I wasn't familiar with this business until just the other night. I was a casino dealer for an 80th birthday party. The cake was beautiful! It was a sheet cake designed to look like a beach scene with graham cracker crumbled sand, little shells and starfish, a palm tree, and a cute little chair. Beauty aside, it is the tastiest cake I have had in ages! I will definitely order a cake from here if I have a special occasion that needs a cake. read more

Our choice for our wedding cake. The taste test was great with the buttercream being our favorite. The cream cheese a second choice.

I was having a Winnie the Pooh baby shower theme & I ran into their site and saw they did an amazing job on cakes. I went in and told them about my idea of the cake and talked about budget, flavors, etc. I knew I was in great hands from the work I saw. I had to put in a deposit that same day. When I went to go pick it up it looked exactly like the picture I showed them & it tasted great as well! Worth the money read more

Once again, the girls at Artistic Confections came through with an amazing cake for my son's birthday. This year, his party was just prior to a big kids triathlon. In preparation to get psyched up for it, Maria came up with a great cake in Triathlete theme. The cake was a huge hit with the kids and parents, but the taste was the real winner! After the party, there was barley any left as kids and parents alike were going in for seconds. And Maria's triathlon themed cookies as party favors was an amazing idea and very well received ! Thanks again for your amazing creativity and hard work to make his birthdays special. He went on to win the Tri for his age group. I think it might have been the cake that gave him the extra motivation?? Looking forward to the next cake! read more

Maria and her team are just absolutely amazing! I knew I was bringing them an odd request when I asked them to make me two groom's cakes, one in the shape of a golf ball the other in the shape of a bison. Yes, a bison! You could imagine their reactions. I was imagining just a chocolate cake cut out in the shape of a bison. They said that they did not think that would look very good and recommended a 3-D bison. I was hesitant but knew they were the experts so I put it in their hands. And oh my gosh, the bison was a piece of art. No one wanted to cut into him because it was just so perfect and gorgeous! All the wedding guests raved about the delicious carrot cake golf ball and chocolate bison for looks and the wonderful taste! I know my family and I are now sold on Artistic Confections for all of our future cakes! read more

I'd like to say that this is the best 2 person bakery around. I recently had a chocolate covered bacon cupcake from this bakery. I had never heard of this and the assistant talked me into it. Let me say. If you haven't tried it, you should. This was the best, moist, delicious cupcake that I have ever eaten. I'm also impressed with this bakery because these 2 women do so much as though they have a full staff and it's only the 2 of them. There maybe someone to help out every now and then, but think about it. Put yourself in their shoes. For anyone to give these 2 ladies a bad review it's really being a coward. They work off of pictures that you submit to their email. They get it so close to perfect...to do this, they do not go home at quitting time..... They do whatever it takes including work all through the night to get out- your orders and no other bakery will do that. These women have a heart of gold, if you let them know before leaving the shop that you want something changed with your order, they will do it. My hat goes off to these 2 amazing, hard working ladies. You want to complain- come on try it- do what they do.....I dare you........ let's see if you want to pull an all nighter. Best of luck ladies fit doing an amazing job! read more

Maria, the owner, was incredibly helpful when it came time for me to order my cake. She took the time to discuss every detail with me and I appreciate that kind of hospitality that is so rare these days. I saw a review related to their buttercream, and I have to say it isn't as sweet as others but that's because it is real buttercream. It's not made from Lard like other places, and she was more than willing to add more powdered sugar if I would've liked. However, I loved her icing and her cake. I will definitely be back. read more

Artistic Confections - For all of those gator lovers here is an awesome birthday cake, it even lights up!!!!! - Bakeries Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

