In the store itself they have vintage games for kids and also modern takes on games that I haven't seen before. The woman who owns the store is also an engaging and interesting person who works there with her sister and also supports a local bakery that provides their beautiful cakes and cupcakes. It would make any child's day to head here for ice cream and candy. (There is an entire wall full of various candies that can be selected and weighed. I noticed it was $10.95/lb. There are also a few tables where you can sit down and eat and a TV playing kid appropriate shows, but no sound. In my overall opinion, this place is extremely overpriced but cute. I will definitely be back to stock up on meat. I'd also like to try the hot bar. You can get a platter of side dishes for $6 or a main entree with two sides for $9. Today they had vegan stir fry and vegan shepherd's pies as the vegan entrees and about four other non-vegan entrees. The produce looked fresh and was also reasonably priced. I look forward to really shopping there when I need to stock up on fresh produce and meats.

The restaurant itself is very minimalistic. The walls are all white with a green accent. It's very clean feeling. The staff was fantastic! They are very friendly and helpful. We got an açaí bowl to share and it was great! I'm not an expert on them but I enjoyed it. I will note that I did share this with my two year old; thus, this would not be my typical solo order. Realistically, the only reason she tried this bowl was because I told her it was ice cream and added some bright toppings! My daughter loved her "ice cream" and ate it up. I really enjoyed it as well and there was plenty leftover. I think the price was very reasonable. I really want to try one of their teas or shakes. They all sounded tasty and were low calories. Finally, I wanted to mention that it was a bit loud in the seating area. They blend the shakes right there so the blender does make a typical loud noise. I looked over the menu--they have a lot of shakes!--and chose the Banana creme pie..(?) banana pudding shake..(?)..Idk it was banana. While the girl crafted my "healthy" shake (there's like 24g or protein, vitamins and minerals, and less than 300 calories [I know right]), the owner and I had a nice chat about travel. ANYWAYS the shake: I was informed it tasted like banana pudding which, I mean, is amazing. It was garnished with what I assumed were vanilla wafers and dried bananas. It indeed tasted like banana pudding! Very good, very filling. A bit of an aftertaste (think diet soda), but I didn't mind it at all. They also give you a free in-house crafted iced tea with every shake! I got raspberry-mango-aloe. Delightful! All in all, I will be going back. They have so many flavors so there's no shortage of options. Check it out this summer! 9/10 would recommend.

The oils and vinegars sold here are top quality, unfortunately I cannot say the same for the young lady who works there. Her curt and nasty behavior on several occasions has finally convinced my husband and me to find another outlet for quality oils and vinegars even though we are in close proximity to the store. We both have a long history in the restaurant and retail industries and are appalled at the service we received at Smashing Olive! I have to believe that the owner is not aware of her employees behavior and the negative effect it has on the customer. Smashing Olive is a wonderful addition to Tallahassee and I would hate to think that it will suffer due to the inadequate behavior of one single employee.
