Cacao recently relocated from their former Jackson Street location to a new and larger retail spot on Broad Street. Every trip I make to Thomasville includes a stop at Sweet Cacao. My companions and I have sampled the sipping chocolate, which is a small hot cup of exactly what you think...sipping chocolate. It's more dessert that hot beverage to warm you up. But it is utterly delicious! There are plenty of dessert offerings from gelato to sorbet, to colorful macrons, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cheesecakes, milkshakes, and coffee drinks galore. If that isn't enough they put themselves over the top with hand crafted truffles, each with their own design and flavor profile. The staff will package them in a 2, 4, 8 or 12 count box for gifting. I dare you to leave without a box! They also offer a small caramel filled or dark chocolate bar for about $3.00. They are delicious! You may just have to eat it if it's a hot day outside. You wouldn't want this melting before you get to enjoy it! This is one of my personal favs! Now parking is a bit tricky. There is angled parking in front of the store and on both sides of Broad Street, but this is a busy area for shoppers, diners, locals and tourists. So, if you just venture around the corner to East Jefferson Street, there is more parking. On a busy Saturday, we found plenty of empty spaces midday on East Jefferson Street, where Broad Street was full! It is wonderful to see a local business thriving like Sweet Cacoa! The line out the door proved just how popular this dessert haven is! If you need a gift for a hostess or just a sweet treat yourself, this shop is a must-stop location and is on my regular Thomasville routine shopping destinations. read more

Stopped by here for a sweet treat on a cold December day. Crazy me went for a cold drink (since I love a good iced drink) and decided to try the Iced Savannah Latte which consisted of chocolate, honey, lavender, cinnamon & nutmeg. Wow! Who knew these flavors together could be so good! Normally I'm not big on multiple flavors but this combination was delicious. I also got a chance to try the Dipping Chocolate which comes in a small Dixie cup. It was a super rich chocolate flavor and that was good for my sweet tooth. This place was also poppin'. And on such a rainy day too! There were always people and a line while I was there enjoying my drink. This is a wonderfully sweet Thomasville treasure! The staff is amazing and the truffles are to die for!!! I especially loved the Savannah Latte Truffle as well as the Savannah Truffle!! Both were equally delicious!! The truffles were super chocolatey and creamy!! We also tasted the spicy chocolate mango, which was tasty as well! I would stay away from the Bourbon Truffle if you're not a bourbon drinker!! It was not good to me AT ALL!! A gourmet chocolate shop in the middle of Thomasville, Georgia? Sign me up! We just barely made it to Sweet Cacao Chocolates one Friday evening after having dinner at Sweet Grass Dairy, which surprise, surprise, doesn't serve desserts. Gasp. Seeing as in our group we had one with the biggest sweet tooth known to mankind (I may be exaggerating here, but it's pretty big), he remembered seeing this store the weekend before when we had dined at Jonah's Fish and Grits. Needless to say, I Yelped and we made it with around fifteen minutes to spare before closing time. It looks like everyone and their mother had the same idea because the place was packed. We managed to order just in time as soon after, the man taking orders put the sign up for closed. They serve coffee, but we didn't partake, something that I will have to be back to try at another point. As for the desserts, what didn't they have? They had hand-painted chocolates, s'mores, cheesecake, even an entire display of to-go gifts. We purchased cheesecake, s'mores, and chocolate-covered almonds. Everyone was thrilled with their choices. Will say that the cheesecake is hearty, so it's best to share or to not inhale after dinner. We wound up leaving soon after, and one in our group forgot his sweater. The man from the counter went out to find us to return it. If that isn't being a good human being, I don't know what is. Will definitely return, especially as I have my eye on their s'mores kit, not to mention their hot cocoa mix for the holidays. read more

This is my favorite place to relax and enjoy a coffee, chocolate, fresh baked goods like croissants, quiches, ice cream concoctions and I can bring my dog who is always welcome. A very comforting place. read more

Stopped here during a visit with family and everything was so delicious! Truly impressed by everything, but especially the cannolis! I've had a bunch from other bakeries and even tried my hand at it, and these are by far the best i've ever had. We tried the goat cheese truffle, which was good, nothing crazy. And the italian crème horn, and pecan sticky bun. Both very delicious. The pastry itself is so good and fresh and buttery. A little pricey, but certainly worth the cost. $4 for one cannoli seemed a little much, but once i ate it, I bought two more lol. Very kind staff as well! read more