While other reviewers comment on the ready-made, out-of-the-display-case portion of the business, I will discuss my experience with a (very) special order, which I feel is where Artistic Confections shines. A short story for context: While my fiancee (now: wife) and I were planning our wedding, we had contracted the services of another baker in town (whom shall remain nameless). We contracted this baker at least half a year in advance of our wedding date (which is within reason) to bake both our wedding cake and our groom's cake. This baker seemed to be eager to make us happy; heck, I specifically asked her what flavors and such she can make and her response was "anything you want I can make happen." Protip: If you cannot back up a claim like that, especially when tossed out there to a person with an adventurous palate, DO NOT DO IT. Well, we came up with what we wanted for both cakes, and contacted her to let her know our decision. She waited about a week to reply that she could not make what we wanted. Apparently, multiple flavors of cake (in a multi-layer, multi-tier cake) is way too complex. Apparently "strawberry" isn't in her wheelhouse (meanwhile, champagne rhubard lingonberry is right up her alley). We had to completely re-tool our wedding cake ... TO SATISFY THE STUPID BAKER. She also flat out refused to make the groom's cake. She said it was too difficult and she didn't want to experiment. This all happened about a month before the wedding. Find another baker one month before an August wedding? Shouldn't be a problem, right? (laugh laugh). Luckily I did find a baker. I asked our wedding coordinator (Robin @ Simply Entertaining) if she had any suggestions, and she mentioned Artistic Confections. She had worked with her in the past, and knowing what kind of cake I wanted, that Artistic Confections would be my best bet ... if they were still available at this point. Luckily, they were. I forgot to describe the cake in question. Here is what I wanted ... think of your traditional cake with multiple layers. Now throw all convention out the window. Alternating layers of maple cheesecake and carrot cake, iced with a chocolate stout icing, and topped with crushed pralines and crumbled bacon. Sounds delicious, right? Those who don't think so ... yeah, there were a lot of doubters at our reception; they were all converted. Though, I did have to change one part of the cake. The red-headed step-child was the carrot cake. I thought it might have been a good pairing, but Maria at Artistic Confections wasn't quite so sure. So I compromised a little ... the carrot cake part would become layers of hummingbird cake (my alternate choice). Before I go into how well received the cake was, let me first say that meeting with the folks at Artistic Confections was pleasant. They were friendly and helpful. They were immediately open to the idea of my cake, and when they presented the suggestion to change the carrot cake portion to something else, they did so in a polite fashion ... a manner that seemed to open the lines of communication and negotiation, rather than a complete shut down (like the other baker did). They also gave me a great deal on a cake. Knowing that anytime the word "wedding" is associated with anything, there seems to always be about a 300% markup involved ... at minimum. I came into their bakery thinking I was about to shell out $300-$400 for a cake that could possibly be uneaten. I was pleasantly surprised when my cake came out just a little over $100, delivery included. Now ... how did the cake, itself, fare? Allow me to say that while the groom's cake was from Maria at Artistic Confections, our main wedding cake was still done by the other baker ... and the groom's cake was without a doubt the favorite at the reception. In gauging interest for the cake beforehand, I heard a lot of "What? Bacon? I don't know about that ... " Well, guests descended upon the small table to the side that featured the groom's cake like a pack of starving vultures. It was completely wiped out, while there was tons of the regular wedding cake left. In comparison, the regular wedding cake was "okay" ... it was a traditional cake, the frosting was pretty good, but the cake itself was a little dense and the flavors were .... nothing spectacular. The groom's cake, however, was absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that it was gone before I could get seconds of it. Well done, Artistic Confections, well done. Whenever I need another specialty cake (and I will want another just like this one), I know where to go to. read more

They made my wedding cake this past weekend and blew it out of the water! I kept hearing people say how wedding cakes were never good but this one was AMAZING! it really was though. Chocolate cake with chocolate icing in the middle and white buttercream icing on the outside. Gorgeous! Affordable! Also accommodated the vegans and made a separate cake which I heard was the best they have ever had as well. Highly impressed and will be doing all of my future cakes with them! read more

The cupcake I had was not sweet enough. The owner added more sugar to the frosting for me and it still wasn't enough. My diabetic coworker tasted it and even said the cupcake was gross. Gigi's Cupcakes is sooooooooooooooooo much better, rich and very sweet. read more

I'd probably give them 2 1/2 stars. I went in today for a slice of cake, but after finding it to be over $6, I decided to try a cupcake first. I got a guinness cupcake. It was beautiful and so was the container it came in. The first bite was pretty good- until I found a hair in the cute little container. A hair will ruin it every time. If it was hair-less, I would have possibly gone higher, but I'm not sure I'll ever go back. read more

We are new to Tallahassee. I looked on Google to try and find a local bakery. I ordered a cake from Artistic Creations....when I went in to order, the store front is very small and cluttered. The lady that took my order wasn't very pleasant. But, I ordered, paid and left. I returned a few weeks later for pickup. The lady was a little nicer this time. The cake was exactly what I wanted and it was beautiful. Party was the next day. Disappointed and embarassed. Although the cake looked perfect, the taste was deflated. The buttercream was heavy and tasteless...like Crisco almost and little to no sugar was added. It was just an odd flavor. The actual cake itself was moist. Sadly, we ended up scraping the buttercream off. Sorry. I won't be coming back. read more