More: it's 4 stars for Tallahassee/ Thomasville, not like this is the best shop I have tried. I.like visiting Thomasville for an afternoon stroll and going to Liam's. I stumbled upon this store while parking my car. (It's right across the street from Liam's.) I have visited it a few times since the first discovery, and I like that a cute, indepeny store like this exists in a short driving distance from Tally! Things I have tried: * Chocolate croissant - pretty good. I don't know if they make the dough from scratch, but it's better than anything you find in Tallahassee..(not hard to do, but still ! ) * Cream filled horn - sometimes the buttercream gets a bit too salty and the shell might be a bit soggy..but I still like it. Flaky pasty she'll, butter cream, and chocolate drizzle - what's not to like?! Service is really nice and friendly. * Macarons - not the best texture or flavor, but again it's better than what you find in Tallahassee. * Espresso - Good, solid shots * Hot chocolate - good * Brownies - very dense..some varieties are a bit hard to chew. Great flavor. They also have 3-4 different kinds of cheese cakes. Ironically I haven't tried their chocolates as their creations are all in dome shape with some kind of coloring / filling. stumbled upon this place while visiting thomasville for the night and i'm glad i did! i wasn't expecting to purchase anything but the owners were in the store and completely sold me. it is a family run business which is why i'm giving it five stars, with the hospitality and welcoming environment that i was given, I couldn't deny supporting and purchasing something. I ordered the peanut butter brownie and it was a perfect balance of peanut butter to decadent chocolate. The chocolate truffles (?) were all painted by hand! Cute little sweet shop in the heart of downtown. They have an assortment of truffles, cheesecakes, brownies, macaroons, and other desserts. This place literally does not look like much. It is a nice, little cafe that serves sweets and desserts. What they have, though, is some of the best coffee and desserts I have ever had. My mother had the cappuccino and I had the latte. I also had a brownie as well. The brownie was so full of chocolate, but not so much that it was overwhelming. Definitely what I look for in a brownie. But the coffee. Literally the best coffee I have ever had in my life. I asked for a latte with a pump of vanilla. It was ready before I sat down. It was so creamy and rich, but it was still a coffee. I don't live in Thomasville, but I will definitely return here. Excellent service and even better food. And the price is cheaper than Starbucks! We had the cacao shop all to ourselves as this was a private event in celebration of two sister's birthdays. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays which left visions of sugar plums festively dancing in our heads and the sweet aromas wafting through only enhanced the experience. Katy started the evening by offering us a large cup of joe then leading into an educational segment regarding the cacao seeds and how they source their chocolate. We were enlightened. Next, we started our hands-on truffle making. After a few instructions, we were off letting our creative minds run wild with exploring different painting techniques. Once the chocolate was at temperature, we filled our trays with a shower of cascading goodness. We were able to fill the middles as we liked with the flavor choices that were offered. Then, we covered the tops with more chocolate and scraped the excess back into the chocolate kiln. Truly hands-on. Once, the trays were cooled, we were encouraged to tap them on the counter to release our truffle pieces. For those that did not make it without being broken, no worries. We were able to pick from a pre-made selection to make our set complete. This was great because that meant no tears. We each walked away with our own box of truffles. It was an enjoyable night that moved at a nice pace. Our group was made up of a variety of ages. It appealed to all. I would recommend the experience. read more

What kind of sorcery is this? We stumbled upon a brand new specialty chocolate and macaron shop this evening, and were positively blissful after sampling their wares. Macarons are big in our household, and I'd consider myself a pretty well-seasoned judge of what a macaron should be. Their cookies were smooth and perfectly chewy - unlike some of the other nearby shops selling macarons, they get all the air out so you aren't left with a crunchy mess all over the place. Their fillings were light, went with the cookie flavour, and weren't overpowering. I had the lemon with lemon buttercream, raspberry with chocolate ganache, and German chocolate. My favourite was the lemon. It's hard to nail a lemon macaron without overwhelming the citrus component. They aren't overly sweet, and their buttercream was just perfectly done. This place will be on our shopping list for the holidays for sure. I can't imagine disappointing a single person with the variety they have to offer. I've somehow failed to mention their namesake - the chocolates. Check out the picture I uploaded. You'll pretty much be eating a work of art. I can dig it. read more

We found this place while sightseeing around Thomasville. We didn't know it was there but visited the attached gift store and wandered in. The toffee is the right blend of crunch to melt in your mouth goodness, tried the dark on dark truffle, also wonderful. While I was browsing, another customer came in and asked for sipping chocolate, this being new to me, I asked about it and the owner gave me a (generous) sample...Best. Chocolate. Ever. Oh my goodness! So amazing, full flavor, rich chocolatey goodness, I tilted my head back till every drop was gone! As fabulous as that was, my very favorite, not just at this store, but any chocolate anywhere, ever, were the chocolate, caramel covered homemade marshmallows.
